  1. Welcome!
  2. That's interesting because it seems it's usually listed as being fair and only for small to mid sized fish. Sounds like it might be a fun lake to check out with the kayak. Talked to the fisheries biologist that covers La Cygne, sounds like the plant is down for at least 5 weeks for regular maintenance.
  3. I buy all my components at Barlow's. I build mine from the very beginning, pouring, painting, baking, tying, and assembling. You can buy lots of different plain jigheads and add the blade and skirt.
  4. The Berkley hooks (and hardbaits), don't get near the attention they deserve for whatever reason.
  5. They don't eat anything else when I'm around.
  6. I'm always surprised how often people are surprised to catch catfish on lures while fishing for other species. I've caught them on almost everything, including several on topwater. I've caught some monsters while fishing for bass, but most are in the 2-7 pound range. I can't hardly go a trip during the summer without catching at least one.
  7. I agree. I've had too many rolled points and a couple mysteriously snapped hook shanks with what used to be my favorite superline gammys in the past few years. Have yet to have either issue with the EC and I'm spending way less money on hooks.
  8. I use a 6' 8" M/MF spinning rod with 8lb mono for small jerkbaits like the Duo Rozante 63 and 65 pointer.
  9. I have 2 7' 3" H/F Ethos micro rods I bought from Academy for $27 each, normally 80. Pretty sure they still offer a 7' H/F for 70 in their lower end rods, which I also have and use for a kayak flipping/frog rod.
  10. One of my favorite fish to hate catching. Drum fight hard, but are disappointing when you see them if you're not sure what you've got. Did you eat it? I know people that love eating them and a bunch that wouldn't even consider trying one.
  11. Very nice! I'm hoping to get out for some cold water fishing this week as well since it seems they've shut the power plant down for at least a little while. Even if it's turned back on by Monday I'll probably head to a small lake instead for a change of scenery.
  12. Owner Mosquito hooks
  13. Sounds a lot like a discontinued Rick Clunn Thunder Shad. I've got a bunch in bright chartreuse/purple back. Made of cedar with a subtle wobble. No rattles, but my best tournament ever was fishing one in water dirty enough to plow. Remember, bait fish don't get louder just because the water is dirty.
  14. Good luck! I'm excited for my first trip to a non powerplant lake of the year this week! Will probably be tough as well, but a change of scenery will be nice.
  15. Doubtful. "Sales" at BPS just means they got prices down to were they normally are a lot of other places with an occasional exception.
  16. Creeped me out
  17. I know you can rent boats at Big Cedar Lodge, but they're pricey. I've done well fishing in around that cove the resort is in and also Clevinger Hollow, which is the next big cove to the north of Big Cedar Hollow. It's very deep and clear water so be prepared for that.
  18. Thought this might be a fun wintertime thread. I love baits that are worn from catching fish, they have a story to tell. Love looking at all the scratches, missing paint and eyes, thinking of all the fish they've caught. I'll start with a pair of discontinued Xcalibur XR50's, and a 3 year old Strike King tungsten 2 Tap.
  19. I have a KastKing Spartacus Plus with the Sea Knight Elf spool in it that will cast an 1/8oz hair jig with ease.
  20. I'd use 10 or 12 pound Big Game for those baits.
  21. I don't think there is usually a booth for BR. Glenn is usually wandering the floor doing interviews and rubbing elbows with pros and potential new sponsors Maybe I'm wrong and completely missed the booth both times the Classic was at Grand Lake.
