  1. this could be the culprit as well but iv noticed in my cases of having to loose of tension it nests up almost instantly. I used to have my line dig all the time and it would nest mid cast when the loose wraped line on top was gone and it hit that spot the line got dug in
  2. haha thats great
  3. Line is to thin and its digging on the reel. When using braid and casting gear I like 50# + even with 50 you will get digging from time to time. Edit: I should of went more in depth but your probably digging the line on snags or hook sets it tightens on the bottom and goes up if that makes any sense. That's why mid cast your getting that back lash your spool is stopping then usually rotates the other way causing the back lash. When you clear the backlash pull out a bit of line by hand you will feel it like jump kinda where your clearing future dug in spots. Also ease up on the cast let the rod do the work you shouldn't need to do a 2 handed hail marry with casting gear that's already asking for a back lash you just want a fluid smooth cast start to finish. You can do 2 handed long casts but don't force the cast.
  4. maybe by giving it that play it slows down reaction time or something for better hook sets so you don't rip the hooks out of the fish so by having that give in the reel where you would normally have it in the rod or line idk
  5. its every county bordering lake Ontario, Lake Ontario Counties they run a few every year I know there's one in august my buddy always does prettty good in it. Its just for Salmon and Trout

  7. nice catches you guys in the LOC derby?
  8. Iv been eyeballing the stuff at fishingskirts.com because I want to start tying my own as well but there's so many choices idk where to start lol. they have kits for 30 bucks includes 100 tabs 10 different colors the collars and rattles. If you just want to buy the skirts there anywhere from .20-.35 a piece with a 10 minimum so 2.00-3.00 a color not to bad I don't think iv been sitting here working out the margins of making and tieing jigs....yup that bored
  9. polish that thing up with some mothers chrome polish lol
  10. yup same here we catch fish like that here in Kuwait same thing they got people teeth I always say ours are colored different though there brownish with one spot by there tail. We usually catch em on pieces of shrimp then transfer them to a bigger hook and catch needle fish and sharks on them.
  11. nice, trolling? they gotta be out deep with that heat wave you guys have been having. I don't get out on Ontario much I stick to the tribs and target bass ill chase the steelies in the spring though well waiting for my small mouth
  12. my wife has a nack for doing that probably the only person in the world who can foul hook a carp with a 1/2 football jig in there tail. Shes done it twice in one outing I have pics on the camera back home of her freaking out 9months prego with our first son rod dang near bent in half drag screaming with a 30lb carp on the other end trying to get into the current. She would kill me if i ever put them pics of her on here she was like week over due and out fishing she looked about ready to pop. Me I could roll a crank bait right over em and never foul hook one im not gonna lie I used to try to do it when I was younger just to catch one I could never do it to save my life.
  13. BAIT!! lol no clue but looks like bait for something bigger with teeth
  14. Makes perfect sense to me that's how I always looked at it to but I just started reading everything today and thinking every little detail out im so friggen bored its not even funny. If i can remember and retain everything iv read and watched these past few days iv had off be able to still remember at put it all to use when I get back home id be taking down KVD lol ok maybe not that but I feel like a iv read every article out there on every subject broke down and analyzed it to where and how I fish.
  15. probably fill it with some sort of epoxy dye it with some model paint to match the color you want use a razor like a putty knife apply it then wipe off the excess. I have never done it but that's who id do it iv done it to granite counter tops alot never cork though but I don't see it being any different really it would be so small I don't think you would feel the diffidence in texture and probably would forget its even there.
  16. very true I cant tell ya how many times iv been at home shooting at the range and had my military drills just happen with out thinking about it. we will be shooting and iv got some full size silhouette targets and i always find my self putting em all nicely center mass and when standing my ready up drills come back and turn square to my target up pop pop and back down every now and then it gets 3 the 2 in the chest one in the head at close quarters. doing that with the SKS is killer on your arms lol and your finger with that hard trigger that thing has. Pistols heck line it up cover your target with the slide pretty much don't even aim really squeeze em off and there all center mass might require some adjusting but 99% the time your on target and there not going any where if it was a person.
  17. I think alot of it is timing and what the follow up is the percentage is pretty high id say though I usually follow up with a weightless plastic or I keep the frog there if possible. its tough though if you yank the frog out where the strike was or you get exited and burn it in to recast or throw a follow up but try and just let the frog stay in place don't twitch it don't walk it just dead stick it count to 30 and give it a small twitch after 30seconds. iv found this to be more productive and successful then burning it in and trying to hit that spot again in the excitement. I will usually after that 30sec pause twitch it in place a few times giving it a few seconds then after that pause go back to my normal retrieve more often then not that first twitch is interrupted by a violent splash resulting in a caught fish. In really shallow water and aggressive bass you can see them make there loop and watch the water bulge get closer and closer to your frog and just before it gets there you give it that twitch and they cant stand it and they just crush it.
  18. thats crazy
  19. I hope they used a different scope each time lol
  20. in clear water I always had really good luck with chrome or something else really flashy. I used to have a Manns baby 1 minus in chrome like the chrome off an old Cadillac that thing seriously caught me fish every cast then a northern pike came and broke my heart. Also try clear cranks I had alot of luck last season with a rapala in the clear craw color idk what exactly the color is or model I don't get wrapped up in it to much its a rapala and its clear with like "ghost" craw pattern on it.
  21. Im a little slow more often then not with my hook sets and loose a good deal of fish from not setting it hard enough but that's with all my cheap rods that are all MM action bottom of the barrel stuff my veritas nothing escapes usually once I set the hook but I only use it for jigs and Trigs its 7'6"MHF. I fish mostly jigs and weightless plastics the most but want to expand my rod arsenal to start using other baits part of the reason I don't throw other things is because im 2 lazy to cut and re tie if it doesn't work and I feel some of my rods arnt up to par with what I need them to do.
  22. agreed but close range terminal ballistics might not be that good who knows what he had for ammo. Im glad everything came out the way it did though I mean about his daughter being safe granted he took a bullet as well but it could have been worse. Nerves probably got to him or he doesn't practice and train.
  23. that's the spirit lol like Ike says never give up get out there and fish
  24. yeah im with you I don't go to the hospital ever iv needed stitches many a times I just wrapped it in duct tape or electrical tape and kept on trucking I broke my ribs a few years back took me almost a week to admit I should go to the hospital and get it checked out I didn't know they were broken I just knew it hurt to laugh and raise my hands up or pretty much anything then I got some xrays and hey guess what lol. 7-10 days aint nothing im sure you will get used to the side effects and get out fishing sooner then that.
  25. Ok so iv been bored I had the day off and I have tomorrow off as well so my wheels have been turning in my head and just got done reading another thread bout spinning set ups for wacky rigging and many of you said MXF for throwing lite soft plastics and don't need a big hook set. Now maybe im wrong probably a good chance I am I over analyze everything and make it more confusing on my self but don't you want the fast action rods for heavy thick hooks and softer slower tips for thinner lighter gauge hooks. Most soft plastics are thrown on thinner light hooks so wouldn't the XF be working against you? or do I have it all back wards. Is it off set by the line XF tip thin hooks but lighter line balances it out? I know you want a Moderate action for cranks but isn't the theory kinda the same with the lighter hooks on plastics? Jigs you want a MH or H rod with a F rated tip to drive the thicker hooks home so wouldn't you want the same for say spinner's and buzzbaits they all have thick gauge hooks even the finesse ones but typically they are not thrown on a heavy or fast action rod correct? Iv read a few articles on the subject but no 2 are the same one recommends one thing the other a different the only thing that's ever consistent it seems is crank bait rods glass and a M/MH-Mod action. so some one wanna explain please
