  1. Have you forgotten about the Jacksonville Jaguars? Even local Florida stations are apologizing about having to air their games. . . I think the Jags might have a lock on 0-16 this year. I have to say I am pleasantly surprised with my Chiefs, matching their 2 wins from last year in their first 2 games this year, though still not a SB contender. As much as it pains me to say it, the Broncos have the best looking team so far this season.

That's not a quirk, it's perfectly normal, isn't it? My tool box is more organized than an OR surgical tray. My house looks like complete chaos but my garage is immaculate. I guess I have selective OCD.
  3. I agree with the rule, not with the call. Safety for the players is never a bad thing, and you still get to see plenty of vicious hits in college football. Also, if they can overturn the ejection, which basically says the call was bad, why still assess the 15 yard penalty? Still, the game turned out to be one hell of a game!
  4. I tend to tell my child to stop being a baby and go play, and its amazing how quickly she gets over it. If it were a continuous problem (bullying) then maybe I would give her your advice. Pinching and things like that are just things that kids do, and they can get over it just as quickly as it happened.
  5. That sucks man. I own a few Kershaw knives and I love them. I would ticked if someone did this to my knife. This is why I always sharpen my own. Of course, I dont buy serrated blades for the most part so this wouldn't be a problem for me.
  6. Watched a video a few months back of a kayak fisherman reeling in what seemed like a large tuna. . . . . . . until a shark came up and took the fish. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=puNhvXutVjQ Walk on water. . . hell I would have been sprinting across it if that were me. . . .
  7. The players are money makers for the school, and were talking big money here. Your average student isn't and that's why the stars get a free pass and us joe blows get screwed. I don't like it but that's the way it is right now. There is no real way to fix it either. You could boot the trouble player, but then another "shadier" college will just pick them up and you'll be playing against them. Punishment could work, since most of the problems seen in college athletes seems to be the attitude that they can get away with anything. A loss of a star could mean a loss of revenue for the school though, so I doubt that would fly either. My position on the latest Johnny Manziel autograph thing this: why can college football make millions upon millions off these kids but the kids cannot profit themselves?
  8. Camp Bagnell at LOZ in Missouri, best frog legs and fried catfish I've ever eaten! Place burnt down a coupla years ago but it's back and just as good as ever! Madison's Cafe in Jefferson City Missouri. Some of the best Italian food in the area. If you want pasta, this is the place to eat. Their Rigatoni Carbonara is amazing! Mel's Country Cafe has one of the best country fried steaks I've eaten. Also located in JC, MO. I'm a big fan of the mom and pop places and usually find the best eats at these places.
  9. While the duck dynasty beard is an awesome thought, it's not all that it's cracked up to be (I have one and it itches like hell). Your service to this great country is awesome and I thank you for it. The GI bill is great if you ever want to go to school. If a woman has a problem with you serving then she ain't worth being with. If I didn't have major back surgery at 20 I would still be enlisted. I still regret not fighting to remain enlisted after my surgery. Honestly, the the benefits out weigh the cons. Continue to blow **** up and play with automatic weapons.
  10. Boat. . . . Bust Out Another Thousand. . . I learned this real quick after my first boat purchase. Sucks that this happened, but you kept a cool head and all will be well. We ran into a shallow spot a few years ago and sheared the skeg off but didn't damage the gear housing so we were lucky. I can't say I would be as calm as you were if I destroyed my lower. . . .
  11. I'm all about the deep frying. I like to cut my fish (bass, crappie, sunfish, cat) into bight sized pieces and smother them in a mix of chili powder, flower, corn meal, and season salt. Dip them in a pan of egg or buttermilk and then another round in the seasoning. Fry until you feel they are finished. Serve with a side of your preferred pasta salad and a cold beverage. . . . life is good.
  12. The problem is that people are eating it up right now, and until the "next best thing" comes out facebook will still be kicking. Social media has become huge for business owners and, I hate to say it, but I don't see changing until facebook has a legit competitor. I like that BR has a facebook page with giveaways, though I never win I still like entering and I like seeing the articles they post since I may miss them on the main site.
  13. The way I see it is that a bad day on the water is better than a good day at work. Same for deer season, I would rather be in the woods seeing nothing than at a desk. It may hurt my confidence a little bit, but I don't get on the water every day like some so I appreciate the chance none the less.
  14. I tend to throw jigs in deeper water when it gets hot, but I'm a jig man.
  15. Anything by Metallica Anything by Disturbed Most Def Leppard and Journey songs Heck. . . most rock songs deserve to be turned up. . . . Almost forgot. . . Autograph - Turn up the Radio!
  16. Congrats! The best day of my life was when my daughter was born.
  17. If the liver repairs itself then why is it so many people die from liver failure every year from drug and alcohol abuse? If you take greater than 4 grams of Tylenol daily for an extended period of time it will do irreversible damage to your liver and eventually lead to liver failure. In the case of a one time small overdose of Tylenol, say 6 grams in one day, the liver will be damaged and it can and will repair itself. In the case of continued overdose over a period of months to years the livers attempts to repair itself on top of the daily damage results in scaring to the liver. Too much scaring of the liver results in irreversible damage and will lead to liver failure. I had to do a case study on this exact topic in nursing school last semester, I do know a thing or too about this topic. Tramadol is a lower class than lortab but it is still an opioid, so it could be a slight setback for you.
  18. Steroid injections and epidural injections are the same thing when referring to back pain/injury. I suffered from severe back pain and muscle spasms after rupturing my L5/S1 disc 10 years ago. I had numbness down to my foot in my left leg and could hardly walk. I went through all of the injections and wound up having surgery. The surgery was a massive failure and within 6 months I was in worse pain than where I started. Over the past 10 years I have gone through intensive physical therapy, and with a combination of this therapy, my home therapy exercises, and a healthy dose of steroidal anti inflammatory drugs I can function as a human being again. I still have pain, but over time it has come down to a manageable level. If your doctor hasn't already you need to have him put you on a high dose anti inflammatory or steroid. The inflammation of the nerves in your back is what is causing the pain and spasms and the opiates are only re-leaving the pain and are not actually doing anything to fix the underlying problem. I also agree with several people on here, get a second opinion. You may also want to start looking into alternative therapies and trials that are out there for severe back pain. Now, on the case of pain meds, anything with Tylenol is bad to abuse. For Tylenol, 4000mg a day is the max dose, and the effects of OD'ing on Tylenol are severe. Tylenol will destroy your liver, and no matter what anyone says, your liver WILL NOT repair itself once you damage it by taking too much Tylenol long term. The metabolism of Tylenol produces a toxin that, when taken at the proper doses, is flushed from the body by the liver and kidneys. When taking more than 4000mg/day of Tylenol, the level of the toxin floods the liver and KILLS the liver cells and has been shown to damage the kidneys as well. This damage is irreversible and will lead to liver failure and death. I don't want to sound harsh, but this is the cold hard truth about abusing drugs containing Tylenol.
  19. Pretty sure I would have a stroke if I busted off a $90-100 lure. . . . snagging $7 Xcalibur square bills is about as bad as it gets here.
  20. I use "cross their eyes" every once in a while. I also take a page from Tin Cup and use "let the big dog eat."
  21. About a month ago I was swimming a Havoc Pit Boss on a Jika rig through some brush when I felt a bump on the lure. It just felt like I hit some brush so I kept on swimming it in. As the lure comes into view below the surface I see this dark swirling thing below my bait kinda playing with it. At first I thought it was a catfish, but when I pulled the lure out of the water the creature surfaced. . . . . it was an otter. He was a cute thing, but I'm glad I didn't sink a hook into it. . . pretty sure I would have just cut the line on that one. . .
  22. I have a mixture of red and non painted ewg hooks. Never noticed a difference between the number of fish I catch on the red hooks vs the non red hooks. It very well may be a gimmick to catch the fisherman, but the ones I buy cost the same as the standard hooks so I see no problem buying them.
  23. I've done the matrix move before, the problem was that I was twisting my upper body out of the way as the 1/2 oz. jig flew straight towards my manhood. . . . . . it was not a good afternoon. . . . Throwing pliers overboard instead of the fish after unhooking said fish. . . . We've all been there and will all end up doing something stupid again. It doesn't matter how experienced you are, we all have dumb moments.
  24. A tetanus shot is much more pleasant than the effects of full blown tetanus. Get the shot and keep yourself up to date on it. As far as infection from the puncture, I would keep an eye on the puncture site to see if it remains irritated over a period of about a day. If it gets red, swollen, hot to the touch, or you notice any discharge from the puncture site it would be best to see a doctor about it as these are all signs of infection. I've been stuck quite a few times in the fingers and hands and have never had any troubles. I would imagine that the story that you read was a very rare occurrence for fishermen.
  25. My first baitcaster was some cheap Diawa from Bass Pro that cost me $30. I hated the thing and could not cast it once without a huge backlash. 6 years later (this year), I bought a BPS Pro Qualifier and have had few problems with learning to cast it, so few that I bought a second one just a few weeks after buying the first. I'm going with the consensus here, buy a quality reel to learn on.
