  1. haha far from tent city he have hard buildings with kick ass ac iv been out uhm quite a few times ill say technically cant go into details about what and where I am but yet iv been out its pretty modern here we go into Kuwait city alot there's Starbucks, TGIFridays, Cinnabon which was awesome I had some last time in the city lol. Iv also had some of the local well I guess its local food one of our interpreters makes us food all the time when working gates hes Indian and always makes this awesome bread with a dip or these like honey donut things omg there soooooooooo good lol. Kuwait isnt like your typical middle east country you think of yeah theres a few camels and goats running around but everyone's filthy rich and they love to party on boats and with fast cars iv never seen so many Porsche's, Ferrari, and Lamborghini in one area and as often as I do here half the boats I see are Scarabs or some other crazy speed boat. Most of them speak English and those that "don't" I think are playing because they laugh at jokes and understand when we get after them for taking our water but play stupid when we are searching them. Iv got lot alot of pics when im done and back home I will post them up and talk more in detail about what im doing here but its hardly a deployment and its anything but hard conditions other then the scorching heat and sand storms.
  2. lol thats a good one I never thought of that i hate when people ask if I caught anything when hunting its not trapping or fishing you don't catch when hunting
  3. New York sucks high everything besides employment and salary's. I do love the fishing here though but seeing Big-O's bass who wouldn't want to move to Texas lol. Iv only lived in Connecticut besides New York I loved it there but I was in school and doing the typical 19 year old on his own in college thing ramen, beer, cars, and women lol. Schools for the little ones is gonna be a big factor along with crime rates and such. We were looking at the Corpus Christi area but did some research and was actually surprised to see the crime was high and education low. I compared it to Buffalo and Rochester and it was actually better crime wise we had higher personal crimes and Corpus had more property crimes. Cost of living seemed cheap though I looked at apartments at craigslist and i could rent a really nice place for the cost of a dump here of the same size if not smaller(here). I forgot what city I read about maybe Huston but it was like the 2nd best city to move to in america because its booming and employments high. Im not a city guy though i like being out in the sticks like i am now 60minutes to the city but only 20-30min from smaller cities that still have everything but the big malls and airports. Im surrounded by farm land and rivers and 4miles north is lake Ontario for some one who loves the outdoors its perfect. But I know Texas is also like hunting and fishing mecca so I doubt id be disappointed as long as im not in the heart of some city.
  4. thanks for all the replies guys. I'v been making peace with my old man we email back and forth every day we'll I'm over here deployed. The wife wants to get the hell outa dodge more then I do. We have moved quite a few times staying in the same county and didn't have friends to help us out there not even family so other then the long drive to where ever it wont be no different. I think what I may end up doing is once offered a job move to where ever and get a cheap apt well saving up and looking for a place to bring the family to. Experience in oil I don't have any I suppose what I was thinking was going in as a field service tech or mechanic of some kind for a company. I went to school for wrenching been doing it sense I was a little kid and now when im not doing my army thing I'm a teachers aide for a agriculture and heavy equipment diesel class. I'm pretty good with mechanical anything. Im open to anything actually hell im even toying the idea of moving to texas or out west and staying in the National Guard but re classing to aviation mechanics and going to an aviation unit. If I do that I will try and get on a search and rescue team in the mountains idk im very undecided what I wanna do and the wife is even worse shes got nothing never held a real job or any job for very long and never went back to school shes smart but stubborn and wants a top job with out having to work for it so she just has been a stay at home mom for the last 5 years our oldest is 3 lol I don't mind though.
  5. see my kids are still young which is why I wanna do it sooner then later Noah just turned 3 and Jack will be 1 in a few weeks.
  6. man this thread is providing so much entertainment on my day off. Lets all agree to disagree, I will fish my reels 2 of which are shimanos(Citica, old Sedona(broken but still works)) even though im a Abu fan. So whose ready for iCAST next week anything any ones anxious to see this year like the new Revo line up or new ragetail baits.
  7. Who here has picked up everything and moved outa state? A while ago I had posted about moving to Texas in search of a job in the oil industry. I'm still toying with the idea but I wouldn't even know where to start. I mean besides the obvious of looking for and getting a job. I don't know if i should get the job first go work for a few months well looking for a place and move the family down later or bring them down and make the jump all at once. I Just wanna get out of New York and never look back I have a year left in my National guard contract when I get back state side I figured soon as that's up jut pick up and leave. I wouldn't be leaving much behind besides my in laws most my friends have already moved out of state but they are all single and its easier without a family. So besides my wifes family we wouldent be leaving much behind iv pretty much completely dis owned my mother and my father probably wont make it another year maybe 2 at best his doctors told him yesterday. My dad is actually the only thing that would hold me back so he can see his grand kids as much as possible he knows I know the whole family knows times ticking. So whose done it picked up there family and moved either out of state or across a state. I'v done it when i was single but it only lasted 2 years and I ended back in my home town small hick towns have a way of doing that some how they don't let you leave.
  8. cant go wrong with the Veritas I love mine and am buying 5 more
  9. thats half a months salary for me lol you my sir are my hero lol
  10. Thats what the Oak and Johnsons is known for is killer trout and salmon fishing not many people know about the amazing bass population it has also im usually out there in the spring battling trout fisherman so I can catch some early smallmouth
  11. I basically see all of basswhippa's post so far as anti Korean from reels to cars he doesn't like anything unless its Japanese. Almost all of his replies bring up how horrible Korean products are.
  12. its been getting worse and worse every day tonights dinner was a turkey loaf and carrots or stuffed peppers. or i coulda went to the fatty line and got chicken nuggets or a burger or grilled cheese but im trying to cut back on the fatty foods they just started a competition today for most weight lost im in the lead but people are catching up now that iv platoed in the 170's. I would kill for some pulled pork though mmmmmmmmmmmm
  13. ok now im hungry thanks alot lol
  14. My wife has asked for the same thing she wants to go fishing with me as much as possible. She knows her stuff to she calls her self the fishey wife lol. She has been going threw the stuff iv been buying on ebay picking the "cute" lures and adding them to her pile she told me she better have all the same/more/or better stuff I have. Im thinking bout going with a st. croix avid pearl for her as well idc if she wants matching set ups im not using pink gear and i like my abu's to much to share lol.
  15. I beg to differ my father has a 97 Neon he babies and has done tons of after market stuff to thing still runs like a champ. Granted its still a neon and it looks goofy it was his attempt to connect with me growing up and being into tunning cars he bought a neon I had every tunner car under the sun. ANYTHING be it cars/trucks or rods and reels if properly maintained will last d**n near for ever if u neglect them then yes everything will be a throw away be it a Ferrari or a stella or a cavalier or neon. If you negelct it it will be junk you put a tiny bit of effort into maintaining anything and it will last you plain and simple im hard on everything my reels my cars but I also maintain, clean, service them when its needed and never had an issue with anything. Maybe im just lucky and my stuff doesn't break down even my hated quantum reals go with me almost every trip and are still in working order I just don't like them.
  16. I was just reading about Silva shoulder checking Sonnen at the weigh in. I have no way of watching the fight or id be all over it our internets to crappy to stream it over here. Just gonna have to wait for a report on here.
  17. ah the entertainment value of this thread is STELLAer haha
  18. yup exactly sympathy weight lol I gained some but not alot then she got knocked up and I put on almost 60lbs lol the day after my son was born the nurse asked me when mine was due lol.
  19. I wouldn't say every but maybe 90% lol
  20. I have a gen 2 Revo SX and the previous model Citica what ever series it is I don't get into all that hoopla like the shimano posse. Both are great reels in my opinion my Revo I have set as loose as a reel can be and bomb hail marry casts with it no problem times i use the magnetic breaks like windy days i never have an issue and I sure as hell don't baby it on casts and ride my thumb on the spool. My Citica same thing no brakes set very loose spool tension and same thing don't baby the spool or nothing both have caught me some big fish including a double smallmouth on a double fluke rig and the Citica. Personally though im an Abu fan but I have the Citica cuz I got a killer deal on it but I don't see what makes them so much greater or worse then a Revo im more accurate and can pitch farther and more accurate with the Revo then I can with the Citica and I like the feel of the Revo more personally also.
  21. kinda like the Jeff Foxworthy heres your sign stuff. Iv had a few well here ill be walking to the gym gloves and drink in hand and get asked "going to the gym?" or ill be in the gym doing curls "arms day?" walking up the ramp to the chow hall "going to chow?" Signing out with the harbor master fishing poles in hand he asks it every time "going fishing today George?" the one time i answered him back " no just felt like walking the 3 miles with all this **** in 110* weather to sign your clipboard I might be famous some day you could sell my signature" he just laughed and agreed it was hot out. the fishing ones always the greatest or hunting it almost never fails your walking with fishing poles and some one always asks "going fishing?" or pull into the gas station for coffee on the way to the woods dressed in camo and a truck full of other guys in camo "You guys going hunting" feel like saying no were redneck ninja's with shot guns.
