We lost a true friend
Gawd.. I just saw this. :'( He called me a couple months ago to see what I was up to since I don't post often anymore. Generous guy with his stuff, information and himself. He will be missed. RIP Jack and I'll pray for your family.

Favorite hardbait and plastics color you wish they would bring back or new ones ?
Storm had a series of special craw colors the Wiggle Warts were available in besides the standard green and brown craw that are in their lineup now. They pop up on the forums and Ebay occasionally, very, very expensive.

Here's your next fishing boat!?
$65k for the standard model, $85k for the heavily customized!! Imagine coming to the weigh-in in that thing. Launch yourself 12ft into the air, settle down at the no wake bouy's, pull up to the dock, get out in your tux with a stringer of fish and then request a martini...... shaken not stirred.

Wow. New low in customer service.
Uhhh.... If you lived in China, the likely manufacture country of that rod n reel combo, you could probably easily find somebody to repair that for less than what you paid for it. But this is America!! You bought a disposable item built in some sweat shop. When it breaks you throw it in the trash can. How you could possibly believe that anybody in this country could fix that rod for under $24 is beyond me. :

Price of a flasher?
Are the flashers being built today even flashers in the traditional sense? I though these were basically LED or LCD units that merely acted like the flashers of old. BTW, you can occasionally find an old Lowrance or Hummingbird flasher on Ebay or Craigslist for very reasonable. Whether it works or not and finding accessories like cables and transducers is another matter.

TRACKER HULL FAILURE
I didn't have much choice no other brand will trade a damaged hull the only way I'm getting the $5,000 trade in value (Buyback) is on another Tracker brand. I could have turned it to my insurance but the amount would have only been used on another hull a Tracker hull. Getting a Nitro was a better way of using what Tracker was willing to give me it beats getting nothing. Tight Lines Pa Angler I think I would've consulted a lawyer given the amount of money you were talking about. A boat hull that is falling apart at the seams after only 2 years is incredible. The fact that it did it again just 2 years after a factory fix is even worse. Avoiding getting into the whole Tracker/Nitro is a piece of cr*p thing, that boat conglomeration (which includes your boat despite the "brand" name) has a long history of very poor customer service/satisfaction. I had a friend that bought one of the Tracker Marine "Tahoe" deck boats that turned into a nightmare so going from the aluminum side of the equation to fiberglass won't help any. With that conglomerations boat building, it seems as though it's a roll of the dice as to whether you'll get a good boat or not. BTW, early BPS tracker aluminums built through the late 80's were infamous for leaking BADLY after just a few years on the water. Good luck on your new boat.

Cost of shipping rods
I recently shipped 2 rods in a 2" diameter piece of Sched 40, PVC well casing. It was a snug fit with the rods wrapped with newspaper. A 4 inch tube would probably handle 4-5 rods. Avoid cardboard tubes. I quit using them after having a few breakages in shipment. Avoid thin walled PVC. Those can and will fracture if struck hard enough. Try and use schedule 40. It's heavier and will add to the shipping cost but I've never had one break. I secure the ends with multiple wraps of duck tape or clear packing tape. There is no need to make any sort of glued on screw end caps or anything like that. That is mere overkill and could result in the buyer breaking the rods if he can't figure out how to get the end caps off. Mark the tube "tip end", "butt end" so the buyer knows. Obviously, if the rods are not aligned that way in the tube that's not feasible. GET INSURANCE. Packages over 6' in length have extra surcharges since none of the carriers can process them through normal means at the distribution centers (via conveyor belts). There's usually a formula that takes length, weight and girth of the rod tube into account along with where it's going to.

I'm never buying tackle on ebay again...
Bad luck no. It was ignorance on my behalf for fooling with someone that has 99.2% positive. I've never had a single issue with someone that has 100% positive feedback. I am also a seller(with 100% positive feedback) and know how hard it is to satisfy every single person when you have thousands of transactions every year but it happens. Making money on shipping is not the issue here. I make money on shipping to. Everybody does. Ebay gets so and so percentage of the final sale price. You tack a few bucks on shipping because ebay doesn't get any of that money. This is not dishonest because it doesn't change the final value the customer pays. This guy charged me for Priority then used a slower, cheaper method of delivery. That's false advertisement. Both Priority and 1st class are advertised with 2-3 day delivery times. On something as small as a bag of hooks or weights I'm not surprised the seller used first class though he should have notified you. 100% feedback is very, very hard to maintain if you sell regularly. There is a small percentage of Ebay buyers who have gross over expectations of anything they purchase and are way too quick to leave negative or neutral feedback despite how you attempt to resolve their problem. If you're purchasing from a frequent seller with a rating over 95% you will probably not have an issue.

BPS Reel Parts - Outdoor World Rod & Reel Repair
I don't remember her name.. Debbie maybe? She's been with them a while and knows her stuff. She is very helpful, will send you reel schematics even if it's for a BPS reel you're not currently ordering parts for and I've had her throw cosmetic pieces in for free if they're available and I need them. Great gal.

Sterling?
Considering the history of Gambler boats, changing its brand name to something else is a "Gamble"... ;D Seriously though.. Sterling? :-? Would seem that boat brand deserves something a little flashier.

Looks like we're moving to Kansas
I think there's about 6 trees in the entire state of Kansas. Don't forget to wave at the storm chaser guys from the Discovery Channel when they pass your new house. No rush, they usually camp out where there's a good chance to see a twister and Wichita is one darn good camping spot for that.

Adding transom floatation
Shifting that much weight forward will help solve the transom issue, sort of.. but you'll wind up with problems getting the nose of that 370 to lift running across the water. Those 370's were slow running barges to begin with and didn't like rough water. Creating a bow lift problem will only make that worse. I'd say learn to live with the problem. Old Hydra Sport bass boats were some of the lowest stern sitting boats I ever saw. The owners learned to compensate for it and live with the issue.

New trolling motor length?
Trailering a boat with the TM down? Been there, done that. 10hp motor only lake. I trolled up to the courtesy dock and tied off, got the trailer and put it in the water, went back to the boat started the big motor to trailer it and forgot to pull up the TM. Needless to say you're right, you can't trailer a boat properly with the TM still deployed into the water... ;D

Of all sports...
Clubs?? Yard sales, yard sales, yard sales. Specifically, go to nicer neighborhoods where you're prone to find golfers living. I picked up a Taylor Made 360ti driver in excellent shape for $5 a few weeks ago. Craigslist is another place to look. Before you go any further invest in lessons. The golf swing is absolutely what the game is about and getting good swing habits started early will really help your game along as well as making it more enjoyable. Also understand that while crushing a long drive is nice, it's the short game and your proficiency at it, that really helps shave the strokes off the final score. That and putting. You don't have to always play full sized golf courses to sharpen that part of your game. Try playing some par 3 courses, the St Louis area has several. Yes, the game is addictive. I've literally given up fishing the past year and taken the game up again. I used to be pretty good, an 8 handicapper at one time. That was 25 years ago. I really love the swing mechanics of the game and understanding that part. I will say that the 25 years of aging has made the game a little more challenging than it was. If I had some of this equipment back then, especially the drivers, I'd have been crushing 300+ yd drives all the time. Enjoy.

HELP ME CHOSE A LAKE WITHIN 2 HOURS OF ST LOUIS
Washington County lake, south of Nashville in Illinois. LOZ is not within 2 hours of St louis. Washco is probably the lake closest to the city where you've got an excellent opportunity to stick a big fish. It's a power bait lake as well, no messing with finesse techniques.

Need help with 2009 Revo STX
I had several REVO STX, old style. Way tougher to throw than a Cent. brake reel or the much better dual brakes. Those reels would've been way better off with a good Cent brake than the rather pathetic mag brake they were using. The old style STX's (and SX's which were even harder to cast) relied heavily on setting the spool tension and using it as a pseudo cent brake to help in controlling the initial spool spin-up. Since the initial part of the cast, at the snap of the wrist, is much harder to control spool movement vs. later in the cast, getting the spool tension set stronger than a normal reel is essential to keeping those reels from backlashing.
