  1. I don't know if this is still available, but if it was you could probably get him lower than 2000. http://stlouis.craigslist.org/boa/2119518085.html I highly doubt this one is still available, but just an example. http://stlouis.craigslist.org/boa/2084708981.html Those came up in a quick search on CL. Honestly you should've been looking at the end of the season before people were putting them into storage. You can wait until the spring to buy one, but it'll be harder getting it for cheap.
  2. Huh...I fish in NY. I don't have proper equipment to throw large swimbaits either. So I throw small- medium swimbaits, and destroy bass on them. I wouldn't worry too much about filling your boat with Musky. Ha ha...i think i'm more worried about losing expensive swim baits to them, not catching them.
  3. I fish in WI. Only thing i'm gonna get on a big swimbait is a pike or musky. I catch plenty of pike as is, and i just don't have the proper equipment to be throwing heavy lures and catching fish like musky. No reason for me to throw such a large bait.
  4. Make fish cribs.
  5. Gas augers and graphs are for sissies I get to go ice fishing in march on spring break sometimes. Gotta wade through some open water, break through the ice until i get to some thick enough to stay on top of, then make a hole in about 5 FOW with a hand auger. You'll be surprised how hard the last few inches of ice are that late in the year...especially with dull blades ;D
  6. Something very easy to see so that i can stay as far away as possible. I wouldn't use a red and black jig. If a jig, it'd be a white one.
  7. Those little twist ties? Seems too weak to me.
  8. My dad gets PO'd every time he sees the trailer on TV. He keeps complaining about how they can't remake a movie like that. He's a horrible movie critic though. He likes some odd movies, and hates many.
  9. I had one of those weed demons, and they're great if you have some large fish in the water you're fishing. You can cast it extremely far due to the weight, and it lands with a very loud splash. I wish they made one a bit lighter.
  10. Haha! Go to a river or creek. I guarantee you can catch something in a small creek with a small bobber. Probably a bunch of little chubs, but it's something. A river can produce decent fish...just fish a little slower and in deeper water.
  11. I know a knot that I can tie in 5-10 seconds. With mono, it's all i use. Anything else gets a palomar knot. I'm pretty sure i recognized it on here not too long ago, but that exbassguide guy on youtube also put up a video of it. My dad taught me the knot several years ago, and said that Jimmy Houston showed it on TV many years ago. It's an extremely simple knot, and i'm surprised many don't know of it. Very simple knot in any conditions. I'll find the video.
  12. Yeah they look like they take an hour or more to make. Almost too nice looking to fish with!
  13. You should put a weed guard on. How long does it take you to make one of these?
  14. I had a fisherman run right into mine not too long ago. I was casting right to it, and he went by in plow mode and ran right into it. How stupid can a guy be be? Throw up a huge wake within short casting distance, AND run into my marker buoy. I guess the buoy wasn't a big enough advertisement. He must've heard it because he slowed way down and looked into the water. Saw the buoy, then looked at me. I gave him a "what the heck!" look and he continued on. :
  15. The youngins do it too. I blame it on a small case of ADD though. "It was in my hand 5 seconds ago..." I have trouble reading books unless they highly interest me also. You can stop me mid page and i may not be able to tell you what the last paragraph said.
  16. Man...i don't know how people find the time. At my high school, there isn't time to do anything. Well, except during lunch. At my brother's high school, he can whip out his cell in the middle of class if he feels like it.
  17. Looks like you guys had a ton of fun! From roughfish to musky...you guys caught it all!
  18. Ha ha, i felt a little tap and set the hook. The bluegill came flying out of the water on the hookset.
  19. I had JRT until a few months ago that would stand up, then sit down on her butt. She could sit there forever like that.
  20. "Oh yeah honey, i haven't bought fishing gear in a while!" ;D
  21. Unlikely nobody will find it, but it's still a good idea.
  22. I remember being really young, and going out with my dad and grandpa every so often. We usually didn't stay long, and they would let me "drive" the boat. I didn't fish with them too often until i was about 10. They never forced me to go. They would ask me every so often, and eventually i chose to go more and more often. Now i rarely fish with either of them. I eventually started doing my own thing...bass fishing. Something neither like too much. But what did get me hooked was how easy the fishing was. We'd just drift across the lake in the pontoon boat for crappie and watch our rod tips. When the fish were biting, everybody caught something. When they weren't, we'd just go in.
  23. When I need to break off on braid I'll just wrap the line around the handle of my pliers a couple times and give a nice pull. A lot of times I will just straighten the hook or uproot whatever I'm stuck on. A couple of times I've wrapped it around a mooring cleat and backed up with the tm. Works every time Oops, somebody already mentioned it.
  24. Somebody else mentioned in another thread the same thing i do. If you're out on the boat, wrap it around a cleat and pull it with the trolling motor.
