Poisoning Pike??
From what I understand it was local fishermen that were responsible for stocking the lake with pike. Just goes to show you shouldn't mess with mother nature.

Daiwa Zillion maintenance
I would appreciate any information on basic maintenance for a Daiwa Zillion baitcaster. How difficult is it to do basic stuff like applying oil to the spool?. I looked at the schematic that came with the reel and it looks like a pain in the a** to even get to the spool. This is my first baitcaster and I have no clue on how to remove the sideplates, I don't want to wreak my new reel. Thanks for any advice you have for me.

hd tv's plasma vs projection
Cart7 told you everything you need to know. Especially the part about avoiding RCA, without a doubt the worst TV I have ever purchased. The RCA of today is not the RCA of 20 or more years ago, since Thomson electronics bought RCA thier quality has fallen fast.

Hook Size
I like all the gamakatsu hooks mentioned, but would avoid the O'Shaughnessy bend hooks. Thier hook point bends upward ( it does not lie-flat on plastic baits ) making skin hooking difficult.

NCAA mascot changes
Money talks. Florida State is allowed to keep thier mascot because of a financial agreement they have with the local American Indian tribe. I assume Danial Synder can afford to do the same.

Computer help
Are you refering to the refresh rate?. Mine is set at 85hz. Your eyes may become fatigued sooner if the rate is too low.

Vick..............
Just wondering if anyone agrees with Joe Horns view of dogfighting and hunting. It sounds like he has been hanging out with PETA. "I'm not saying that dogfighting is good. I feel like all animals should be created equal. I'm not trying to make an excuse for dogfighting, but it's OK for lawyers, doctors, average person to get a gun to slaughter a bear, kill a deer, go hunting. It's legal. I think that's wrong. They say you should be thrown in jail for dogfighting. I think you should be thrown in jail if you fight chickens. You should get thrown in jail [if you] take out your .30-06 and shoot Bambi in the head." http://www.ajc.com/sports/content/printedition/2007/07/22/joehorn.html

New Shimano Reels
I like the look of the new stradic, and the addition of a 3000 size reel. http://www.tackletour.net/T3Forum/viewtopic.php?t=19887

mushroomhead vs slipknot debate (metal fans)
Sabbath - heaven and hell / the mob rules Ozzy - blizzard of oz / diary of a madman ACDC - back in black Slayer - riegn in blood / south of heaven Metallica - killem all / ride the lightning / master of puppets Megadeth - peace sells but whos buying Dio - holy diver / last in line And many other good bands. There was some good music from the 80's if you didn't listen to commercial radio .

mushroomhead vs slipknot debate (metal fans)
I could list hundreds of modern hardcore, black metal, grindcore, death, mallcore (or what ever you want to call them) bands, but that still does not make them quality music.

mushroomhead vs slipknot debate (metal fans)
Yelling and screaming I don't mind, but the barking, gunting, and growling that dominates metal today gets a little old after awhile. I heard a few mushroomhead songs and hated them. I am not a slipknot fan, but I like a few of thier songs. Bands like sabbath and acdc are insulted when people label them metal. Slayer, anthrax, and early metallica are thrash bands. I am not even sure what people mean when they call a band metal. The last time I was excited about a new band was in 93 when I first heard fear factory.

Shimano reel and rod size?
The downside of the 4000 size shimano reel is its wieght. I like the extra line capacity, but not the extra wieght. I would go for the 2500.

Pflueger spinning reel longevity
What is the longest that someone here has used a Pflueger spinning reel. Please God forgive me, but I am actually considering buying a Pflueger. I am looking for a high line capacity, light wieght, high speed spinning reel. The stradic 4000 is too heavy and the Tierra 3000 is too slow. The supreme 8035 looks great on paper. I know the supreme is a new reel, but how is the long term durability of thier other spinning reels?. I would appreciate any info you have.

My disgust with Shimano
[quote It's now 3 reels in a row with the same issue and 3 reels in a row that I have to pay return shipping on... and of course another shipping charge for the replacement reel.

Here is a Wisconsin bowfishing site with some good information about rough fish. http://www.wibfa.com/

This disgusts me...
This was a big issue about 10 or 15 years ago in Wisconsin. It involved American Indians spearing walleye at night. There were a few of them abusing thier tribal rights, but when people found out the majority of them were using the fish for food and not abusing thier rights the issue went away. The careless wasting of the resource is what bothers me about this situation. If this is harming the resource, why is the Utah DNR not putting restrictions on the spearing?.

Austin vs. Nashville
I have lived in both cities and Austin and Nashville are great choices. Both have a great music scene, but Austins is more diverse. If you like the heat go for Austin (not much humidity), but if you prefer a mild four seasons you can not beat Nashville. I believe Austin has a faster growing economy, but the last time I lived in Nashville was 10 years ago so this may have changed. If I was single it would be Austin. Austin, TX was the first city I ever lived in where it was hard to decide if the 40 year old mom or the 18 year old daughter was hotter .

Reel coming loose
You're 100% on the money. The reel I intended to put on this shimano rod is a 8 year old shimano reel so I figured it would be a natural fit. In the future I will make sure they match up. Thanks for the advice.

Berkley Sabertail Bug?
There is a thread about them on page 3 in fishing tackle.

Reel coming loose
I just got a shimano clarus spinning rod and I am having trouble keeping the reel on the rod. I have to retighten it every 7 or 8 casts, I was thinking of using loctite. I will probably return this rod for something better like a st. croix, is this a problem with st. croix rods like the premier?.

Weight difference between Daiwa and Shimano
Why does the shimano stradic 4000 weight 2.7 ounces more than the similiarly priced daiwa tierra 3000?, both have the same line capacity. Is the shimano built stronger?. This seems like a lot of weight difference for reels in the same price range. I want the lighter reel, but not if it means sacrificing durability.
