Welcome Ladies! Introduce yourself!
My wife is very good at bass fishing, so I am used to being schooled by a woman. I tend to complicate things, while she stays focused on what she is doing. :-[ Welcome aboard ladies. Thanks Glenn and Carrie for this forum and everything else on this site.

HOW DO YOU PITCH WITHOUT BACKLASHING?!?!?!
I have pitched to stuff all over my yard, but never thought of this. Maybe you can teach an old dog a new trick now and then. Thanks for the suggestion. 8-) I didn't think it was possible! To make it even better, try standing on a picnic table bench (or anything to get you a foot or 2 off the ground). This better represents casting off of a boat to a surface below you. My back porch makes a fine casting deck. 8-)

Need some opinions
I use a MF BPS Extreme that has all the power I need for those applications. They tend to the high side on power ratings. I would recommend comparing your finalists in hand if possible, before making a choice. Good luck.

Which Gear Ratio for 10' plus cranking - 5.2:1 or 4.7:1??
Yeah, cause they are junk. They are not going to cast a light crankbait. Doesn't pay to buy something that is not going to do what you need it to do. You guys should know better. What I do know is that the two Pro Qualifier reels I have, and use regularly, are excellent reels, both casting and retrieving. I also know that you seem to have missed learning how to disagree without be disagreeable. There is no need to be insulting. One last thing: The original poster asked a specific question about reel speed. He did not ask for your opinion of Basspro reels.

My first 1st place!
Well done. 8-) I wonder how many tournys have been won by someone using a bait "outside the box"?

Which Gear Ratio for 10' plus cranking - 5.2:1 or 4.7:1??
In every thread where BPS has come up NewKidInTown has been very clear in his disdain for all things Basspro. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but you asked about reel speed. The 5.2:1 at 21 IPT would be my choice.

HOW DO YOU PITCH WITHOUT BACKLASHING?!?!?!
Like any of the other guys who fish at the top level, he could probably do it in his sleep. 8-) I wonder how many times he has made that same pitch? They often make hundreds of casts a day, so I'm guessing tens of thousands of times. I'm always amazed when I watch the pros on TV place their bait in exactly the right spot and then get it out of places most of us would not throw into. Pitching is great way of delivering the bait quietly and accurately. Once you figure out the correct technique it just takes practice. Good luck.

Which Baitcaster of these 4?
At that price what reels are "much" better?

Wireless trolling motor
I had one on my boat that I gave to a friend. It did not respond fast enough, and there is no way of knowing what direction it is pointing without looking at the indicator, unlike a cable controlled where you know by the position of your foot. I tried to get used to it, but I am an old dog...

Revo SX vs. BPS Pro Qualifier
Bucket, it's great you live in Ohio ... you'll be closer to kick J-Mac in the rear end when the pq fails ... GO REVO That's K_Mac if you please. It would not be the first time I have been kicked, although I'm getting a little old for that sort of thing. Maintain your PQ properly and it will outlive me.

Revo SX vs. BPS Pro Qualifier
If I had a nickle for every time we've had this or similar discussions I could buy those two new PQs. ;D BucketBuster as you can see when it comes to fishing equipment many of us have strong opinions. That is part of the fun of fishing, and talking about fishing. 8-) Good luck (buy the PQ)

what to do with old unused fishing line?
I have always put on around 100 yards of "good" line in the past, but when I spool up this year I am only going to use maybe 60-70 yards on most of my reels. I never use that much. I use a blood knot to join similar lines. http://www.netknots.com/html/blood_knot.html http://www.animatedknots.com/bloodknot/index.php?LogoImage=LogoGrog.jpg&Website=www.animatedknots.com

Revo SX vs. BPS Pro Qualifier
I am confident that the PQ uses quality components and will compare well with the Revo. I have a couple and will pick up a couple more before spring if I can find the cash. Lets talk again in a year or two.

Got my first jig bite, lost the fish...
I have not had much luck getting a follow-up strike after missing one on a jig, but I would try a weightless wacky rigged Senko/Stick-o a few times just in case... It sounds like the fish surfaced before you had a chance to set the hook. Sometimes that happens. I have probably caught as many fish on a jig of one kind or other as on everything else combined, and I still have one shake loose now and then. I use Bouya Boo jigs a lot, but have no experience with the "baby" version. A couple of suggestions: 1. Set the hook fast and hard. 2. Make sure you have the proper rod (power and speed) needed to drive the hook home. 3. A fast reel makes it easier to "catch up with the fish" when he is running toward you. 4. Spreading the bristles of, or trimming the weed guard may help some. 5. Make sure the hook is big enough for the trailer you're using. 6. Did I mention striking fast and hard? Good luck and hang in there. Jig fishing is cool. 8-)

what knot do you use to attach braid to flourocarbon?
Roger I would like to use this knot based on its approval rating, but I just don't seem to have the dexterity to do it. :-[ Maybe I can just get my wife to learn it and tie it for me. I'm just not sure my fragile ego will allow that though... :

Another vote for newer the PQ with dual braking.

what knot do you use to attach braid to flourocarbon?
I plan on spooling one of my BC with braid this year and have been practicing with some old Spiderwire that I have had forever. I thought I would use the double Uni, but I just can't seem to master it. RW's Alberto's knot is far easier to tie IMHO. It seems to be very strong. Thanks RW.

apps for a new rod?
Shakyhead, dropshot, and light cranks are what come to mind. Sounds like a nice combo. 8-)

Braid, does color matter ??????????????
This is one of those discussions like, "which reel is better?". We all have an opinion. I think line color matters in clear water. I think line diameter matters more. I think a fluorocarbon leader with braid is a popular solution to the above issues. Good luck.

Yo-Zuri Hybrid or Ultra Soft?
Thanks for the info guys. 8-) Sanother siteBASSER the reels are really nice. Thanks for the work. If you start spooling serviced reels with line you will have to raise prices.

Do we Make Fishing Too Complicated?
The answer for me is yes. As I get older and hopefully a little wiser I find myself concentrating more on what I know works and what I enjoy. I like finding off-shore spots that others often overlook, and carefully picking them apart. It may not always be the most productive technique, but it works for me.

I'm just a little frightened of machines that are smarter than I am; even my refrigerator scares me a bit. How do it know to turn the light on when I open the door?
