  1. Yes Dan, it's all over for me. I already want another one, and am finding myself on Tackle Tour more often, lusting after the Japanese stuff. I wish all the Japanese rods had a USA division and were available. Sounds like it's turning into an addiction... Rods Anonymous's number is 555-929-5311 and you can find a meeting nearby hopefully ;D I've got a used MB rod being shipped even as we key here. Dan
  2. Thanks for the videos guys! On that first one, I think they just speeded up the camera......NOT! I'm an ol' gearhead too. Here's the 1991 Z281LE I use to own and driver's school with it. It was GM's attempt at a factory, TransAM race car. Came with several Corvette parts(brakes, oil cooler). Had the 305ci(TransAM limit)engine blue-printed and balanced with opened up intake, roller rocker arms, cam, MSD ignition, aluminum driveshaft, race wheels with BFG R1s(for the track), Optima battery in the rear 1/4 panel, 6-point roll cage, Recaro driver's seat, Momo steering wheel, etc. etc. It came from the factory with AC delete and no radio and a 5-speed trans. Believe it or not but I drove it daily to and from work with no AC in middle GA :-?. Here it sits in line for a driver's school at Road Atlanta. We surprised a few Porches and Corvettes......sometimes Here is me and my Lightning 'farm truck' running a 12.531 second 1/4 mile. It's very quick with 401HP and 502ft lbs of torque at the rear wheels after I modded it and increased the supercharger boost among other things. I now drive it daily to work and look for some fun once in a while on the streets It has AC . Dan
  3. Excellent rig TN! Love the colors but have never held or used one. Dan
  4. Seaguar Carbon Pro 100% fluro for 95% of my rigs and Power Pro for braid.
  5. Thanks for the kind words y'all. Dh: How long will you be down here? Dan
  6. Good catch young man! Dan
  7. What a great thread 8-)! Awesome pics of some awesome people! Sorry to say I have none from way back then :-[. Don't even know if they had cameras back then ;D. Dan
  8. Never held or used a MG from Kistler but I have several LTA Heliums and their Medium 7' caster is a great all-round rod. No, it's tip isn't stiff. Very forgiving, sensitive but powerful rod that has brought scores of Bass to the boat and the shore for me. That 5 lber in the Outing forum I caught today was caught using that rod and I d/k if I would have felt the light tic that that Bass made when it struck the Pointer with another rod. That Bass fought hard too. Dan
  9. With your first name, you've got to go with Matt's Lures Caught my first swimbait Bass and my PB on one. Dan
  10. Hard core Basser Avid! Can't do the night time deal up here. :-/
  11. Outstanding catchin' young man! Those are some beautiful Florida Bass and what great pics you take 8-)
  12. Congrats on your first! Been tough fishing for me with the rain and the cold. Dan
  13. Cold and windy this AM so I decided to walk the bank of my boss's smaller pond. Tried drop-shot(one bite-no hookup), jig, rat-l-trap, Pointer, T-rigged Swimming Senko, and a few others. The only bait that got bit was the Pointer. Caught 4 one-pounders and 3 dinks until the 5 lber finally bit. I hardly felt the hit but my Helium helped out. I was afraid the well-worn 12# fluro would break so I played her gently, walking back and forth along the bank until she wore out and I was able to lip her. 5 lbs--22" Same Bass Dan
  14. I use this knot. Just takes a little practise and the useful features of that jig are worth it. Dan
  15. The Jig X for me.
  16. No way Jose! I'm with Avid on this . Congrats but not for me. My blood's too thin ;D.
  17. I've caught Bass using them as a jig trailer. And here's another one. They work even better T-rigged IMO. I've also caught some with a similar bait, the Paca Craw. Here's another Paca Craw, T-rigged Bass. Dan
  18. Btw, if y'all want to see Supermat(and some huge Bass), get a copy of BASSWESTUSA's Nov/Dec 2006 magazine. 8-)
  19. Thanks to y'all for the very kind words. ;D @ Al! It can get a little fractious especially with the wind blowing me into wasp's nests as I try to get the camera and boat positioned with the sun in front of me. Dan
  20. OC: Beautiful pic! Very clear and sharp with great coloration but how do you draw on it? That's always puzzled me when I see it so I thought I'd ask here. Maybe some other guys would like to know too. . Dan
  21. My catchin' has been slow lately, cold, rainy weather, and me being unable to locate or entice any bites except for some dinks here and there. Went to the swamp pond and it was 'up' due to the rain lately making it muddy where I put in. Water temp was 56F and the water was clear. Caught the first one from the bank and then right after putting in, I caught the 3 lber. No other bites so I quit after about 2 hours and headed over to my boss's smaller pond. Caught 8 or 9 keepers but no pics from there. 2 lber D/k why I held the rod that way? Dan
  22. Right now at least. Dan
  23. None of my Kistler LTA Heliums have a split-grip but most of my MB rods do. I like them both but the split-grip MBs are surely 'purty' . As an aside, I don't think I'll ever use a pistol grip rod as the longer handled rods(split-grip or not) make for longer casts, more secure(the handle lies up against my forearm) pitching, and more power when fighting fish. Dan
