  1. The river pond below Melvern? It has some good largemouth, crappie, and monster channel cats. I've never seen a smallmouth out of there though.
  2. You could PM DVT for an expert explanation, but to my knowledge, it's basically polishing contact points to reduce friction as much as possible. Which ones, I don't know, but I do know it makes a huge difference in casting distance with some reels, but not all of them.
  3. As an avid multispecies angler, is really hurts to be so far from saltwater where there is so much variety. I've only been to the ocean a few times and caught a handful of species of saltwater fish and none of the more popular ones. I'd love to be able to haul my kayak someone some day and fish some canals or lagoons though. Unfortunately, I'm about as centrally located as it gets.
  4. I like the telescoping type and yes they will work on single hooked baits.
  5. Welcome!
  6. Welcome back!
  7. Welcome!
  8. Big Game for me, but I will be trying the Seaguar Senshi for my jigs soon. I keep hearing good things about it and it's still cheaper than fluoro by a long shot, even though it's expensive for a mono.
  9. I've caught some on them here in KS already this year. Don't think I would stop throwing them if I lived in Florida.
  10. That line will be perfect for swimbaits.
  11. They really just jump all over with no real thought into where they're jumping. I've seen them jump onto land and run into each other midair, as well as countless numbers of them jumping straight into the boat. There was a lot of misses that go into the few hits that I had each time, but it is a rush when you finally do connect.
  12. As long as they allow it, I don't see a reason not to. I fished the local Thursday night tournaments out of a 15' johnboat with a 15hp tiller motor for one summer because it's what I had. Worked out just fine.
  13. My father in law has a couple. I fished with one a time or two to feel what they were like. They handle very nicely and are simple to use. Left something to be desired in the casting accuracy and IPT department though.
  14. Very nice looking fish and welcome to the forum!
  15. I was thinking I heard they are illegal to import anymore to try to stop the spread of them?
  16. I've had good luck with Pline C21. It's cheap and does everything I need it to do.
  17. I know that bowfishing for them has turned into a thing. I wouldn't think they would be a huge concern in Florida since they mainly eat vegetation. Not like there's any shortage of that. Armored catfish is the name I hear them by most often.
  18. Every time I hook myself, I wish I would have. I've started to do it slowly. I feel if I fight a fish correctly it won't matter if I have a barb or not.
