  1. This one was dreaming big apparently. If I could just manage to catch one on topwater I don't know if I'd have anything else to shoot for in my fishing career.
  2. Welcome!
  3. Welcome!
  4. I get pretty crazy with senko colors. I'll use watermelon purple flake, green pumpkin, and sometimes I'll even use black and blue That's it, I really have no need to carry any other colors.
  5. I'd really like to turn this video into a sticky
  6. Fishing a squarebill Thursday, wasn't surprised to catch a drum, but how in the world does one eat a squarebill this deep!
  7. That's a sweet looking bait. I'm really looking at picking up some more shad shaped glides, especially as fall is quickly approaching. A Bull Shad was slamming smallmouth today, would have liked to have had a bigger bait to toss at them.
  8. Are you talking about putting them on the screwlock or just the hook? For the screwlock you just have to heat it with a lighter for a second and it screws right on.
  9. I like a 1/2oz for a majority of my jig fishing but will go down to 3/16 or up to 1oz if needed.
  10. I use a rubbermaid tub but I drilled holes in the lid and used wire to build hangers in rows that I hang swimbaits up to 9" from. It takes up a lot of room but it's better than a bunch of hudds with bent tails!
  11. I wire tie all mine. It takes about the same amount of time to tie a skirt as it does to band one and it last so much longer (not that I ever get to keep a jig very long).
  12. I've heard the best way to lift a fish into the boat is to grab the rod about a foot from the tip and lift the fish in like that?
  13. Count me as one of those guys that back reels. I trust my own judgement more than I trust the drag. Plus I can adjust the amount of pressure accordingly to the situation at hand and I can keep the drag pretty tight for solid hooksets.
  14. I fished Cedar Valley Thursday. Wind was brutal, made it almost impossible to fish a jig. Even a wobbler was tough because I couldn't feel it when I fished it slow enough. Didn't touch a good portion of my favorite part of the lake due to the wind. Missed a huge blowup on a buzzbait, going to pretend it was a catfish. Still can't catch anything but drum on a crankbait out there but man they don't mess around. I did get a pretty decent one on a spinnerbait that went 4lb 6oz. Big surprise of the day was a really healthy spotted bass. I've caught a few out there but they've all been really small. This guy was nice enough to eat my wobbler off a rock while I was trying to get it unsnagged.
  15. If only I could have ran the Virb today We almost left because the storms were so bad, wow am I glad we didn't. My thumb is hamburger from lipping all those smallmouth and monster whites we caught yesterday, well over 50 fish between us. I had 2 decent (2lb) fish on a tube but no other bait produced anything worth mentioning. We had 4 keepers (my 2 biggest were 18.5" 3lb 10oz, and 18" 3lb 11oz), and lost at least 3 more, all on Bull Shads. My wrist and shoulder are sore from how hard they hit those things and fighting so many stout fish. I had one big smallie hit so hard my freaking reel almost came off the rod when I swung into it. Couldn't take many pictures because of the almost constant downpours and stout winds, but we did capture a few. 18.5" 3lb 10oz 18" 3lb 11oz
  16. Smoke no flake Yamamoto 4" single tail grub "scrubbing a grub", at Table Rock catches lots of fish. I use to split shot rig them too and did really well.
  17. Welcome!
  18. I fish mine on a 7' 2" MH/F with 17lb copolymer. And they would NOT touch a spook today. We for sure had over 50 fish just on the Bull Shads.
  19. It's been that time of year the last 2 weeks here in KS. Water temps are dropping, fish are scattering, the bite has been tough at best. I'm hoping it will start to improve this week now that they've had a couple weeks to acclimate.
  20. It's what the little dude is wielding in my avatar He get's pretty pumped up whenever I get it out for him to play with, hopefully he'll keep that enthusiasm once he gets old enough to take the stuffed dog toy off and put a hook on
  21. I agree that your impeller probably needs replacing. It's just rubber, it'll dry rot and need replaced regardless of use after a few years. I had something very similar happen with my last boat and it turned out to be the impeller. It wasn't in the best shape so it wasn't pulling enough water at idle speeds.
