  1. Haven't tried the HUK gear but I own a 100mph suit. For what they cost, they're a pretty big disappointment to me. The stitches around the zippers and cuffs came out in my first jacket and now my current one is doing the same. The main zipper broke on my old one after a little over a year of use, which was why I returned it. One of my velcro cuffs came unglued (that's right, it wasn't even sewn on), so now I constantly have a baggy sleeve and a 4-5 inch long piece where the velcro is supposed to be flapping around in the wind and interfering with my cast. The zippers on my current one aren't much better and constantly get stuck trying to zip or unzip them. They're warm and have kept me pretty dry, but I wouldn't buy them again knowing what I know now unless it was for a huge discount.
  2. I caught 2 this past year in Florida (the only 2 I've ever caught), and I quite enjoyed catching them. I can see where they would be frustrating during a tournament, but I enjoy catching about any species of fish, especially one that bites aggressively and fights very hard.
  3. Or do like me and buy all they have for that price
  4. You can do it one of two ways in my experience with them. One is to run the boat onto the trailer and then crank it down under power before it's pulled out. The other is to back it in so just the very back of the trailer is in the water and run it up onto the trailer until the front is on the hopefully still dry portion so that it doesn't slide back off. My old boat was easy to climb in and out of so I usually opted for the former (which is obviously even easier with a second person). There were times, such as river fishing trips, when I went with the latter and it worked just fine as well. To me, they were a very worthy investment.
  5. They love them around here too. I had 33 channel cats in a single night last summer on a black and blue and a sapphire blue homemade versions. Flatheads will eat them as well.
  6. I'd like to try this but there is no chance my wife is going to be okay with mason jars full of pork backs sitting around the house somewhere.
  7. Of course! One free dose of sarcasm from ww2farmer to welcome him to the forum

It's a great product that's very effective when used properly. I mainly save mine for swimbaits but I'll use it to repair pricier plastics too.
  9. I know, I'm just giving him a hard time. I don't usually care either unless I'm really whacking some big fish. I know I'm not going to catch a 20 pound bag out there so I usually don't even worry about weighing any of them.
  10. What lakes are you fishing? There's quite a few California guys on this forum that might be able to give you real life experience on what you should be using.
  11. Do you have a certain size/type you're wanting to fish?
  12. I watched buddy throw his as far out into the lake as he could get it after he cast off his 3rd A rig in one trip because of one of those pieces of junk. I thought maybe it was just him but I tried to set that thing for him and all it would do is blow up unless it was set so tight that it couldn't cast far enough to be effective anyways.
  13. Chris does need to weigh some fish. I'd love to see these 4 pound smallies he's always talking about catching at Wolf. I've fished there for almost 10 years now and have yet to see a smallie over 4 come out of Wolf. Tons of them in the 3 pound range, but other than one I had jump off last time that him and I fished together that might have gone 4, I've never seen any others that would have been close. Not many largemouth over 4 out of there for that matter.
  14. So many ways to run with that and none of them that are allowed.
  15. Just doing my part for the state to be able to create these amazing bass lakes we have everywhere across the state....
  16. The big Series 3 Freak gets way down there if you're really looking for a deep running bait. Of course, it's considerably larger as well.
  17. I was off on New Years Eve/day, so it went very well. I was also in bed by 9PM on New Years Eve. When you work midnight shift, staying up until midnight when you don't have to just loses it's appeal. Of course I came back and had someone causing all kinds of trouble and ended up in the first fight I've been in for awhile but I'm still on the right side of the ground so it went just fine.
  18. It has back fat, that's something you only see on the fattest of the fat bass. Yeah, I see his pics all the time. Makes me jealous times like right now when it's not going to make it above freezing for a high today and there's snow and ice on the ground. He for sure seems to be able to catch them.
  19. I have done very well for pond crappie with a Pointer 65SP or a #6 Xrap. A crappie tube on a 1/32oz ballhead a couple feet under a bobber and slowly twitched will catch a lot of them also, but the jerkbait catches by far my biggest pond crappies.
  20. Absolutely not. One of the worse baitcasters I've ever seen.

  22. Cats, especially flatheads, love jigs.
