  1. OUCH!!!!!!! I'm in pain just thinking that
  2. just reading your post made me cringe the thought of it. I personally haven't had them but iv heard there extremely painful we had a guy get them at MOB station and it knocked him out of this deployment and they sent him home he was on bed rest for a while and ticking blood like crazy.
  3. I'm gonna be that guy and say no body likes a quitter lol jk keep it up man
  4. Bullet selection comes into play if your serious bout protection in my opinion. Me and a close buddy here in my squad were having a conversation about this just the other day. His house has been broken into 4 times in the last 2 years and just this year while home on leave he was in his restaurant and had a guy pull a gun in his restaurant. He lives and has his business in a not to nice neighborhood in Rochester. He was asking me and a few other "rednecks" about picking up a shot gun for home defense and he wants to get a AR/M4 as well. I told him well the AR may look intimidating its not the best choice we told him get his pistol permit and a mossberg 500 with the cheapest smallest shot possible. He was concerned bout collateral damage and his kids which is why I told him chill shot as its not gonna go threw the walls unless your point blank with it. Then we got into discussion on bullet choices for hand guns. which is where most people I think are lacking in knowledge even most hunters. They make rounds both factory and components for reload that are low velocity and the bullets are made to go in and not come out or stop when they hit something and not go threw the next 3 rooms. Most people stock up on Mil surplus which is FMJ and some times has a steel core. That stuff is made to go threw armor, walls, cars you name it its not the best choice for HD unless you wanna worry bout hitting family or even your neighbors in there house. Look stuff up on youtube if your curious what does what ammo wise there are tons of guys with videos shooting into things to see what the bullet does like when the Zmax ammo came out a guy loaded up some in a 45 I think and shot it into a pair of jeans in a pool then into a dead pig wearing the same jeans. Perfect pedal of the bullet and only went in a few inches and didn't come out. To me the plastic tipped bullets are great for HD they go in and don't come out they will do 100% more damage then FMJ or ball type ammo made for plinking and geneva convention. The plastic tipped and HD rated ammo are made to stop when they hit walls and such or some like the max line up from hornady most of them explode and disintegrate on contact with stuff that's hard even 2x4s and plywood yeah it goes threw plywood but if you ever shoot and have another piece behind it or cardboard look and see what it does its mostly just shrapnel.
  5. I did a quick search for LEO jobs in my area there are none what so ever no county jobs or state. I went for CO a few years ago got a 87 on the test was like 12## on the list I was told that was really good but that's all I heard got a letter saying my score and ranking talked to a few CO buddies they all said that's a good spot because 3/4s of the people in front of me probably wont make it threw all the screening. I never heard or got anything back I called the state and county to see where my application was and they had no clue I even took the civil service test. I even looked into conservation officer no luck there either. Yeah truck driving will probably suck but it looks like one of my only options since what ever I do I need lined up for 2 weeks after I get back when ever the hell that will be.
  6. do you mean like an AR or a bolt rifle. Me my .243 I wouldn't want in home defense unless well no I wouldn't want it lol. I cant hit the broad side of a barn with it up close you get out there a little ways and I'll put it between your eyes every time but Iv missed 2 woodchucks with it under 20 yards keep forgetting you gotta aim high up close. Now an AR no problem we just did some shoot houses last week I would have no problem using an AR for home defense.
  7. Yeah IDK I need a secure job there's no LE jobs in my area. When I was younger its what I wanted to do but now idk I just need something to put food on the table and not really have to worry wether or not I can find work. Trucking there is always work to be had.
  8. yeah the ground sucking it up was the coolest part seeing it downpour but not be wet was crazy back home that much rain would have caused standing water all over and a few small streams to flood for like a day but here it just evaporated or was soaked up instantly. Now when I was in so cal for a month at Ft Irwin it never rained either it mudded lol mud would seriously fall from the sky it was so dusty and sandy with so much sand in the air when it rained which wasn't much it seriously dropped little mud/sand balls. Then there's Ft Drum and Camp Shelby them places the rain is like the size of a golf balls and never stops lol,
  9. It has been raining here in Kuwait off and on since around 330 am first rain since we have been here(April). at first it was just sucked up my the desert I mean even this morning at 5 am while I was at the track it was down pouring but the ground was dry it was the craziest thing I had ever seen raining hard but the ground just absorbed it like a sponge and never got wet or muddy and the sun wasn't even up yet. It just started getting wet out around 3 pm with a few puddles and mud but not much. Its just crazy how fast this desert will just suck up the moisture. Now If I was home I probably would have been miserable and trying to stay out of the rain but considering I haven't seen a cloud in the sky here ever till today let alone rain it was a nice change and not to mention it was the first day we didn't break 100*.
  10. well that was what I was trained to do but they sent us here to Kuwait but I am an infantryman we are the trigger pullers and for MOUT I was the breach man.
  11. yeah its crossed my mind but IDK if id like it honestly just sitting handing out traffic tickets idk I may try its on the list of maybe's
  12. I understand the away from home part I come from a family of truckers. I know a few people who personally went to ntts still reside in WNY and make good money one of them people happen to be my brother in law who lives 4 miles down the road. He drives locally covering from Buffalo to Syracuse farms delivering fertilizer, fuel, what ever farms need basically he delivers to farms that's it and is home every night for dinner bringing in a little over 50k last I asked him hes not independent he works for a locally owned company. I'v talked to him about it and if maybe I could get in where hes at doing the same thing he said there's a good chance as a few of the guys are looking to retire. The being away from home thing does suck but nothing me or my family isn't used to don't forget I'm in the military and been prepping for a deployment that I'm now on for the last 4 years gone a week every month minimum with the majority of time spent away between 2-6 weeks at a time for schools and training to go to Afghanistan and now I'm here in Kuwait been gone since January. Well being away sucks even if I'm OTR and only home every few days to start out its still better then not home for a whole year or only home a few weeks spending the rest of my time out of reach and out of touch. At least driving there are cell phones and I can call and maybe be home as well. There are a bunch of listings within a 45 minute drive of my house in NY all starting at least 45k guarantied with room for more if willing that also give full benefits and guarantee you will be home every night, every other or every weekend depending on which company but there's a bunch of each that iv found some even with signing bonuses if you come from NTTS which is nice. Its one of my only choices this economy blows and its something that will be easy to get if anything ever happens there's always truck drivers. I mean I already have gone to school once got my ASE master tech for automotive repairs you name it but the pay sucked and even now iv thought bout going back to wrenching but I really didnt like it and its hard to find a good Tech job with out moving into the city something I hate the thought of I'm a country boy I hate going into my home town village and its barely a mile long with no traffic lights and 1 general store lol.
  13. what man doesn't like beer lol
  14. I just got done doing a PT test 20 minutes before posting that lol so no more push ups lol oh and blood makes the grass grow........theres no grass here though but neither is there blood anymore that was what 21 years ago Iraq came here. Theres still bullet holes in buildings and walls where they executed Kuwaiti officers plus there's tons of mortar impacts all over to I got some cool pics of them. Smoking will hurt your muscle growth though it limits the amount of oxygen your blood will carry and as you know your muscles need that blood and oxygen for that pump. My old lifting buddy here he started at 112lbs hes tiny hes up to 120 now and he takes every supplement there is drinks tons of protein shakes trying to get to his goal of 150 which will never happen because he cant stop smoking. He smokes 2 packs a day he lights up on his way to the gym lights up after 30-45 minutes in the gym he takes a break to smoke then stops on the way out to smoke again. He smokes like crazy and wonders why hes not getting any growth hes cut and strong he puts up a lot of weight for his size but hes not getting the gains he wants. He tried quitting a few months ago but we wanted to kill him he got so uhm beachy lol it only last a few days and he went back.
  15. Everyones contimplating quiting and I'm thinking bout starting again lol. I have a pack in my locker I'll smoke a few then get sick of the smell and disgusted with myself and I throw em in the back my locker for a while then repeat lol.
  16. So I'v been trying to figure out what the hell I wanna do with my life after this deployment and essentially the end of my military career. I was thinking bout moving to Texas and working in the oil fields and was pretty set on it but iv been re thinking that decision. I'm now thinking I'm gonna go to NTTS(National Tractor Trailer School) when I get back and start driving trucks. The GI bill will cover the whole school plus I get paid for going to school so I wont get anymore student loan debt to worry about. The school is 25 weeks and gets me CDL-A and B licenses plus I think Hazmat ad any other endorsements. Iv been looking at the job market and there's tons of truck driving jobs everywhere most pay pretty good with good benefits. I know it can be hard work and stressful at times my father was a truck driver, my grandfather was one, father in law was one and my brother in law went to the same school and is what hes doing now as well. My brother in law went to the same school started with over the road as most do only home on weekends then after 6 months moved to regional home every other night or every night depending on work orders and now he does local stuff home for dinner every night making a little more then he started out doing OTR after not even 2 years. So I know what it entails I remember watching my dad leave for a few days on trips and not being able to go over there some weekends when he had custody or I would spend my weekend with him in the dump truck when he was doing that. I can still take this and go to Texas I figured to as there's class A driver ads on the rig zone for oil jobs in Texas and I could still move there work in a booming industry and if the bottom ever fell out I wouldn't be SOL with no job and work experience only for that one thing. With truck driving I can pretty much go anywhere and find a job I mean hell even in my small little home town and surrounding ink spills on the map that make up Orleans county there are a lot of truck driving jobs that pay good its just all in how much effort I want to put in. Any one on here drive or used to drive or even been to NTTS
  17. I think were in for a rough winter as in very cold. Which though I'm liking this warm weather and not a big fan of the cold. Cold weather brings 2 things I do love though great predator hunting and ice fishing so I welcome it. From reports im getting from guys back home all the deer and bear killed have been loaded with fat more then usual and the coyotes same thing all ready thick coats with some fat stores fox just opened yesterday so I don't know how there coats are but so far all the animals are pointing to it being a cold winter.
  18. Check Craigslist theres always youth bows on there it seems
  19. been there done that dealing with it while on deployment to but when im home wht iv found to be the problem not that its really a "problem" but the kids. do you guys ever drop the kid off with in laws or your parents for alone time like date nights or just a night home alone just the 2 of you. When my wife starts getting like how your saying your wife is we ditch the kids for a night and I take her out to Olive Garden or Outback her two favorite places to go and just have a night like how it was when we dated before I put a ring on it. The aftermath usually turns out how it was before we got married to which is the bonus for me! lol. My wife is bi polar and has depression issues as well iv learned to ride the roller coaster and deal with it I'v learned to red the warning signs and can pretty much tell when its coming shark week usually triggers her swings lol even my oldest son has learned when she gets like that he kindly asks to spend time with papa till shes done being crazy its cute and hilarious as hell lol. My advice spend some 1 on 1 time either out on a date doing something you haven't done in a while or talk to a councilor or even family members if there close usually when SHTF or is starting to I call or message my sister in law and she talks some sense into her after all they are sisters.

I hope my wife doesn't read this lol......Worst Investment our wedding I paid for the whole thing including her dress took my whole sign on bonus(20k) weddings IMO are the biggest waste of money yes me and her remember it but anyone else not really I basically paid 20 grand to give all my friends and family a reason to get **** faced drunk. My wife couldn't even drink at our own wedding she was 10 weeks pregnant so I didn't drink(that much) since she couldn't. Actually she would agree if she did read this because she admits we went over board on it and should have listened to her parents who said just do a very small wedding in front of the judge and a small party at there place but every girl wants there big fancy wedding. Like rockchalk best investment was my wife as well my 2 boys have came from it and more then likely a 3rd will be on the way in a few months if she has her way lol.
  21. A farmer drove to a neighbor's farmhouse and knocked at the door. A boy, about 9, opened the door. "Is your dad or mom home?" said the farmer. "No, they went to town." "How about your brother, Howard? Is he here?" "No, he went with Mom and Dad." The farmer stood there for a few minutes, shifting from one foot to the other, and mumbling to himself. Then the boy said, "I know where all the tools are, if you want to borrow one, or I can give Dad a message." "Well," said the farmer uncomfortably, "I really wanted to talk to your Dad. It's about your brother Howard getting my daughter Suzy pregnant". The boy thought for a moment... "You would have to talk to Dad about that. I know he charges $500 for the bull and $50 for the pig, but I don't know how much he charges for Howard."
  22. Two men are driving through Texas when they get pulled over by a State Trooper. The cop walks up and taps on the window with his nightstick. The driver rolls down the window and WHACK, the cop smacks him in the head with the stick. The driver asks, “What the [beeep] was that for?” The cop answers, “You’re in Texas son. When we pull you over, you better have your license ready when we get to your car.” The driver says, “I’m sorry, Officer, I’m not from around here.” The cop runs a check on the guy’s license, and he’s clean. He gives the guy his license back, walks around to the passenger side, and taps on the window. The passenger rolls down the window and WHACK, the cop smacks him on the head with the nightstick. The passenger asks, “What’d you do that for, sir?” The cop says, “Just makin' your wish come true, son.” The passenger asks, “Making what wish come true?” The cop says, “I know that two miles down the road you were gonna to say to your buddy, “I wish he woulda tried that crap with me!”
  23. iv never seen it freeze up solid
  24. I was in a bar the other night, I know, hard to believe. There were two very large ladies playing a game of darts next to me. I overheard their conversation and noticed an accent. I asked politely " Excuse me ladies is that accent English?' One replied sharply , "It's Wales" I said "OK Whales, is that accent English? Next thing I know I'm trying to explain to the EMT how I got all busted up.
