Electro-shocking?
Your parks department electro-shocks lakes to see what the fish population is like. Like whether the stocking programs, size limits, etc. are working. It's only to help us as the angler. All fish are released unharmed and they are only stunned for a couple minutes I believe ........ if that. Now as far as other people doing that for their own gain, THAT is HIGHLY ILLEGAL

Bass Fishing: An Olympic Sport?
Yeah, I knew I was going to. But surely there has to be somebody here that feels the same as me. :-?

Bass Fishing: An Olympic Sport?

school project- input needed
Clean and lube all my reels Change Line Clean cork handles on my rods Try to come up with a better way to store my tackle : Search high and low for topo maps of my lakes that I fish on the internet unsucessfully > Here's another suggestion (I personally did this for a demonstartive speech). Show how to tie different fishing knots and the advantages or uses of each. For visual purposes I used a about a 3" ring that I attached foil to, to make it look like a hook. Then I used some fairly thick rope as fishing line. I think it would be kind of hard to demonstrate your original topic in my opinion.

Bass Fishing: An Olympic Sport?
You're crazy!!! If they can pass curling off as a sport, why not bass fishing? I've been trying to figure out this curling thing and the best I can tell it's simply shuffleboard on ice. ;D ;D ;D Yep, you're right. Like I said, these so called "sports" liike curling are an ebarrassment to the Olympics.

Bass Fishing: An Olympic Sport?
I might catch some cr*p here but ................... Bass Fishing is NOT A SPORT ...... it's a hobbie. It takes darn near no athletic ability to catch a bass. Golf, by far closer to sport than fishing and I still call that a game (almost a sport). I think all of these so called sports are an embarrassment to the Olympics IMO.

Suggestions for a Used Bass Boat
10 year old boat ............ probably go with a Ranger. May I suggest you take a look at maybe a 5 or so year old Stratos. You get the most bang for your buck IMO. Hopefully I will be buying my first bass boat in the next couple years and I think that's what I am going to get

how fast are bass
I have heard numbers similar to Nick_Barr's. I think I have heard something like up to 30 mph when striking a lure. Now that's not a sustained speed, just a burst. I think I either heard it on Angling Edge or In-Fisherman. Who knows. :-/

how fast are bass
I don't think to you can reel faster than a bass can move no matter how hard you try. Now whether they actually want it that way is a different story. Sometimes they want it slow sometimes fast. Just experiment with your retrieve speed until you find out how they want it.

Two bass, one lure, one cast
Never seen that. What's an Alabama rig? I've rigged two poppers to one another. A small shad patterned one in front with a larger bass patterned chasing it. It's caught me a couple bass on the same cast a couple times. Never 3..... ;D

A pair of swimbaits.......
I had a few white grubs that I mixed in with a bag of Chartreuse grubs and left them in my trunk one summer. When I finally cleaned my trunk out that winter I discovered a whole new color. It was kind of like the color of ......... welll.............. pee. I thought it looked good, but the bass didn't seem to like it much.

when is your weakest time to fish
I've experienced the same thing in the past. It seems to be really hit or miss. Fortunately last fall it was more hit than miss. 8-)

when is your weakest time to fish
I FEAR NOTHING ...... just kidding. I, in a way, kind of like when the conditions get tough. It separates the men from the boys. I guess the thing I struggle with most is early spring (right when you start to see a lot of bedding bass) and a huge cold front comes through. I mean average highs in or near 70 for a a week or two, then out of no where a cold front comes through and drops the day time temps into the 40's. It's bound to happen every year and I have really struggled during them.

Adapting to New Water!
Try to find the "lake" with in the lake. What I mean is when you look at a new lake as a whole (especially big ones) it's pretty intimidating. Try to find a lake that you are familiar with in the new lake. Then go from there.

Fishing Friends from Scotland visiting U.S.
That's something on my "Things I Want to Do Before I Die" list. I also want it to be in ALL the elements. The harder the wind the better . A little misty rain mixed in would be great too.

I'm working on it. I mean the monkey is working on me. ;D

Drained Lake Pics
oops, my mistake. There you go. If you look at that pic of the lake. All these pics were taken in the far west arm. I would have gone up the other arm today, but it was way too cold and windy and I wasn't dressed for it.

Drained Lake Pics
I think the lake is around 200 acres or so. When they were draining this lake, the wildlife department lifted all regulations on the lake and you could take a limitless amount by anymeans you wanted. Including with your bare hand. I wish I would have gone out there when that was happening. That had to be a site to see....lol. I also would have liked to seen what the biggest bass was.

Drained Lake Pics
I don't have a handheld GPS ................ yet. I have been looking at them the past few months. This is just extra encouragement to go ahead and get one.

Drained Lake Pics
It's Douglas County Lake. And nope, all the brush piles and rocks had been picked over pretty good. I didn't see anything.

Drained Lake Pics
Remeber I am in Kansas and 90% of the population think there are only two kinds of fish. Catfish and Crappie. ;D Everything else is junk. And yes it looks like there has been a lot of "Crappie" fisherman out there putting down some Chirstmas trees. Those will hold some bass as well. Hopefully before they fill it back up I can get a GPS and go out there and mark some spots by actually walking down in the lake and marking them. It was too d**n cold and windy or I would have went up the other arm today. ;D

Drained Lake Pics
And the last one: A poor soul who lost their boat. It's really hard to see. It's the only thing over there on that bare shore. It looked to be a old fiberglass runabout boat.

Drained Lake Pics
Here's something that really caught my eye. A nice piece of wood. Above is a huge flat that will hopefully have some vegetation on it when they fill it back up. And below the old creek channel. PRIME TIME!!!!

Drained Lake Pics
Here's a rock hump that's a little off the shore. You're actaully able to see the top of this one when the lake is full.
