That length is length of the spoon, they could double as a garden spade if need be. Never weighed one but they feel to be every bit of the listed 3.5 ounces. They aren't overly thick but haven't measured the actual thickness.

Strike King used to (and maybe still does), make a 10" lizard called the Iguana. I wanted some to take to Mexico but never got my hands on any until after we came back.

It's late summer/early fall. Fish have been beaten and bruised from the heat, infections, fishermen and other predators. Lots of them have sores and injuries from just being fish. That bluegill looks like it was attacked and spit out, not uncommon to see. I'm guessing by a catfish because bass usually won't try to eat one backwards like that.

I caught the bass that feeds on bluegill those size last week too.

A tiger salamander is a different animal from an actual water dog or mud puppy. Tiger salamander larvae look similar to a mud puppy, but transform into the adult salamander and lose their gills. Mud puppies live their entire life under water and never lose their gills. Probably splitting hairs to try to imitate one versus the other in most situations though. I doubt I could tell the difference between the two in the water.

It's been a long dry spell with no big fish on my bladed jigs, then I catch that one, which is the second largest bass I've caught on one of my bladed jigs. They love them on the lake I was fishing. It's just a matter of time before I catch a real monster on one from out there.

Are you sure someone hid them, or did you did you just forget where you put them?

Pro Blue is pretty tough to beat. French Pearl is my personal favorite.

Agreed, looks like bluegill fry to me, but it's hard to tell 100% when they're that small. It's not a bass for sure. Agree with the bottom fish being a chain pickerel also. Very similar to a pike, just don't get a big and can live in warmer climates.

Crazy. Somebody must have carried it in a cooler or something. Even KDWPT's stocking reports show no smallmouth ever having been stocked in the state lake.

The numbers have not been there lately, but the quality is really starting to show up lately. Thursday was the toughest day I fished this week, but it also produced my largest bass of the year so far. I was stubborn and spent too much time fishing memories instead of the conditions at hand. Once I finally switched we caught more fish in the last 2 hours than the whole rest of the day. The big girl bit right at 3pm and gave a heck of a fight. She was very thick and felt very heavy when I got a grip of her jaw. I'd been fishing a dark colored bladed jig all day until I finally made the switch to one of my baits in Golden Shiner color, which is what I caught a majority of my fish on. There was no doubt she was going to eat it. Friday was a little better for numbers and I got a couple nice ones. This was just a small, local lake that we fish Thursday night tournaments on. I didn't fish Thursday night but there was a big fish caught so I thought I'd try my luck. I fished 3 hours and had a 15 pound bag with a 3lb 10oz and 4lb 4oz fish being the biggest. Flipping a lime-purple passion Pit Boss into the water willows was the best technique as it usually is on this lake.

I've been wanting one for awhile now. A buddy texted me out of the blue a couple days ago that he doesn't want to take him with him as he moves to California. He has an Ocean Kayak Big Game Prowler 2 with a paddle, seat, rod holders, and a couple other extras that he's used less than 10 times, getting it for about 1/3 of it's original price. I'm really excited because there's some places that I've really wanted to fish that I can't get to with a standard boat or even a johnboat that this should be perfect for. Does anyone have this kayak or know someone that does? Just curious if it has any quirks or anything that I should be aware of. I'm supposed to pick it up Sunday morning so hopefully I'll have some pictures by the end of the weekend.

There must be a hundred of the dang things at one of the fields I deer hunt. I don't hunt them on purpose but I do usually buy a turkey tag since the season overlaps with archery deer season.

Pickerel could probably handle a baby gator and live in the same places.

With walking baits like a Spook, I walk the bait until the fish loads up, kind of like a buzzbait hookset. Smallmouth are the worst, sometimes missing a bait half a dozen times before they connect. If you're patient and don't set the hook until you feel them though, they'll keep coming back until they get it a lot of the time.

A lot of time I hate technology. When I'm able to capture special moments with my son I know I wouldn't have been able to even 10 years ago is the main exception. That's a moment that father and daughter can cherish forever.

Early in the year has been best for me, before everything spawns and most of the baitfish are bigger.
