  1. 6# is the lightest I will go.
  2. Vary your retrieve when bringing the bait in, and shake your rod tip. If the bait floats you can give the reel handle a couple of cranks then stop winding in. Let the bait float almost to the surface and then crank some more.
  3. I have caught more on a Cordell than on a Rat-L-Trap. The trap is easier to throw, but the Super Spot gets hit better.
  4. A weightless Zoom finesse worm dragged slowly across the top of the weeds.
  5. How steep is the bank? You might want to try dragging the bass up on the shore a little. The bass will flop around some, but they have a little harder time getting back in the water.
  6. Nice bass, and thanks for the pics!
  7. The past three weekends it has been fairly warm here. This weekend the lows will be below freezing, and the highs only in the mid to high 40's for Friday and Saturday. Sunday afternoon it might get up into the 60's, but I'll believe it when I see it.
  8. I've caught a drum and muskie on a rat-l-trap. Shad and catfish on a spinnerbait. Rocks, mussels, sticks, and trash dragging a jig across the bottom.
  9. I belong to this site, and a couple others. That is it.
  10. I usually fill up the spool about 50/50. You never know when you might need some extra line.
  11. I carry a couple colors of each plastic and hard bait that I think the conditions will call for, but I don't take the entire bait bag. I only load up three or four baits depending on the type.
  12. I use 3/8 and 1/2 most of the time.
  13. They are both chunky, good going!
  14. How heavily fished are these ponds? Are you the only one that fishes them, or are the ponds open to the public? I fish a couple of very heavily pressured lakes. I have noticed over the years that it is much easier to catch bass during the week than on the weekends when the place is packed.
  15. Instead of moving around like a bass, a cat will stay in pretty much the same spot and just pull after it is hooked.
  16. Gorilla tape and then sew over it with braided line.
  17. Have you contacted the state.conservation dept.? Something like this may interest them.
  18. I wear a wide brim straw hat and a lot of sunscreen. The buff goes under the straw hat. I tried the buff on my face, but it caused my glasses to fog up so bad that I couldn't see.
  19. Prespawn around here usually means a sinus infection, or a weather pattern where is warm during the week, and cold and rainy on the weekends.
  20. I went out yesterday morning and managed one small largemouth. Just like the weatherman said, a front came through about 9:00 AM. My head and throat started hurting, and all I wanted to do was lie down and sleep. Stayed out on the water for about 30 more minutes then decided I better get in. When I got home I crashed for about 3 hours. Hoping next trip goes better.
  21. Man that must have been sweet, Congrats!
