  1. some folks use a non-fishing PFD to have less on them, more comfortable to some. I have one and it is cut with more room around the arms.
  2. it depends upon the brand/style of these. Some are quick release.
  3. this came up on a Kayak forum. Some of the guys work at tackle shops where they have just been notified of this by Shimano. Just FYI. It will be a one year warranty after that. Keep your receipts for your existing rods so you can keep the Lifetime warranty.
  4. I have a 1000, 2500 and 3000. I use the 2500 for DS, the 1000 for trout, 3000 for a striper rod.
  5. I think it is a fair price if in good condition for here in CALIF. If the paddle is an upgrade, it has pole holders, and in excellent shape then it would definitly be worth the money.
  6. I sure do...I never fished much in my life. I also hunt and grew up doing that. I thot fishing was for guys who couldnt shoot. I friend of mine did fish. I went to stay on his houseboat for the weekend. He talked me into going out in the evening so, away i went on his bass boat. I had a spinning rod i brought with me and a 2" white grub on it. I saw a small dead weed/bush 1-2' into the water on the shore. I thot this would be a good place to throw to. I actually hit it just right and before the grub could hit bottom I felt the tap-tap-tap my friend had told me about. FISH_ON!.. d**n! this is fun when you hook up. Reeled it in and had about a 12" LM. I messed around a couple of more years and retired from work. I then got the bug to do more.
  7. Punching sounds like a possible solution. Use braid and heavy rod with a 1 oz or so jig. Throw it up in the air and let it "punch" thru the junk and fall to the bottom. Hop it a little and try again.
  8. well, being asian, is it the not working or studying thing that may want them to keep you from this? In your culture work and school are so important they may think that it will distract you from what they think is important. No time for play.
  9. looks like a higher elev lake...may have spots in it, maybe SM. Drop shot works well when its clear.
  10. if there is room in the yak well where the crate sits, you can put the holders on the outside of the crate and gain crate storage space.
  11. and to go along with this question, which tutorial DVD would you guys suggest to learn these things? Ive got a Humminbird.
  12. COOL!!! is the place close enough for you to walk or ride bike to or do you have to get a ride?
  13. When they are coming up to jump I just stick my rod tip into the water and deeper than on a boat cuz Im closer to the water.
  14. the Tracker alum bass boats are much more narrow than the spacce you have. I cant remember the exact width of the trailer, but my 185 fits in my narrow side yard.
  15. join the NCKA kayak fishing forum, several guys fish that area
  16. same for me, 2 + or - is good eating
  17. drop shot for me. Got a 3-8 and 5-10 this last weekend.
  18. light tackle is fine wire. I use it probly the most as I do 75% drop shotting.
  19. Sharp, fine wire hooks go a long way to help the hook set when fishing lighter line. I have snapped a couple of times on big fish too. But, I think it was my fault with not checking my line for nicks part of the time and others having too much slack and snapping the line on the initial set. I now try to get ALL the slack out and make a sweeping set with the fine wire hooks.
  20. look at BASSYAKS web site( I think thats it) they make trolling motor conversions for yaks and have some speed controls. May give you ideas.
  21. I have one, its my main ride. Paddles very well and many guys west coast use them for the ocean. I put 7' rods inside. I got an upgraded aftermarket seat for mine and am very happy with it. I paid $799 for mine new 2-3 yrs ago. After buying it of course I found one with a FF already on it and like new for $650.
  22. Lowrance Mark 4, b&w, built in GPS and AMAZING clarity. Under $200
  23. well, I have never had one of those, I guess I cant say. Do a search on the net to find out. They are less prone to rolling over, but i would guess much harder to get back into.
  24. I use the Lowrance Mark 4, b&w screen, AMAZING resolution, under $200
