Hello
Welcome! That's great that you're getting your kids involved. My oldest is 3.5 and he loves going fishing whenever we get the chance.

Asking permission
Don't know about your area, but I've never been told yes unless I've got some kind of connection with the owner. I don't "cold call" very often, mainly because it just doesn't work for me.

Pflueger Spinning Reels Question
Like the others, I close mine by hand without ever knowing I'm doing it. The sound of a bail snapping shut from someone turning the reel handle makes my skin crawl.

KastKing - BassResource Member ICAST Show Discount!
Been fishing one for several months now and been happy with it. It's fast, cast well, has a long handle with comfortable grips, and the price was right. They're not a light weight reel, but they're not super heavy either. Yep, working just fine

Fish attractants
I mainly use it during the colder months when I'm fishing very slowly. Whether it helps is debatable, but I think everyone would probably agree that it doesn't hurt anything. Megastrike and JJ's are my attractants of choice.

Don't forget about the....
Scrubbing a grub is a standby technique in the clear Ozark lakes like Table Rock and Bull Shoals. It's not an exciting way to fish, but it's deadly when they're on it.

It doesn't get old
If it was easy every time it would get boring IMO.

I haven't looked in store but they don't list all the rods they make on their website.

Chatterbait fishing
I'll fish them about anytime once the water is over 40*. The only time I don't use them as much is really clear water. They really shine around submerged vegetation or weed edges, and stained to muddy water. I fish mine with a very slow retrieve, just fast enough to make the blade work.

Looks nothing like the redears we have here. Looks more like a pumpkinseed to me.

Punching Rods
I use an Okuma TCS "Matt Daddy" for punching and it works excellent, and is very lightweight for a heavy duty rod. It's longer than the length limit you're looking for, but I've used it out of a 15' johnboat plenty of times with no issues. They have a 7' 3" H/F (which I also own), as well as a 7' 6" H/MF if you wanted to stay in the length range you listed. Full price is around $140 for them, but you can find them for around $100 all the time if you look a little. Great customer service too if you ever need it.

Good Glass / Composite Bait Cast Rod Under $129 ?
Ethos Composite Cranker from Academy, 7' MH/M. I don't use it for bladed jigs, but my BIL does and likes it. I use mine for cranks and it's been really good for a cheap rod. They're $60 full price but I bought mine for $32 on clearance.
