Do you switch hands when you cast a baitcaster?
If i'm making fairly long casts, i usually switch hands mid cast. Or i raise my rod tip while i switch hands, then reel down.

How close is to close?
I gotta make a correction. I'll let somebody pass if i'm not doing well, and if they acknowledge my presence at least. If i'm clearly doing well and they try to pass me like i'm not even there, then fish directly in front of me, i get PO'd. It's really bad if it's a bank bite. They rarely catch the fish and only scare them. I remember last season i was approaching a large laydown that always produces. I stopped a ways away and trolled in. As i was getting close, some bobber fisherman came flying in on the main motor, staring at me the whole time like i was gonna stop and let them fish there. HA! I put the tolling motor on full speed and steered directly for them. Some profane language followed.

player tricks ref into really bad call
Yeah i saw that! Ridiculous. Then the announcers go on to say how he did get hit hard...hard enough to jar his head back.

Do you switch hands when you cast a baitcaster?
Yeah, i also do the opposite with spinning reels. A spinning rod stays in the same hand the whole time, but the BC gets switched. If i wanted to be consistent, i'd change the BC not the spinning. There's too much stuff to do at the end of a cast with a spinning reel to be switching hands with it. Sometimes ya gotta stop the lure by grabbing the line, and then you have to close the bail. Some people close the bail by reeling, but i always do it by hand and give the line a tug.

Anyone "collect" fishing lures and never plan on using them?
I'd keep it just as a keepsake like a ticket stub and because it looks cool. You didn't pay for it anyways. Possibly being worth a bit more in the long run would just be a bonus for me.

I switch, but i'm going to try to learn how to pitch and make shorter casts with my left hand. I'll still make long casts with my right. A lot more natural. I may just end up getting a left hand reel BC for flipping and pitching though.

New Dog
I got a new dog from a shelter a couple months ago. Border collie and beagle mix it appears to be. Very smart and obedient dog. The last one would see another dog from a mile away and take off. This one will start to run after something, but come back mid chase no problem. I couldn't believe it when they told me she hadbeen into that same shelter twice in the past year. I was relieved to hear the owners brought her in each time due to financial hardship. Looking to get another hopefully. Something small though. This one is 30lbs and inm loking to get one less thn that. A puggle for adoption recently caught my eye...cute little dogs if they take after the beagle more than the pug.

How close is to close?
I'm usually pretty friendly on the water. I don't mind if people get close enough to pitch into my boat unless they're purposely cutting me off and disrupting my intended path. If i'm pitching docks and another guy comes up on me fast, i usually let them pass if they do it friendly enough. I just look at what they're doing and hit the spots they didn't. No different than fishing from the back of the boat. I purposely let people get close and fish my area sometimes. Let's me start a conversation and find out if they're doing any good, and what they've done so far. Same thing when i'm fishing behind a guy. If i'm not doing too hot, i'll speed up on purpose so that he sees me. Then i can ask him if he's had any success. 8-)

What will i catch on this?
I fish a jointed rapala in that size a lot. Swim it slowly just under the surface, then give it a quick rip to make it dive, then let it slowly float back up. Make sure you're watching the line when it's floating back up because they'll inhale it and swim off slowly. I usually fish it in a bright color because sometimes the only indication of a bite is the sudden absence of the bright glow. It's a great lure for catching anything in the area. I catch anything from 15" bass to pike over 30".

Perfect coffee
2 scoops per cup!? Holy cow. I'm new to the whole coffee scene and will drink anything that keeps me from getting caffeine withdrawl headaches. I usually do whatever kinda coffee and 4-6 tablespoons per 12 cups.

solar flares and the classic
They're not supposed to be that bad and may even produce some light shows for some...most likely in the northern parts of the US though.

twh has the new berkley havoc for preorder ?
Nothing special and definitely not worth the price. $3 for 5 or so (just speculating) without the powerbait scent? Pfft.

Which knot?
I tie palomars initially, but if i'm on the water and need to retie quickly then i'll tie the one roadwarrior posted. For mono, i only use the one RW posted. For braid and fluoro, i only tie it if i need to retie quickly, and when i have time i'll usually cut it and retie a palomar.

Mounting a front trolling motor question?
This is always something i wondered about too. On my 14ft aluminum v hull, the boat is way too hard to control without the motor in the water. The back end swings out and if i try to correct it, it just goes the other way. I have to use the main motor as a rudder. My boat is longer, but i bet it would be like trying to keep an office chair straight when you're racing down the hallway. Try it out, but if you have problems with the boat tracking straight, then add some sort of rudder.

First Tounament win (Sort of)
No, he caught an undefinable amount more.

do you name fish
I have that as a ringtone! I love that commercial. I call every large bass "big mama." That's as close as i get to naming them.

bass with big teeth
hmm i disagree, there have been studies on largemouth bass, it started out to be looking at the difference of northern strain and florida strain largemouth bass, in there studies, they noticed that the fish can differ from one body of water to the next. also, did you know bass have a little bit of ability to camouflage? thats why bass are more green and yellow when you pull them from mats. that camouflage is very fast form of adaption. animals will evolve and adapt to suit the environment, and if bass can differ from one lake to the next, imagine what a bass from the other side of the world is like! my guess is that bass in south africa may have evolved and adapted by growing longer teeth to catch slipperier prey. Ignoring the fact that a strain of bass wouldn't make such a large adaption in such a short amount of time: I do notice that some bass i catch have very rough lips, and others not so much, but it would take some pretty large teeth to actually cut the line as quick as he describes.

How in the heck?
I replied to a similar comment a little while ago. For you, it's about the fight. For me, it's about the bite. If i'm fishing in the thick crap, it's probably not because i can simply go out in open water and enjoy the fight of a fish at the end of a cast on light line, take a while to get that fish in, make a few casts and get another. Dragging in a bass on heavy tackle is still fun for me because i'm usually fishing for only a few fish. I do 95% of my fishing in the heat of summer though. I don't fish in the spring or the fall due to school.

Baitcaster virgin
Bad choice of line for trying to learn how to use a baitcaster. 10-12lb mono, or 30lb braid would be a lot better. I wouldn't go much higher than 30lb braid because it's a medium power, but any less and you'll have a harder time clearing backlashes.

Congrats to the Pack
Yup...good game. Now where can i get a few "packers suck" bumper stickers to stick onto my friend's truck as a practical joke. I'm sure i'll never hear the end of it every time football is brought up. On second thought, i don't think i wanna be responsible for the damage his fellow cheeseheads do to his truck when it's parked at the launch.

Is Braid a must?????
I went from all mono, to all braid, and now i only have braid on 1 rod. I fish with 5 rods. With the braid rod i throw frogs, buzzbaits, and other heavier lures. I have one with 15lb fluoro for jigs and heavier plastics. Another that i'm putting 12lb yo zuri hybrid on for lighter plastics, spinners, and cranks. Then two spinning rods. One getting the 12lb yo zuri for skipping docks and the other getting whatever mono i have leftover for really light stuff. For the one rod i have it on, i feel it is a MUST. For everything else, i prefer something else.

So What Are You Going To Eat and Drink During the Super Bowl?
Whatever my friend is making. He likes spicy stuff. He makes these awesome cheese roll-ups with jalepenos or habeneros. The cheese tones down the spiciness going in, but does nothing for the other end. I hope the packers lose.

FISH ID PLEASE
That's a dummy fish. It only bites the lures of dummies. I've never caught one.
