  1. I was thinking the same thing.
  2. for keel weighted hooks on the fluke I like the arkie ones from Walmart they are cheap and dirty but work great in some super light weight sizes also
  3. another way I like to fish it frequently is nose hooked on a jackall iShad jighead or a weighted wacky hook but nose hooked on a fluke its killer. Another top producer for me and you never see people mention is I tie a 14-20" leader to the hook of my jigs then put the fluke on texposed work the jig like normal and just let the fluke do its own thing absolutely clutch on heavy pressured days on the lake.

I used to when in college we would make the trip from Hartford to Boston to one of the shops get some cigars hit up some bars and back to Connecticut for Monday morning class. Couldn't tell ya what kind though. They sell a lot of them here in Kuwait in the local shops some are labeled as Cubans i kinda wanna pick one up and try it before I leave.
  5. well no it wouldn't be for one job just seen that on the article about that city I'm sure there's more then just that to get it ranked for one of the best places to move to in the states
  6. I just seen an article on yahoo for 10 best small cities to buy a home in 2 of the top 3 were in Texas. number one was Spring, Texas number 3 was Missouri City. Spring supposedly is having ExxonMobil is moving its global HQ there in 2014 bringing 8000 jobs with it. Maybe one of the places I look into.
  7. I fish with my shirt off now and then occasionally seeing my reflection in the water.........iv been called a hairy ape so I guess big foot wouldn't be far off either lol
  8. The canal sucks simply put unless your in Tondawanda by the mouth I used to do the derby as a kid and had great luck now like Marty said its really dropped off. I fish the canal once or twice a year usually for cats with chicken liver with mediocre success. I have caught bass but never anything of size and there to hard to come by for me even when in a boat. I fish the canal though between Lockport down to the Brockport area there's some quarry/spillways near Holly that are loaded with some nice bass though if you can get there when kids arnt jumping in or partying down there.
  9. I caught one on my home made one with a fluke on it I only made maybe 10 casts and picked up a regular jig back up but I liked the action and presentation of the jig rig/bass dude rig/ jika rig.
  10. what he said I use 2 split rings how ever and my free trokar hooks I got for that survey
  11. here seen this the other day for you chipmunk guys especially you john
  12. I still remember that first time we went fishing on lake alice with them running all over you expressed your hatred for them multiple times haha
  13. Behind the scenes of some of the top reel manufactures would be cool like Abu, Diawa, and shimano. I like reading bout techniques a lot also or how to fish different seasons though 90% of it is related to Florida and southern states us northern guys gotta take them articles and then figure out even farther then most to apply it to our seasons up here our bass spawn months after they do down south and after that post spawn tough period we jump right into fall feeding frenzy then are iced out for a few months.
  14. we know its not a race but hopefully the waiting shouldn't be bad we already have our slot and start time locked in we go on the first day at 0800 first wave so the obstacles wont be all muddy and beat up from hundreds before us.
  15. Our whole platoon has signed up except maybe 3 or 4 guys team Workhorse sense that's our call signs here workhorse 1bravo ect. The site says it will be 1:30 hours from Buffalo AND Rochester which buts it right smack dab in my back yard or close to it I'm thinking I live right in the middle of both cities.
  16. Any one here ever done it? A team from my platoon is going to do the one in Buffalo next July I just signed up for it with them. http://toughmudder.com/
  17. I think its time for a new jig that hook looks rough
  18. It was that day that made up my mind early bout being in the military and here I sit typing this over seas. We had a 5K run for it last night it was the biggest turn out iv ever seen we do 2 a month the whole base minus 1 platoon working gates and towers ran it. That platoon did it after shift though in formation.
  19. ahhhh ok I was wondering if that's what it was but wasn't sure, were having a 5K run tonight to remember it I'm doing in like 45minutes actually. I was in 8th or 9th grade math when it happened we got pulled out to watch it on tv in the Spanish classroom
  20. I'm lost what happened
  21. +2 always seems to work that way especially on slow days then a light bulb goes off and I realize I wasn't going slow enough which in turn makes the fishing better and becomes a fast paced day if that makes any sense lol.
  22. I heard they use the 7" senko's like a switch little bit more meat to em to thump em good
  23. Yeah we don't do any unnecessary spending now even what we did at first wast on frivolous stuff other then the 300 I spent on tackle everything she spent was stuff we needed kids clothes, new mattress, new pots and pans, a grill, a small tv for the kids room, and a tread mill. we put away 500 every 2 weeks then what ever is "extra" at the end of the month gets put into savings as well its usually between 1500-2000 a month the past few months now that we got the things we needed. Christmas is coming so it might dip a little bit she said something like 100 out of every paycheck towards gifts. Its still not definite but anything can happen. The reenlistment used to be out of my head there was no way I was going to reenlist but now I'm considering it again and if I will stay infantry or reclass to a mechanic or even crew chief on a helicopter crew iv considered to iv been talking with a few here for a few reasons one is I want there job and 2 I get to go for rides in birds when we make some "crack deals" lol.
  24. A-Jay that's actually some of the reasoning I did also yes I wish i was there to see them have there first words or walk like the baby and toddler stuff but at the same time there young enough they wont really know the difference either they just know I'm "working" as we explain it to my 3 year old. Timing as well were at a point where the military is changing especially guard and reserve units instead of 2 week long AT's there gonna make them 7-12wk and then 1 or 2 day drills threw out the month rather then the current 2-7days each month and 2 weeks each summer. Who knows what our stance will be in the middle east as well in 2-4 years I personally think we will be in another conflict withing that time. If I reenlist is also timed perfectly with a huge chunk like 60% they said of the NCO's in my company are retiring or getting out then opening a lot of NCO slots right when I will be able to take one and I have enough points to be on top of the STAP list. So i could use that as a bargaining chip to reenlist as most the senior E4s do. Bassn I know the kids are never gonna change like you said the wife deal is all un foreseeable future I could go one way and it goes the other. If I was single and no kids my military career would be WAY WAY WAY different I would of went active or volunteered for every deployment possible and every school I could I turned down both air assault and airborne because they conflicted with my wedding date. Same goes for other hooah schools didn't try or turned down because I wanted to be there for my kids. All that comes up though with reenlisting just means more time spent away and more schools to turn down or accept this time around idk but I have a till Feb2014 to reenlist though.
  25. We had discused it when I was home last month we kinda dropped the ball a little at first with saving and paying off debts and this is kinda a way to balance it back out to how we had hoped cuz were a little behind what my plans were. Her and I both kinda went on a spending spree at first nothing stupid she furnished the house with some new things and got the kids new clothes I, I went crazy on ebay, the flea market, and TW lol. I do miss my wife and kids a ton but at the same token I know by staying longer means I can provide more for them in the long run.
