  1. It's a huge channel cat for sure, but they catch them that big all the time out of the Red River in Manitoba. https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&site=imghp&tbm=isch&source=hp&biw=1280&bih=918&q=red+river+manitoba+channel+catfish&oq=red+river+manitoba+channel+catfish&gs_l=img.3...779.6507.0.7079.34.34.0.0.0.0.177.2899.30j3.33.0....0...1.1.64.img..1.19.1686...0j0i30k1j0i8i30k1j0i24k1.OEV-GobDcd0
  2. If I could consistently catch wipers like I do bass, I'd spend a lot less time bass fishing. I love catching big catfish too. They get over 100 pounds in Kansas so knowing there's a chance to catch a 100lb fish in freshwater is a rush. Sight fishing for big gar is a blast too, although dealing with them once landed isn't much fun. If there was a place to fish for muskie and/or striper close by, I don't know if I'd bass fish much at all.
  3. Bottom composition can effect weed growth as well. If you see dense weeds, then a small hole or strip where there are no weeds, it's possible there's a rockpile, log, or other form of hard cover/structure that the weeds can't grow on. Find a spot like that and you'll find fish, probably more than one too. It isn't always about the weed edges either. Sometimes they'll bury up in those weeds and you have to go right through the middle to fish below the canopy. Those are times when it's really important to fish the bottom below the weeds. Fish will still use the breaklines to cruise and look for prey.
  4. Pretty hard to miss the orange boat with the Golden Retriever sleeping in her bed on the back deck.
  5. Fish and ski or a deck boat are probably your only real options there.
  6. It's plastic but pretty stiff plastic that seems to hold up well. They put 1 extra in with the bait and you can buy 3 packs of extra tails for $5.
  7. It's in reference to the way the tail throws water, like a sprinkler.
  8. I'll say "That's a 2 minute fish landing violation", in a lot of my videos when one hits the carpet or the guy in the back drops one.
  9. Finally got everything together from my little over half day at Mound last Thursday. Came up just shy of 20 pounds for my biggest 5. I had the bite to go over 20, the one I broke off hit a YUM Magnum Christie Critter with authority, but I obviously needed to retie.
  10. Had a really good day on the 6th. Came up just short of 20 pounds for my biggest 5, which is the cutoff for what I consider a really good day here. It was my first time fishing a craw tube, and it won't be my last. I had the fish I needed to go over 20 pounds. The one I broke off in the video slammed a YUM Magnum Christie Critter and had no give on the hookset, but unfortunately the line parted almost instantly.
  11. No, it's called the Sprinker, instead of Sprinkler.
  12. Eagle Claw Lazer sharp flipping hook or Hack Attack Heavy Cover flipping hook.
  13. The hooks are different than most frog hooks. They're shorter and at a steeper angle. It would be pretty hard to bend them anywhere other than out slightly.
  14. Some dissolve, some don't. Only way to find out is to try unfortunately.
  15. Caught quite a few on both fishing side by side last winter.
  16. Not for me. I'll get lazy and not retie often enough if I did that.
  17. I prefer those "First rod you get as a kid" hooks over the Trokars by a long shot. Hate how the cut up the bait and the points roll and dull really easily. I use Eagle Claw for most everything and still manage to catch a fish every once in awhile
  18. The 5 1/4" Shine Glide is the best gliding smaller bait I've found. The 120 S Waver was terribly inconsistent for me, as was the Deps 115.
  19. I'd rather them take $.75 off the price and put them in the package without hooks, I swap them right out of the package anyways.
  20. A very dead smallmouth.
  21. I'm a junk fisherman. I usually launch the boat, put the trolling motor down, fish what's in front of me. Not so much on bigger lakes, but smaller lakes it's not unusual for me to never start the big motor until I'm loading the boat back up.
  22. Meh, evening tournaments. Very few guys around here night fish, afraid of the Sasquatches and such. Most of them get cranky if I set the tournament end times more than about 30 minutes past sunset.
  23. Not sure if he'll be able to do anything about it real soon again. Glenn will be at in Florida for ICAST and obviously really busy there. I'm not having any problems with speed or pictures, but everything is always slow for me out in the middle of nowhere.
  24. There's some Youtube videos on how to make your own.
