Except for line, hooks and weights I think that I am pretty well set.

Usually a mug of coffee if I'm going out early. A sandwich and an apple for lunch with a large bottle of water to wash it down with.

I use 4 pound yo-zuri on an old mitchell 308. The rod is a 6 foot quantum that I picked up at walmart.

It just hit $1.99 yesterday around the St. Louis area. Its been dropping here about a nickel a day. The paper said it hasn't been this low since 2004.

Five years ago I would have said crankbaits. I voted for Plastics, since that is what I use the most now.

Suspending jerkbaits, chatterbaits, and swimbaits. If I had more confidence in them, I'd use them more often.

I use the same jigs and plastics all year round, but I slow the presentation way down in the winter.

I had the day off so I went pondhopping to check out a new spot and try my luck at some old ones. First pond I tried before sun up with a 41 degree air temp produced nothing for three hours using jigs, plastics, and cranks. On to pond number 2. Downsized my offering to a 1/8 ounce white spinner. I caught three dinks between 6" and 8" long. OK, I'm not getting skunked, on to pond 3. Still using the little white spinner, I caught 2 LM about a pound each and found a crankbait hanging in the tree. After about an hour I drove out to a new place that I heard about. Caught 2 LM about 1-1/2 pounds each still using the white spinner. After about half an hour with no bites I headed back home for lunch.

Keep a record of all your fishing trips even the ones you get skunked on.

I'd just take some measurements and a bunch of pics from every angle I could think of and then turn the fish loose. Then if I didn't have the $$$ to have a replica made, I could get one made later on.

I trim the weed guard to just above the hook point. The only time that I will trim the skirt is if its really really long. I will trim it back to around 1/4 inch past the bend in the hook.
