Ok another serious question as I'm a avid hunter and what ever state I move to I'll be in search of new hunting property and most likely I'll be stuck with hunting state land. How is the state land out there is there any I mostly predator hunt so maybe I can get in good with some ranchers taking care of pesky pigs and coyotes and lead it up to some Texas white tails. I also know Texas coyote season is year round big bonus for me as I'm limited to just a few months in NY.

I had a reply to one of my threads similar to this just on punching and flipping in general and I was suggested to try octopus hooks with a snell knot so it cams the point out when the weight hits the eye. I rigged it up and caught a bunch of #1'ers on it and a beaver style bait.

I looked up there pay and after 91+ months of service which is 7.5 years the highest a CO can go according to there website for applications and screening process they only make about 70% of what I make now or If I just go active duty I think NY corrections pays more and NYS sucks lol.

No there are New Yorkers people from NYC then there is the rest of us and you can definitely tell the difference.

I haven't been to the ones by me in some time due to the deployment but the one in Buffalo(45min away) is awesome the fishing guy there is a reel help and very knowledgeable there fishing and hunting selection is huge along with fire arms and bows. The DSG in Buffalo is the same just huge and has everything. BPS was going to come to Buffalo but backed out. Buffalo is right on Erie and Ontario. The Rochester Gander is the most worthless establishment ever same with the DSG out there.

I'v heard a lot of people recommend the DFW area I just spent a good hour and a half almost 2 hours on rigzone.com looking at the 1800 oilfield jobs in Texas I didn't see many DFW ones though unless they are there but I don't know surrounding towns or cities so i over looked it. I did see a lot for Houston, Midland, Odessa, Corpus Christi

What part of Texas is the best? My deployment has 3-4 months left in it and iv been working on my resume to start sending out for jobs. The wife and I have been talking bout moving to Texas for some time now but the state is so d**n big idk where to even look lol. We don't like big cities at least not to live in we like to be a short drive away. I'd like to work in the oil industry as a field service tech but will do almost anything like Security, Auto/diesel Tech, Law Enforcement. I'v heard some good things bout the DFW area is there anywhere else I should look at or avoid for that matter. Corpus Christi looks like a good area and iv been told Odessa isn't worth moving to pretty much,

That's messed up I don't personally waterfowl hunt but I deer, varmint, predator, and small game hunt and during deer season I always wear orange and once to my stand or blind I wrap the vest around the tree so other hunters know I'm there and it doesn't spook the deer either. the others I don't wear orange unless its during deer season but I always call and tell who ever's property I'm going to that I will be back there and my car/truck parked at the entrance are usually sign enough that I'm out there to anyone who might stop. You would think hunting geese or any waterfowl he would have a decoy spread which as fisherman we would notice and keep away from because obviously some ones hunting. If he had shot at me like that I would of waited by his truck with the officers you said its a small lake so I'm sure you parked close to him I would a called the cops or handled it myself personally I'm not saying with violence but I would a had some not so nice words.

I like to have a dedicated jig rod just because I feel it needs one yes almost any rod will work a jig effectively but for me there's to many times where i'll be going along and see a spot that a jig needs to go into even if just a few casts and then back to covering water with a spinner or crank so I like having a jig rod that stays 100% a jig rod.

I remember my dad always told me stories about when my grandma would come over he would grab his stuff and dart out the backdoor and fish in the river behind the house my parents had. I started doing the same thing my mom would tell me grandma is coming over and i would be out the door before she could finish saying it. I still do it to this day haha. My grandma is NUTS!!! I'm gonna have to pass that one down to my sons also but it will be when my mother is coming!

That's dumb lol I Just thought of it or it just clicked but Europe and most everywhere else isn't just using turbos but they are using turbo diesels in EVERYTHING they have figured out a long time ago that diesel is much better for the environment and you get better fuel mileage a ton better. The new diesels put out cleaner air then they suck in the engine purifies the air pretty much. It hasn't always been this way but in recent years they have been doing this I went to a Cummins workshop for the ISX engine they put in rigs and during the classes they had one running in the room no ventilation for hours that's how clean it was. However American company's still haven't caught on your best bet is to buy German here in america if you want the European technology

Me and my Brother in law were discussing it when I stopped there last week hopefully we get enough ice this year last year was rough but helped him cuz shanty's and augers were CHEAP so he stocked up and is all ready for when i get back late December mid January to go ice fishing up in ww2farmers neck of the woods probably.

I just picked some up from wallyworld when i was home on leave spooled up 2 reels with it I thought it worked just find for how much I used it honestly I couldn't put down my jig set up so my plastics and cranking set ups didn't see much action and that's what has this line on it. When I did use it I liked it it was better then my old FC vanish........

Turbo timers are your best friend beat on her drive her normal it doesnt matter just get out the car and let the timer do its thing it will kill the engine when the turbo's/oil temps are in spec or turn off at a set time. I had HKS timers on all my turbo cars(300z,240sx, Talon TSi)

I remember one time I was fishing during the summer by the waterfalls in the thread about my sons fish this past week but Clay and I had saved up some money and bought a cast net. We used to catch all our own bait usually crawfish but we wanted minnows so we got this cast net and caught hundreds of shinners and alewives. We started around 7am rode our bikes there from Clays house and started catching minnows and fishing. as the evening came I snuck home and grabbed my lantern and snuck back down the the falls and we continued to fish all into the night. I had put on the last big alewive and cast it out there and passed out on the rocks waiting. Now this minnow was huge I remember doubting it would catch anything it was the size of most the bull head we had been catching. Sure enough though I get woken up to Clay nudging me asking where my pole was we started shining the light in the water and seen this rooster tail getting thrown up from my reel getting dragged into the water. I ran out after it as the water is only 2-3ft in MOST spots I say most cuz there's a few big holes out there well i found one of the holes got completely drenched lost my hat but still managed to get my rod and then back to shore. I fought this thing for a good 45 minutes I remember Clay was looking at the town clock thinking of how we were gonna be dead when we showed up home. It ended up being this monster of a channel cat we got it up and on shore held it for a bit and while figuring out how we were gonna make a stringer it broke the line and fell back in never to be seen again. We walked our bikes back home to my moms house in town and my mother and his parents were there waiting with the police. There I was soaked and Clay bone dry other then some fish slime. We got the lecture of a life time wasn't the first time or the last though lol. The whole we thought the worst and what were you thinking speeches. The whole time they searched for us they never did check by the creek you would think our parents would know us and the fact that we pretty much lived at the water falls it should of been the first place they looked but it wasn't not that time or like the 5 times to follow all with the same outcome. We ended up being grounded for a week I think I did dishes and buttered my mom up like I always did to get a reduced sentence. We were maybe 11 when this happened and we got home at 330am I remember it like it was yesterday And yes me and my best friend growing up shared the same name and birthday pretty much I'm 5 days older we did everything together from age 7 till I got married 4 years ago.
