  1. I think most would agree that Champion produced the best hull configuration and ride of any bass boat. Before I bought my current bass boat, I looked hard for a good used Champion but came up empty. Chris Lane runs a Legend, which is another super hull. I was blindsided by the Charger, and hope they make the cut. Roger
  2. I was born in Hillside, NJ, but the whole township is as flat as a pancake
  3. If you're in the market for a 'fiberglass bass boat', four top-rung brands in my opinion are: Triton, Phoenix, Legend & Ranger, depending on your means. Roger
  4. Due to its very thin diameter, braided line provides a longer casting distance (less air-resistance). A jerk plug tied to braided line quickly attains its diving range (less water-resistance). Braided line has virtually no stretch during the hook-set. Hmmm, this is a tough choice (not) Roger
  5. The true definition of a 'Secret' is something you tell one person at a time. But telling one person a secret on Bass Resource, is telling 58,000 people at once. Roger
  6. The day I learned that we had bobcats & fox in our backyard, in my mind at least, my property value had 'doubled'. Although I might be a Jerseyite from the northeast, I've adored nature and the great outdoors since I was able to walk. Now retired in Florida, we have residents in our adult community who fear cougars, and ironically, this coming from a community named "Nature's Edge". At an HOA meeting, a woman was complaining about seeing a bobcat in her backyard, she asked what organization she should contact (I suppose she feared that they'd eat her grandchildren). Tongue in cheek, I suggested that she contact "Florida's Big Cat Rescue", assuring her that they are Florida's finest stewards of wild cats Roger
  7. That is true. In addition to who is holding the rod, is the combination of variables that make up the blank. For example, a blank with an extra-fast tip may disappoint you, but you might love that 'same blank' with a fast tip, or vice versa. Roger
  8. That tells me that your homestead is located in a predominantly arboreal area (wooded), because red fox prefer more open areas. When our home was buried in 10-acres of Georgian forest, we seen gray fox every night, but not a single red fox. Now we reside in the open orange orchard terrain of central Florida where we commonly see red fox, but nary a gray fox. Roger
  9. Mark Zona's presence on the forums should come as no surprise, Mark has an insatiable thirst for knowledge, which I salute. Roger
  10. Far be it from me answer for Kent, but he did underscore the 'Alberto Knot'. Roger
  11. Sure you do: but now come clean, you like hot babes better............................So Do I
  12. IT IS! Pinup babes are a dime a dozen, but pale in comparison to 'one' Florida-strain cougar Roger
  13. The best sinker weight to use for any lure hinges on Lure Displacement, Water Depth and whether you're looking for a Feeding Bite or Impulse Strike. I guess I'm really saying that there is no one best sinker weight. Roger
  14. Good Gravy!! 'ANY' soft-plastic bait can be Texas-rigged (i.e. anything can be rigged self-weedless) Roger
  15. Well the way I'm getting it, the Space Monkey does his best work above the stratosphere. Jest aside, the Space Monkey and Smokin Rooster have been usurped by the Rage Lobster & Rage Craw. Roger
  16. Totally agree! In fact, I even have an SCIII blank that falls a tad short of St. Croix's fabled reputation Roger
  17. When Superline (kitestring) first appeared on the fishing scene, some braided lines contained Kevlar, which is an abrasive material that erodes guide inserts. For several years, Kevlar gave all superlines a bad name, but that wives-tale has finally been laid to rest. Today we know that even aluminum-oxide guides are not grooved by gelspun polyethylene braid. To save a couple bucks, you can back-up your braided line with mono backing, which also provides the welcome cushion. However, if you'd prefer to have a knot-free mainline (who wouldn't?) simply wrap some electrical tape around the spool arbor first, then fill your spool entirely with your braid of choice, which will serve you for years ~ ~ In my unprejudiced experience (I used monofilament line from the early 1950s to year 2005), braided line doesn't cause problems, braided line solves problems. Roger
  18. Unless you're working in real heavy cover, a 6-ft med power / fast action blank makes a very good all-purpose rod. Roger
  19. You fooled me Glenn, I was expecting something like: "All that glitters is not gold"

    How About: > 4" Senko - cinnamon brown > 5" Senko - green pumpkin black flake > 6" Senko - green pumpkin black flake > 7" Senko - junebug
  22. It seems that sonar technology may be at a sticking point.
  23. Chirp supposedly delivers better separation, but for many users the jury is still out. Roger

You're good to go man! I just plugged in the induction cooker
  25. Vancouver Island, BC? Wow! Two dropshot baits I really like are the Jackall 4" Crosstail Shad and the Roboworm 4.5" Straight-tail Worm (though not a minnow bait). Roger
