  1. I had bought three the day they came out. I was impressed with the rods pretty good I bought a 803C, 804C and a 853C. I sold off the the 803 and 804. The 853 is a AWESOME worm and jig rod I really like it and it has kept a place on my boat and thats a hard thing to do, 95% of my rods are JDM Daiwas, Evergreens and Megabass and a few customs. for this rod to take one of my JDM sticks off the boat says a lot about the rod. To me they arent very good looking rods and being someone that fishes most JDM stuff looks and performance are important to me and this rod is VERY understated and just dont appeal to me much with looks.. I sold the other two not because they wasnt good rods they was very good rods but I just didnt use them much however had the 853 in my hand a lot and have enjoyed it a lot for big worms and jigs and pitching light to med light cover. The rods are very sensitive, are they the most sensitive rod ever? no My Black Ravens are noticeably more sensitive to ME then any of these was but IMHO thats the most sensitive rod ive ever laid my hands on. The actions are very Gloomis GLX like and will feel very familiar to anyone that has fished a GLX in the same model. the new guide setup is WAY better then the GLX straight recoils, its no longer loud and rough with braid the new setup sounds like any rod with Sics and braid. If you want anymore info on them pm me your questions and ill do me best to tell you what you need to know! have a great day!
  2. If Im fishing Jerk baits 95% of the time its Megabass or Lucky craft.. However Xraps are fish catchers and I have plenty in the box and have caught many many fish on the shads and jerk baits. thats a good deal on a good bait they dont suspend perfect like LC but hey there 1/3 the price and the action is really good. I would buy them and go catch fish on them because that they will do! and ive caught some 7 and 8# fish on them. And I dont know why your having a problem casting them, they cast like bullets for me.
  3. I have caught plenty of fish on them when fishing really close in to deep brush where I loose a lot of spinner baits. So I use these and there not a bad spinner bait the blades dont turn at slow speeds so thats the only down fall to these lures.... if you want to replace the swivel with a BB one you will have a much better bait.
  4. Pretty much the same as me, But I use Dirty Jigs and a Rage tail trailer a lot to. and some times a big flipping tube with screw in tungsten weights.
  5. I love the Owner baits! I love not having to change hooks as I ONLY fish Owner hooks and everyone of the baits they make are awesome! I really love this one and the popper! it has to be my fav only behind the Megabass PopX I like it better then my Yello magics! I buy mine from a local store here and they sell them to me for 7 dollars each if I buy 4 or more and if you buy 1-3 they are 9.99 each. They ship and over 35 dollars is free shipping if you want the name ofthe store PM me and ill give it to you.
  6. I agree 110% with this statement! They are awesome and I couldnt live with out mine now that I have had one for a while.
  7. I was about 8 years old, and Dad rigged me up a Black shad Culprit worm. that was the first lure I ever fished we caught about 8-10 bass that day and I have been hooked ever since. It has turned in to a 250-275 days a year passion!
  8. If I could have only one line it would be between these three Sunline Shooter Defier Nylon Mono Sunline Shooter FC Daiwa braid and the winning choice would more then likely be Sunline Shooter Defier Nylon Mono because I could use it for everything even tho I wouldnt love it for everything I could make it work. and this is coming from someone that has Daiwa braid on 85% of what I fish.
  9. If you want the best braid out there you have to get Daiwa braid my #2 choice is Toray Bawo Finesse Braid. Cortland Masterbraid is a fine product as well. the new Sufix 832 is awesome as well. Other then these listed I wouldnt have it on my reels. What I just listed are IMHO the best braids on the market, sure they arent cheap but they fish better then the rest with ease.
  10. you mean did Shimano ever make a reel that WAS'NT a clunker? LMAO Im a Daiwa guy, Im just playing hope everyone got a chuckle out of it and no one gets mad. As you know Shimano makes a lot of fine reels, But to get to your Question YES they did as many said They had a HUGE problem with Spinning reels binding up when wet and like others said they would swear on there mothers nothing was wrong and you was lying if you told them there was a problem. It wasnt one reel it was LOTS of reels and it was a lot of different models that it was happening to. As far as I know they havent never made any casting reels that was jusk totally junk.
  11. My first choice would be a Steez701MHFB its rated 1/4-1oz be will cast 1/8 plus a worm with ease. that rod is higher priced then you listed but you could get a used one for around 300. My second choice would be a Dobyns Extreme Cast Rod 703 once again its rated higher then you want to go but I have 2 of these rods and really love them they will do what you are asking well you could go with the 702 but then you would have a rod that is far less versatile however is thats ALL you wanted the rod to do then the 702 would be the better choice I own a 702 as well but it gets very little use. another awesome stick that you could get for under 200 off ebay would be Daiwa Zillion TDZL701MXB or if you want a model that will give you pin point accuracy ide go with the shorter TDZL661MXB. these rods fish well beyond there price point.. there very tough sensitive rods that are light and well balanced and very comfortable to fish with. I would mount a TD-Z 105 on the rod with 12# Sunline Shooter FC and enjoy a fine setup.
  12. My dad use a Abu Garcia Record Casting Reel and likes its for baits up to about 4-5ozs so that might be a nice reel for you thats priced well. Ive never messed with it so I cant tell you to much about it but he doesnt skimp on his gear and if he likes/uses it that speaks something for the reel. He also uses a Pluton as well... Like I said before I would go with a Luna or a Royga2020/Pluton 200 size. the Pluton/Royga are built like a tank and so fluid smooth its crazy and cast like a rocket they also make a really nice hallow body swim bait reel to, I use my Daiwa BBS mostly for that app but the pluton does that well to. they look good and I really dont think you could tear one up thats one SOLID reel. Another thing I just thought about is a Okuma Akena my nephew has one that he uses for big baits well big to him meaning like the BBZ1 shad so 1-2oz baits but it would handle much larger baits and he loves it he wanted it so I bought him a new one on Ebay for around 80 bucks shipped and from how he likes it I think it would make you a fine lower priced reel.
  13. I have fished that line a lot and it always has a yello/goldish hue to it I have never seen it any other way. I no longer fish that line as I have become a HUGE fan of #1 Sunline Shooter and #2 Megabass Dragon call FC I like them better overall. The Shooter is slightly less stiff and more Sensitive to me then Upgrade but Upgrade is more abrasion resistant. Dont worry you about the color you will love that line and it will last you a long time that stuff looks great in the water or should I say doesnt look great in the water because its hard to see lol. Fish it enjoy it and next time you buy so high end FC try Shooter you will not want to fish anything else after.
  14. I fish only Daiwa, I own some other brands but they are just for the Display case. If Im on the water its Daiwa reels and Daiwa, Evergreen or Megabass Rods and a custom or two.
  15. I will have normally 20-25 setups on the boat when fishing a tourney or really hitting the lake hard... Say I have 25 setups with me it will be 2-3 with Mono, 2-3 with Sunline shooter and the rest will be Daiwa Braid or Daiwa braid and FC leader. I will use Mono on Top water rods and sometimes on a Shallow crank bait rod but thats it. Braid+FC leader is the norm for me on most setups. I hate mono on any app that needs long casts. that goes for cheap FC to. It feels like im fishing with a long rubber band so I stay away from it for the most part. I also wont touch mono unless its 17# or higher because the stretch issue.
  16. For my big siwm baits I fish them on a Daiwa Luna 203 or a Daiwa Royga 2020. I have a Daiwa Black sheep that I use and can handle pretty good size swim baits as well but I really dont like it for that app. You can get a Luna 203 for fairly cheap used and they are really good reels and would be my first choice if I didnt want to spend a lot of coin on a Swim bait reel. I would go with a high quality 20-25# Mono or FC. When you say med to large Swim baits give me an idea what is med to large to you? For Hard swim baits I really prefer round reels.
  17. Hit it on the head with that statement. If you use the reel to drag the worm you wouldnt be as precise with your movements.
  18. I wouldnt go anything less then 20/6 on a spinning reel so you dont have to many wind knots. I dont use spinning reels because I have bait casters that can go low and handle the really light stuff but I do use a spinning reel when Im skipping lures under over hangs and what not even tho I use a bait caster to skip most of the time. Just dont go to thin on the braid and you should be just fine.
