  1. There is a big difference between winning a National Championship in the NCAA and being good in the NFL. He may have lead the Broncos to the playoffs, but he did so with a near 50% accuracy and one of the lower QB ratings in the league. There is no doubt that the guy is a true athlete and someone with tremendous character, but that does not make him a good QB. I think he is awesome too. He has great character, and great athleticism/talent. The problem is that he is not a talented QB. All the great character and athleticism in the world will not make him a great QB if his accuracy doesn't improve (he's had enough time for this) and if he cannot read a defense.
  2. He is a solid athlete, heck he is a phenomenal athlete. The problem is that he is a very poor NFL QB. He can't read a defense and has a pretty terrible throw. He may develop into a decent backup, but I would be highly surprised if he ever made the starting role at QB again. The Pats took a gamble, and if they can utilize his athleticism in an area other than QB then they may do well on this deal. If they continue down the road that other teams have done, placing him at QB, they will end up with an expensive bench warmer.
  3. Pantyhose. . . . put the chicken liver in a small square cut from pantyhose, tie or sew it shut, and then hook it on. Never lose my livers anymore!
  4. Left the house without the boat keys. . . add that to my list of stupid things I've done. . . . .
  5. Motoring with an anchor in the water is a really stupid thing to do. I've been there. We were cat fishing below Bagnell Dam in MO, they opened the flood gates and we were anchored in the path of the swiftly rising water. Got the front anchor up, but the rear anchor was stuck. We decided to try and pull it out by gently motoring forward. Instead of the anchor pulling up, the back of the boat pulled down. . . . into the water. . . . we almost sank the boat that day. I've never pulled a knife so fast to cut a rope in my life. . . .
  6. I did this last year cat fishing. Set the rod down and didn't notice it slid under the cleat. About 30 min later I get a bite and go to set the hook. All I hear is this thunderous crack as my pole snaps at the handle.
  7. Their success came directly from this coach. Their athletic ability was home grown, but the strive to be the best they could be in their sport came from the dedication of a good coach. They were taught to be the best they could be at an early age, and they succeeded later in their sport because of this. The "everyone is a winner" mentality only makes kids lazy, and in turn keeps them from striving to be better because they have always "succeeded" while being mediocre. Nothing good comes from rewarding mediocrity. Are you dead set on showing what an a** you are Mr. Internet Psychologist? What I see him exhibiting is pride over his accomplishments. Accomplishments he achieved through hard work his entire life. Accomplishments that weren't handed to him in some "everyone is a winner" society. You appear to be one of the "everyone is a winner, you can do no wrong" kids raised in this "I wanna be friends with my kids" society. Grow the hell up and smell the roses. Parenting today is ridiculous for the most part, and children and society suffer because of this. You sound jealous of his accomplishments, making you a shining example of this. . .
  8. Fighting an un-medicated sinus infection this weekend, with a headache that made my head feel like it was going to split, I stupidly lost my cool over a "professional overrun" and decided that it would be a good idea to "tap" my fishing pole against the side of the boat. Well I'll be damned if the thing didn't snap. . . . I feel like such an idiot now. . . . at least it was just a lightning rod and not something more expensive. No more raging headache fishing for me. . . . Anyone care to share some of their their frustrated stupid moments?
  9. Living in Missouri, I like to support the local companies, so I use chompers baits quite a bit. I like the t-rig the twin tail grubs. Also use them as a swim jig trailer from time to time.
  10. No doubt that people can change. I was just as much of a hell raiser as the next guy when I was younger, and I still am from time to time. My point is that when you don't teach your kids value and worth then they grow up expecting everything to be given to them. All kids act like this, but the poorly raised ones never get over it and expect everything to be handed to them no matter how poorly they perform.
  11. I don't work in a trade so I can't comment on that directly, but as for new hires, most of these kids were given everything they ever wanted and then some. They have no work ethic because they never had to work a day in their lives for what they wanted. In high school I had a car, that I bought and paid for mowing lawns. The car was a piece of crap but it was actually mine, something that I sweat gallons for. First cell phone, I walked into that store and paid my hard earned cash for it and the plan. I paid insurance on my car and paid for repairs when they were needed. Flash forward to today, my 9 year old daughter wants a tablet and cell phone and a bunch of other crap that her 9 year old friends have. I told her she can have them when she is working for them, whether that be a true job or doing the dishes in the sink. I REFUSE to give my daughter the handouts that here peers are getting because it will only make her weak. People appreciate what they have more if they actually work for it. Some new hire acting like they own the place and should be given everything, they don't appreciate their job, they feel it was owed to them. Our society is headed down a dangerous path, and I'm afraid that the "give me's" far out number us hard working folks. . .
  12. YEAH I'M FREEEEEE. . . FREE BALLIN'. . . . . Couldn't help myself. . . This guy owns 3 pair of undies. . . for the 3 days a week I work. During Missouri summers things get steamy pretty quick down under, freeballin all the way during the summer.
  13. I've worked in healthcare for the last 10 years as a nurse aid and recently enrolled in nursing school. So I don't actually have a career right now, but hopefully I will have a career as a registered nurse in a few short years. I love working with people, and this is a great field for me. I'm good at my job too. You've just gotta find something that interests you, and that can be hard sometimes. All through high school I had ambitions of becoming an engineer, taking many calculus and physics courses to gear up for college. Through sheer luck I landed in the healthcare profession after high school and have loved my work ever sense. It may take time, but you will find your true calling in life. Just don't make a hasty decision and land in a profession that you hate, making you miserable. . .
  14. What's wrong with kids these days? Over the last decade or so kids have been taught that they are all winners, everyone gets a medal no matter how bad they are at whatever they are doing. They have also been taught that there are no consequences to their actions by parents who are too busy or lazy to teach their children right from wrong. Spanking a child is now "child abuse" so kids go unpunished for their bad behavior. Kids today are all about "give me" and have no empathy for other living things. SELFISHNESS, that's whats wrong with kids today. At the ripe old age of 28 I can see the difference in the way I was raised and the way children today are raised. Maybe it's because I was raised in a military family, I honestly cant say, but children today seem spoiled rotten and show no remorse for their actions. /rant. While beating these punks into the pavement would have been well deserved, you did the right thing by reporting them. Hopefully they try this stunt again and get caught. I've been on the wrong end of a conservation ticket (fishing too close to a dam) and the prices are significantly higher than mere traffic tickets.
  15. I've been throwing straight braid at 40 lbs mostly because I'm cheep. I would rather straighten a hook than lose a $7-$10 lure due to a snag. With that said, I've been experimenting with using a 15lb floro leader at about 5' long and have had decent results. Remember that the diameter of your line will effect how deep your bait dives, so your 22' deep diver may not get down to 22' if your throwing it on a thick rope of braid.
  16. The shallowest I own at the moment would have to be the Xcalibur xcs 100's. I love them, and have been finding a ton of them at the Walmart bargain bin over the last few weeks for under $3, I own ALOT of these. . .
  17. You beat me too it. Seems this is a thought out and planned myth. They faked it. Still a cool video though!
  18. I did not name it, but my step dad named the boat "serenity" and then later handed it down to me. Seems silly to change her name now and it's a fitting name anyway.
  19. I chose the 5 big ones mostly because the lakes I fish in are high in numbers but small in size. In reality, I fish for enjoyment, so If I'm catching em I'm happy.
  20. I let my daughter shoot my S&W 915 9mm a few months back. I've also been teaching her how to shoot with my .22. I caught heat from a few relatives, but I basically did what you are doing. I will raise my daughter to shoot if I want to. And I will teach her properly. If you supervise your child and teach them right from wrong then they will be fine. This stigma that has been cast over guns is ridiculous.
  21. I throw mine like this and I just "grip it n rip it" with no problems.
  22. Buckethead comes off as a joke to me. The man can play the guitar, but the act he plays is to distracting for me. Bonamassa is truly a master at his craft. That man is a phenomenal guitarist! If you want relaxing music, look up Andy Mckee. . . any time I'm in a funk, I play his music and am put at ease
  23. I have a buddy that catches what we call a redear sunfish EVERY time we go out. Some of them are darn nice sized too. I catch them occasionally. Never caught anything else though. . .
  24. Zac Brown Band Eric Church Luke Bryan Jason Aldean Brad Paisley - I like him more for his guitar playing than the songs he sings.
  25. Out of my fishing buddies, I'm the only one with a boat. That being said, I have no problem letting them take control up front. For me, its about the fishing. If he wants to run the TM all day long, I just adapt and find a technique that I can catch them on while he covers water like a mad man with the TM. I like having control of my boat, but I also like to let someone else learn how to do it. Time on the water is time on the water for me, regardless of whether I'm in control or not.
