  1. Love the Duo jerks from the 100-120. Pretty aggressive action and louder than a lot of others.
  2. It must have changed because it use to be sustained winds of 25 or more.
  3. I start with a 100-120 size and go smaller if I feel the need.
  4. Almost never. If there's a good chance I'll encounter smallmouth or spots is about the only time I do.
  5. 2 weeks in a row now I've gotten called off Wolf due to the wind. Kind of expected it last week when they were calling for 13mph from the SW (23 when you follow the +10 rule for Wolf). Christmas Eve it was supposed to be 2mph from the west until 10AM, then it was supposed to get up to 6-9mph, very manageable. So it was white capping almost as soon as we got there and never let down until we got called off at 11AM. Never made it anywhere but the outlet. We were slamming some dinks on the clay banks with a Ned (easily over 30 fish off one spot but maybe 2 over 2 pounds). Chris had some TT fish and his big smallie of the day/morning at an A-rig. Really felt like we could have lit them up if we didn't get called off. I've seen it way worse on days they let us stay out there too.
  6. I tried some online tournaments once. My submissions were always accepted without issue, until I won one. Then they decided that I wasn't measuring fish exactly like they liked, so they DQ'd my entry so the guy that won every other week could win. I tried to plea my case to which I was told I could pay $150 to get my picture reviewed (it was $100 first place prize). Said some not very nice things and told them where to put their $150. No way I'd get into an online tournament for money again.
  7. I still use a Curado 200BSF and use to own the Chronarch 100SF that you just bought, I still regret selling that reel.
  8. I don't even know what to say besides, LOCKDOWN!!
  9. Caught my biggest smallie of the day on Christmas Eve after we got called off of the lake due to high winds. Slammed my bladed jig almost as soon as I started my retrieve.
  10. Agreed. I know of some smallies that love to eat purple baits, I bet those would be no exception.
  11. If you can get it in a room that is completely dark and shine a flashlight inside the hull and storage areas, it should show you any little holes or leaks. Best way I can think of other than filling it with water.
  12. Around here it would be pretty hard to beat somewhere in the Ozarks. Lake of the Ozarks, Table Rock, Bull Shoals, Beaver, Grand, Stockton, Pomme De Terre, all within an hour or so if you place yourself right. Then there's the trout parks, Taneycomo (which also has some monster bass). Pomme and Fellows both have muskie. Beaver and Bull both give you shots at monster stripers and big walleye (Stockton is a good walleye lake as well). Table Rock, Bull, and Beaver all give you a shot at 4 different species of bass (LM, SM, spots, and meanmouth). The Ozark streams are great places to wade and catch gobs of smallies along with some spots and LM and various other species. I'd love to live down in that area.
  13. Like the high speed option in the smaller reel. Don't like that it cost $20 more for????? I guess it's harder to build a smaller reel or uses more parts?
  14. I've always thought that the makers of the bait are in business to sell baits. Only way to sell baits and keep selling them is if they work and catch people fish. So they're going to send you the bait setup the way they feel is going to be effective. When I get a bait with a snap/split ring, that's how I fish it to start out with.
  15. Around here it typically goes 18 inches=3 pounds 19 inches=4 pounds 20 inches=5 pounds That fish has the summertime skinny look going though so I'm right there with Lou and Darren in the 4.5-5 pound range. Nice fish regardless of the weight though.
  16. Nice! The fish were pretty active around here on Christmas Eve as well.
  17. I'm a huge fan of the Xcaliber One Knocker, particularly Rayburn Red, gold black back, chrome blue back, and chrome foxy. I've been using the Berkley Warpig for a few weeks now and it seems to be a really nice bait that's been producing fish very well for me. I'm probably going to give the RES Tungsten 2 tap a try shortly.
  18. 22lb bag, all on a 3/8oz black on black Cavitron. Only buzzbait brand you need.
  19. Anytime other than the spawn and I want a swimbait. Even during the spawn I might want a swimbait depending on how locked on the fish is.
  20. I use C21 on a couple rods, mainly baits with trebles. It's a really good line for next to nothing. Have you tried braid with a leader? I use to be completely against braid on a spinning reel, now I only own 2 that don't have braid on them.
  21. Call your local PD or Sheriff's office and they should be able to let you know exactly what the laws are. They should have a non-emergency number you can call.
  22. I'll have to get some better closeups but FishinDaddy went way over the top and sent me a custom built rod! 7' 6" H/MF with an awesome looking cork handle and a turkey feather with a wolf on it on the handle as well was a really nice touch. It was just very nicely done and way more than I could have ever expected and a huge thank you to FD not just for the gift, but setting this up every year. I guess probably the most important part about the rod, it catches fish!
  23. 6' 8" M/F Mojo "Wacky Style" with a 30 size Pfluegar Supreme XT, 10lb braid with an 8lb leader.
