Opinions Curado I
Loosen the spool tension knob when you open the side plate to set the brake blocks then tighten the tension knob again after you've closed the side plate... I'm disappointed there is no 5.x ratio left retrieve model. oe

For Those Who Use Backing...
I think you are over-stating the importance of your position. A full spool is only one factor in optimizing a cast and bait retrieve. Please include consideration of spool capacity and diameter, reel retrieve speed, line diameter, bait weight and areodynamics, wind direction and velocity, rod length and action, as well as, angler skill. oe

For Those Who Use Backing...
I'd like to witness an 80 yd cast with traditional bass baits & tackle... oe

Back Reeling
A good 4lb+ fish (or any species) being played with light wire barbless hooks and yes I'm back-reeling. oe

How Will Water Temperature Affect The Suspend-Ability Of A Jerkbait
To those of you that have found a rise or sink to be productive, do you have a large population of shad in your waters? oe

How 'bout the spotted shad color... (I always like ghost minnow or ghost sunfish in clear water) oe

How Will Water Temperature Affect The Suspend-Ability Of A Jerkbait
Water is most dense at 39.2 degrees F. The density of water changes very little between 39 - 50 degrees F. becoming less dense with increasing temps above 50 degrees F. Baits that suspend at 40 - 50 degrees will sink at warmer temps. oe

Feathering Line When Using Baitcasters
A bird's nest happens when the spool spins faster than the bait/line is traveling. With that said, recognize the difference between thumbing the spool and feathering the line leaving the spool. Thumbing the spool will slow the spool speed to match the line speed and reduce a bird's nest. Feathering the line will slow the line without slowing the spool and will often increase the chances of a bird's nest. oe

Revo Premier
I've been intrigued by the Revo Premier but never jumped on a purchase, now I'm seeing them on several "for sale" boards. From those that have fished them, which version of the Premier do you consider the best (why, if you have a reason). What are the differences in braking systems between versions? Thanks for the primer... oe

Looking To Purchase A Round Reel. Who's Using Em? Which One?
Round reels in this world are an acquired taste. Start with an Abu 4600 series, add bearings to both sides of the line guide, bearing supported "idler" gear and upgraded spool bearings and you've got a sweet workhorse that is simple to maintain at home and will most likely out live you. Different ratio gear sets are easily interchanged. If you gravitate toward champagne... play with some of the Morrum reels. oe

Does It Really Matter To You?
Actually I like my tools to be so butt ugly that nobody would even consider stealing them. As far as rods/reels, they get oh so much prettier with a 5lb smallie hanging from them. oe

Size Of Jerkbait.....matter?
You will never know if/why they AREN'T biting... I believe having my bait approximate the size of the prevalent forage is a good thing. oe

Hair Jigs
My preference is the shorter bunny hair. The longer hair blows up to look like a puffer fish. Marabou will give you a great undulation. I look for rabbit pelts that have very thin hides. Thin hides will give you strips that will undulate nicely when tied as a tail... I've been known to split the hide of a bunny strip. oe

Abu Garcia C4
Tom, You are a better man than me. I've played with white, black & blue and the spool weight is too heavy to work well with lighter weight baits. They are my favorite reels to pitch with and throw spinnerbaits and such, but there are plenty of better choices for lighter weight baits. oe

Abu Garcia C4
Older C series reels have a "2-block" brake system... 1/4oz is pretty light for these reels. Newer C series reels have a " 6-block" brake system... 1/4oz is more doable with these reels. oe
