  1. My previous experience fishing around the full moon held true, this weekend sucked.
  2. I've fished with a bunch of local members and a few not local members as well as met a bunch others. Made some good friends locally through the forum.
  3. I don't have much luck fishing during a full moon, other than that I'm not sure what effect it has.
  4. 2008 Toyota Tundra with almost 180k miles on it.
  5. Never have thankfully.
  6. Weeds=bass. Can they be a headache? Sure, but I like catching fish so I don't mind dealing with them.
  7. Once the water gets really hot, bass become neutral to inactive again and baits with less action become better options again. They're also better for flipping in heavy cover because they they don't have appendages to catch on cover when sliding through it.
  8. I've been using a Hakai for quite a bit since a little before they were released and have been very happy with it. I used it for traps in the cold weather months and now it's on my buzzbait rod. Dialing it in took a minute, seemed a little more finicky to set than most other reels, but once it was set I haven't had to mess with it again. It'll really put a bait out there a long ways without much effort too.
  9. Twitch to the side with a short rod. I have a 6 footer I use in my kayak a lot for jerkbaits.
  10. Everything leaves the hotwater outlet here in the summer. That's where I discovered my depthfinder temp readout just starts flashing at 99.9*.
  11. Took my bow with me for the first time in a long time Sunday to the local lake that is way overpopulated with carp, to the point that they're stunted at about 3-4 pounds. Didn't do much good fishing so I slung a few arrows around. Took a couple tries to get my aim back down, but I remembered how pretty quick.
  12. Tried a new little outlet this morning. Didn't catch any big ones, but it was a nice spot and caught a few little ones before I had to head to work.
  13. Fall is usually one of my toughest times of the year until the water really starts to get cold.
  14. Welcome!
  15. Tournaments is the only gambling I do. I don't gamble on it otherwise.
  16. Went and did something different this weekend, fished the river from my kayak and from an island I pedaled to. I started at the ramp with crawlers on the bottom trying to catch some bait for bigger catfish since I didn't bring any bait (dumb move). One of the rods started dancing immediately and I reeled in one of the smallest flatheads I've ever seen. I pedaled to a water outflow and started fishing a grub hoping for a white bass. Hooked a couple big fish that pulled off before landing a little 2-3 pound wiper. Not what I wanted to use for bait but completely legal and I needed something so it got kept to hopefully be turned into a big catfish. I had a bait rod out on the bottom that I tried to reel in because my kayak was drifting, but there was another little flathead on there. I broke off my grub so I tried a jig and crawler. I hooked a big fish that pulled hard and thought I saw a catfish, but it turned out to be about an 8lb grass carp. Pretty crazy to catch one like that, even crazier was I did it again the very next cast! Nothing else was happening there so I pedaled to the island I wanted to fish. Wasn't long before I had my first run and landed a nice blue cat. I was literally releasing this fish after this picture when another reel took off and I beached a big channel cat. Then the turtles showed up. My rods were dancing nonstop with these stupid things. I did manage to catch a couple more decent channel catfish but it was 100* outside and my phone was so hot the camera wouldn't open. I stopped at the outflow on the way back in and made a few cast with a grub. I hooked another big fish and thought it was going to be a catfish or big wiper, turned out to be a common carp that inhaled my grub!
  17. Welcome!
  18. One of the most ridiculous videos I've ever had the displeasure of watching when he put it out. I unfollowed his channel after he posted this junk. It's ironic considering how much DD fishes a wacky rig, which fish swallow at a much higher rate than a Ned rig IMO.
  19. I look to see if the pigtail on the vine directly across from the one I'm going to pick is dried out of not. Once they're dried, the fruit is ripe and ready. We grow our own and it's pretty much ruined me on buying store bought melons.
  20. We're only allowed 2 hooks in Kansas. I always do a hook in the middle with the biggest bait and a little different color or a different colored head, something to attract their attention. The other outside bait is just a crapshoot.
  21. Zoom Z Drop, Green Pumpkin
