  1. I've used snap/swivels attaching spinnerbait blades... it makes changing blades on the go a little easier. oe
  2. I've caught almost as many incidental walleye as smallmouth fishing a tube in this fashion... oe
  3. Sounds as if you should've been fishing a tube jig instead of the drop-shot... oe
  4. Just to tidy up your response... most common line "compositions" are nylon, fluorocarbon or poly-ethylene. Most common line "constructions" are mono-filament or braid. Most mono-filament lines are nylon or fluorocarbon, most of today's braided lines are poly-ethylene. oe
  5. What! No pictures... oe
  6. If you had tied a 6' leader of your wife's line to your set-up you'd already have your answer... Experimentation is often a better teacher than someone else's opinion. oe
  7. While fishing with Tom in a wooden boat, Pee Wee skewered his egg sack a little off center and since has been considerably wacky. Got it! oe
  8. The Owner Twistlock light mentioned above is the same hook I use fishing soft jerkbaits (3/0). When additional weight is needed I prefer a nail weight inserted into the bait. oe
  9. Is your name Murphy? I suppose anything is possible, but I've never had any 10lb PE line ever get caught in a line roller... or 4lb for that matter. oe
  10. My question is about the blueish tint of of the plastic screen face and isn't changed by the colors that the unit displays in. Thanks. oe
  11. I prefer a paddle tail that undulates when I'm hoping/moving the worm as I don't let the bait sit long enough for the plastic worm to rise/fall on its own. oe
  12. The Hook 7 I recently purchased has a blueish tint to the screen. I first thought is was a protective film, but I'm unable to find an edge or corner to peel any film from. I'm having no trouble viewing the lighted screen, but there seems to be a couple of marks that look as if a film didn't get laid on perfectly... Is this blueish color the screen face color or do I need to look harder for an edge to peel? Thanks oe
  13. Green pumpkin... oe
  14. The time re-tuning a spinnerbait is the decompression time I need after catching a good bass! oe
  15. Not stereotypical at all... you spelled every word in your post correctly. oe
  16. Bait control can be a b*tch in wind... anchoring your boat helps; so does keeping your rod tip low, both casting and retrieving. All bait suggestions above are good! oe
  17. I'm learning the features of a new GPS mapping/sonar. The new unit is replacing a grey scale unit if that tells you how far behind the technology curve I am. I've resorted to watching You-tube videos about my unit/ similar units and watching/ re-watching what buttons the guys are pushing to do what I'm trying to accomplish. Even these videos aren't explaining what they are doing, they just do it to show you the end result. I bought a new trolling motor earlier this year and have been suffering through that learning curve as well. Too much new technology at one time! On a more positive note... the smallies are still slamming my "old school" grubs and spinnerbaits! oe
  18. I know, I know I'm cranky and old, but when I buy a new to me piece of technology I need a user manual with clear instructions of how to use the d@mn thing. 1/4 of the features are assumed I already know, 1/4 of the features aren't as shown in the manual and often no hard copy of a manual is even sent with the product at all! And my wife can't understand why I won't give up my flip phone. Geeesh! oe
  19. With online articles, youtube and chat forums most fishing information is available more conveniently, at no charge and more eco-friendly. I no longer subscribe to any printed fishing media. In another generation online will be the only information resource and we'll be in a world of hurt when cyber-terrorists interrupt/shut down all of our servers!!! oe
  20. Sharpening the hook points would be a lot more productive than re-painting the chipped heads... oe
  21. OkobojiEagle replied to dsqui's topic in Fishing Tackle
I choose to fish in the morning and again in the evening... I work indoors during the heat of the day. This seems to be a more comfortable arrangement for both the bass and myself. oe
  22. Unspool a long cast + an additional ~20 yards of line, put water proof tape (J & J cloth medical tape works well) on the spool one complete circumference of the spool. oe
  23. I prefer to wacky rig them on a drop-shot rig. oe
  24. Whichever company is paying the money to sponsor you... oe
