  1. I was at Bass pro shop today.I seen something new.The price was $5.79 here at the NY store. http://www.ardentoutdoors.com/products/index.asp?catid=7
  2. I love Frogg Toggs for warm weather.I use them more for a wind breaker than a rain gear, but they keep me warm and dry when I don't need heavier cold weather gear. I have the Cabelas guide gear suit as well, but I seldom use it unless it is really cold and raining hard before I leave the house. The Frogg Toggs are super light, great for fishing, I have had my first set for 5 years now, just bought a second set at Bass pro shop, on sale for $29.99.They're hard to beat for that price.Ivan

Thank you again for the reply. The ewg is the same size, just lighter wire shanked. It is going to be interesting to fish them this coming summer.Ivan
  4. I also thread them on, less likely for the trailer to be able to spin on you and get in the way of the hook point. I do not use pork trailers anymore.I hated to take the time to wash the brine out before I used them. Washing the Pork trailer under hot tap water took the brine solution out and made the trailer softer, it looked more real when fished.I never reused the prok trailer, so its cheaper and easier to use plastic trailers. Ivan
  5. How could you ? Congratulations on the new reel. Shimano Posse, I give my condolences to the Posse. Be patient, He may very well bring others back with him. Ivan

supermat, Thank you for taking the time to respond.I thought they would work, wondered what would happen if you switched the heavy hooks out to a Gamakatsu EWG #4 treble ? I was thinking if a big smallmouth would hit the bait, the lighter wire treble would give you a better hook up ratio ? :-/ Ivan

I bought 2 Lucky Craft LVR D-15 baits on clearance sale at Bass pro shop for $6.99 each. There was only 2 left, 1 in Rootbeer craw and 1 in Mat tiger color. My question is has anyone used these baits ? Ivan
  10. Docav, Thanks for the info, I am thinking about using them now.I haul my rods in my car rather than leaving them in my boat. trebles are hard on the seats, extra clothing, ect.... ;D Ivan
  11. In my honest opinion, Abu Garcia hit a home run with the Revo S reel. It does everything extremely well when fished out on the water, where it counts. The only complaint I have heard about them was from a guy who said they were too small profile, it cramped his hand while fishing all day.Its a workhorse of a reel, although I have not had it a full season yet, I have put it through a pretty wide test.I didn't find anything to complain about, boated a 15+ lb carp when I fouled hooked it in the side with a rattle trap.I couldn't believe how easy I could reel him back to the boat, only to have him take drag back out once I got him there, he was too big for my net. I finally tired him down to grabbed him by the tail and pulled him in the boat to unhook my trap.Like I said I was in awe that I could crank him back to the boat with ease while he was trying to swim away from me. For $99.99 , they might be very difficult reel to beat.Ivan
  12. Catt, Thats an awesome reel at a great price.Congratulations. :)Ivan
  13. A Yamamoto 5" senko in #214 color, I think its smoke w/ blue & small gold flake.Fished weightless year round. Ivan
  14. I had one, thought it would be nice for the hard jerkbaits, but when I got to my fishing area, the treble hooks went right through the lure cover. :-/ I don't use it any more after the first time of removing the hooks from it so I could fish. :-[
  15. I don't trim the length of the brush guard, I thin the brush guard out if anything. The longer the brush guard length, the easier it is to come through thick weeds, once you shorten it, the point will easily hang up.The new jig designs are extremely good, no hook sharpening, or thinning of the weed guard required right out of the pack, tie them on , impale a trailer on the jig and fish. ;DIvan
  16. I used Ecogear about 3 years ago.I caught alot of fish with them, but then I couldn't find them anymore.Ivan
  17. Chuck, Something tells me you don't live far from Fort Meyers ? ;)Ivan
  18. I haven't used the floating, but I have the Red zone Bill Lewis traps. The Red zones suspend. I really like the lucky craft LV0 , not sure if I would buy a floating bait that fishes the same waters the LV0 does ? Ivan
  19. Raul, When will the madness stop ? There ought to be some sort of law against it ? Congratulations, May your old tackle relocate to my house where it would be appreciated. Ivan
  20. I did't worry about matching colors, I worried about the activity level and alter the trailer combinations to get the profile size more suitable for the day. After mixing colors, I think the color contrast does help with different light and water clarity conditions as well. :)Ivan
  21. Mini traps will catch a good limit of fish on certain days other lures don't produce well, don't be fooled by the size of the lure. You really need to have a whole different set up for trap sizes.I like a 6 1/2 ' medium rod with 8 to 10 lb test mono for the small traps where the 1/2 oz. & 3/4 oz. traps I use 15-20 lb test mono on a 7' MH rod.Fish traps in skinny water, same type of conditions you would a spinnerbait.the weight of the trap fishes the different water colum, fish the minis on shallow flats, or over weed beds with minimum surface water to weed clearance and the heavier traps when the trap isn't ticking weeds on the retreive.I never retreive the trap in a straight line retreive, i want it bouncing off weeds, bottom, moving the rod tip so the lure wanders left to right instead of a steady straight line retreive. I change the hooks to a Gamakatsu EWG treble hooks, unless they are a Japanese brand trap.I use a lucky craft split ring on all trap line ties as well. I hope this helps. Ivan

  23. Sam, I am sorry I should have mentioned that they were Japanese versions. What I am looking for is the HEG design , supposedly, the Japanese models were designed that way before the American models were, but I am only going by what I am told.I am looking for a new reel for jig fishing, I want to replace my old Daiwa TD1 reels with. I was told the HEG system is what I should look for, but they didn't tell me which reels have them ? Thank you Ivan Scorpion MG1000 http://cgi.ebay.com/Shimano-Bait-casting-reel-Scorpion-MG-1000-50MG-ARB_W0QQitemZ140060527763QQihZ004QQcategoryZ36146QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem Metanium XT http://cgi.ebay.com/Shimano-Metanium-XT-Japan-Chronarch-SF-Reel-02_W0QQitemZ170059461897QQihZ007QQcategoryZ36146QQcmdZViewItem
  24. I like owners better than any other brand I have tried. I also like the Gamakatsu EWG superline hooks as well. Ivan
  25. I am looking towards a Shimano Scorpion MG1000, or a Shimano scorpion Metanium XT reel. I gather the scorpion is like a Chronarch MG50 and the Metanium is like a Chronarch Super free, but I am lost other than that. Which one would you chose and why ? In advance thank you for the responses. Ivan
