Reducing Line Twist
the best way to get rid of line memory is to just use your reel and deal with it, a couple trips or one decent trip of fishing and catching and it wont be a problem at all unless you let it sit for awhile without using it...

Baitcasting Reel For Beginner
one important thing i didnt see mentioned. is if the reel will be left handed or right handed. i would buy a reel that youre going to be comfortable reeling with. if youre used to holding the rod with your right hand and reeling with your left, buy a left handed reel and vice versa...

Advice
definately try the jerkbaits with long pauses. and i would also try some shallow diving cranks like a manns 1-minus

Va Smith Moutain Lake Advice
honestly ive never caught a striper over at the dam. but i have seen them break like crazy there. id try craddock creek for stripers this time of year. chartruese mister twister 4inch swimbaits on trolled on large jig heads work for me this time of year there. for bass, chrome lipless cranks, baby bass, and pearl white colors have worked well for me... i'd be there this weekend if i didnt have to go to NC tonite, oh well, just gives me a chance to hit up lake gaston and a pond my bro-in-law is gonna take me too

best method by far ive seen to remove gut hooked fish, works every time for me. one of the best things i ever learned on this site. good thing to because the next 3 bass i caught after learning this were hooked in the gullet. also had to use the method 3-4 times this past saturday... http://www.in-fisherman.com/print/3560

Bluegill
small gold abeerdeen hook, a split shot or two about 18 inches above that and nightcrawlers. sometimes ill use a bobber as well, especially if im using crickets... never liked using artificial for bluegills

Spooked Fish
this happens to me all the time at a pond, i cross a bridge over a small creek, a couple steps off the bridge up a slope and im at the edge of the pond and see bass swimming off. recently ive had luck throwing a baby rage craw weightless out after them and they circle back for it, thats if i have a rod ready to go, i usually only take no more than two when pond fishing. another things that works is walk on down the bank and fish for a bit, after awhile throw a spinnerbait along the bank past that spot and i will get bit on the retrieve

Line Dilemma
no need to replace the line. it may coil up a bit at first but just getting it wet, and even catching a few fish will straighten it right out...

Gill Hooking Fish....
ive hooked several fish through the gills before but never experienced heavy bleeding from the fish. yesterday though i did have to remove hooks from bass hooked in the throat using night crawlers, 3 i caught and 1 my bro in law hooked. in the process i showed him the through the gills method, hooks popped right out every time. he was surprised to learn that after telling me to cut the line haha...

Top 100 College Football Traditions: #2
the numbers are skewed because you have way more guys trying to make it to the NFL than actually do make it, its not because those guys arent talented, its because only so many can be kept, some guys get caught in a numbers game at their position. others simply get beat out for the job. nfl teams carry around 80 players in the offseason i believe, only 53 make the final roster, so yes that skews percentages. also teams might be stacked at certain positions, but they also bring in "camp bodies" at that position, knowing those players will only make the team if there is a major injury. teams will do things like bring in an extra kicker even though theyre settled at the position, they do this to keep the incumbents leg fresher, not because they need competition or a new kicker. the NFLPA figures dont account for such scenarios. and why would i take it up with the NFLPA, youre the one involved in the discussion and quoting them as some end-all be-all. and of course there is way more college teams than nfl teams, therefore more college players challenging for jobs. and lets not forget the college players who only play football for the scholarships so they can get an education to be what they really want to be...

hit reply at the bottom of the post you want to quote, it probably should say quote instead of reply, seems like its mislabeled. to quote multiple posts click on multiquote at the bottom of the posts, then scroll down and click add reply

the thing i noticed about the vicious fishing displays at 3 of the walmarts i been to lately. there is usually two displays pushed together, what you dont typically see is that there is more stuff in between where the two things are pushed together...- River Fishing
google the name of the river to see if there are fish in there, and what type- Nhl Playoffs
GO CAPS!!! What a comeback that was last night, i went to bed after the first overtime, glad to wake up and see they got the win. they dont have the pressure and expectations this year as they did last year... be careful or you might offend them, its CanadiEns LOL. anyways i will always hate them, especially after they took the caps out in round 1 last year, got to admit, that goalie, Halak, played lights out in that series last year. im not huge on hockey, slowly getting into it the last 3 years or so, but that may be the best stretch by a goalie i ever seen...- Top 100 College Football Traditions: #2
not totally true, players not invited to the combine can be drafted as well. and some players who do attend are not always drafted either. and also, with teams having roster limits there is only so many nfl jobs available for players, so the percentages you posted are bound to be flawed and/or skewed- Censored Words
have you not read this thread thoroughly? people know what you intend for poon to mean, doesnt mean thats the only thing they think about upon reading it though...dsaavedra got the joke- Stupid Question
20 minutes? wow. and paint sucks for photo stuff. for a resize i use irfanview, its a free simple easy to use great program for pics, takes like 10 seconds to resize a photo...- Is It Just Me?
i cant believe people are still complaining about the site, i hate it for them if they decide to join any other forums. this place took a huge step up, and to be honest i wasnt very fond of the old forum because it seemed very out of date, then again i dont come here because of how the place looks, i come here for the information available here...- Censored Words
this from a guy who has POON under his name, LOLOLOL- Wasting Line?
i fish my line down to where its dang near casting off the spool before i change it. but all i use is mono. here lately ive been thinking about trying braid, but am waiting for one of my reels i want to try it on to get low on line so the backing is already there...- The Bite, The Hook Set, The Fight Or The Landing?
for me its about the fight as well. but there was a time i would lose a few nice fish more than i landed them due to the line snapping, went to bigger line on everything, learned how to fight a fish and steadily going back to smaller and smaller lines with good success. the biggest part in that was learning to have the drag set properly. but for me, its definately the fight, i love hooking into a big fish and hearing line scream off the reel, testing my grip on the rod, not knowing exactly what move the fish may make next, etc...- Pond Fishin
in a pond almost anything will work.... and ive met a pond that doesnt seem to like topwater frogs- Which Spinning Reel Under $40
i have two fairly new spinning reels around the $40 range, both have worked excellent for me thus far... one is a the abu garcia cardinal 104, the other is the pfleuger trion gx-7... - Vicious At Walmart
