  1. I think this is a least close enough to the topic : The MG50/51 is a proven winner, and the new Curados seem to be fine reels, but what about the Zillion? Has anyone fished with this reel? ReelMech is your preference a Shimano/Diawa thing or is there some other reason? Thanks guys.
  2. flechero makes a couple of great points; if I'm f/p into heavy cover, baitcasting is going to be my first choice, but pitching a grub or finesse worm on spinning gear works for me. It really comes in handy when you find yourself a lttle too close due to wind, current, or lack of attention.
  3. All these bouncies are making me motion sick. I need a Dramamine. : It is interesting the guys making the most noise don't have a dog in the fight...
  4. I will go with the great Seinfeld line, "Not that there's anything wrong with that..." :-*
  5. That is an amazing story!!! Pinball wizard by The Who kept rattling around in my head as I watched the video.

Avid you are like me. :-? You have way too much time on your hands.
  7. Muddy that really hurts.
  8. I've always used a small sharpening stone. I have a couple that I found at WalMart, but I've had them for years. It has a groove (it is a three sided stone with two grooves and a flat side) that you put the point in and pull it toward you as you would sharpen a knife. Many of the articles and much of the info on this board and other places seems to support not re-sharpening the chemically sharpened hooks we all commonly use. The thinking is a damaged point can cost you fish, and cannot be hand sharpened to the original level. While this may be true, I'm a hard-headed old guy and still sharpen hooks on what ever I'm fishing with. I'm sure others will give their point :Dof view. Good luck.
  9. The way the weather looks here in St. Louis, and in Detroit, we may not get the Series finished before Thanksgiving. I think under the circumstances we should call it done and give the Cards the trophy. Just thinking...
  10. I hope we play, but the weather is not good. A win tonight would really put the presure on Detroit. BTW Carpenter was about as good as it gets last night. Great Card win!!! PLAY BALL. 8-)
  11. That is "biting social commentary" at its very best. It would be funny if it weren't so close to the truth...
  12. That is an incredible day!!!!! You guys have been killing them this fall. I am looking forward to the next LBH production. Thanks for sharing.
  13. Bammer We all need to vent from time to time. You've been through a lot, esp. at your age, and your frustration is understandable. I often share your frustration. Over the last couple of years I've had heart related problems that have resulted in the loss of my job, and severely restricted my activities. A pacemaker, many tests and procedures, and too many dollars to think about later, I am still having the problems. Your post touched me. I understand the guilt and frustration that goes with not being able to do the things that you want to do, and that need to be done. It is my relationship with Jesus Christ that has sustained me through this. It is the knowledge that He is with me in all the circumstances of my life, that He is sovereign, and that he loves me with an everlasting love that gets me through. My family, including my church family, has been there to help and encourage me, and remind me that I am not alone. It is my prayer that He will give you peace through this, and touch you with His healing hand. I don't know what your religious beliefs are, and if they are different than mine I mean no offense. Know that you will be in my thoughts and prayers. PM me if you want to talk further. Kirby
  14. "Brylcreme" or not, Rogers pitched a gem. We did hit couple of balls hard, but Rogers and Co. have been "lucky" many time this year. Weaver didn't have his best stuf, and looked plum confused at time, but still pitched a great game. When you hold Detroit to a couple of runs, you have done your job. Riskkid, I would NOT bet the ranch on a 5 game Series, unless Detroit doesn't bring their A-game to St. Louis.
  15. Game time 8-) Who will be be hero tonight? I love this time of year. ;D It just don't get no better than this.
  16. riskkid It is almost funny how all of the "experts" have already crowned the Tigers. They are the favorites without a doubt, but the Mets and Padres were as well. We may be a long shot, but I think it is fun being the spoiler and the team has responded to it. PLAYBALL!!!!
  17. I'm with Craw on this; a warm, calm, clear summer night, esp. with a full moon shining brightly. It don't git no better than that. 8-) roadwarrior, I agree with you about the quality of light on a winter afternoon. It makes a person glad to be alive.
  18. Cards win Cards Win Cards Win Great game. Muddy_man it's too bad either team had to lose. We'll try to do you proud in the series.
  19. Rolen finally hits a ball hard and Chavez makes the catch of his lifetime. :'(
  20. Uh-oh :-? Muddy don't buy that Rapala just yet. Your Mojo worked tonight. One game for the right to play Detroit. I love this time of year. GO CARDS.
  21. GMAN Good choice of games. That has to be one of the best games I've seen. It had it all, and I bet the attmosphere was electric. Looks like you may be adding to your tacklebox sometime real soon. muddy_man your right -compassion is not a part of Steinbrenner's nature, and repentence is not part of Pete's. :
  22. Fish Your buddy's fish has a belly much like mine-a fine "full figured" fish.
  23. muddy As much as I enjoyed winning, I could not help feeling a little bad for Glavine. He is a class guy and will have his place on the wall at Cooperstown as soon as he's eligible. Last nights game was a classic. Great ptching, hitting, and defense. You gotta love this time of year. As for Pete, if he shows just a bit of remorse for some of the things he's done he probably will make the HOF. one of the toughest, hardest players of all time without a doubt.
