  1. Looking at bass pro's site the Revo MGX is on sale for $250 but alot of the reviews complain about the side plate so it is probably not just problematic for leftys.
  2. I like the regular SLX too and I think it is pretty good with light weight baits maybe the VBS is why. I have thought maybe buy the MGL spool and see how it works.
  3. I use to like YZH, then when the green colored line went on clearance on TW I got bad spools of line, so have not used it in several years and went with Sunline Defier, McCoy and Gamma copolys. Anyway it is strong for it's diameter with good knot strength and decent sensitivity provided you get a good spool. Also i like the #10 best it casts better than the #12 and is plenty strong. BTW it is not bigger line diameter than most and yet it gets stated alot here. Sufix Elite and Siege are .014 at #12 so is Big Game, YZH is .013 as is McCoy and Gamma.
  4. If you are just chucking and winding lures just get a Fuego CT and save some cash.
  5. Doyo reels can be pretty good. I usually buy reels in the $100-150 range like the original Daiwa Tatula and Tatula CTs, Shimano Citica D,E,G and a few Curados on sale and I found the Korean made Doyo Pflueger reels in this range like the Asaro/President were just as reliable, smooth and cast as far(Daiwa TWing reels seem easier at pitching). Granted these reels were made in the 2010-15 and it is hard to say if quality has remained the same.
  6. Actually I had a few Citica 100 DSVs and they were great reels and the SLX really is basically the same reel but I guess slightly lighter but I am not sure that is a good thing as lighter means less metal.
  7. Sebile flatt shad on ebay.
  8. Even the Lexa 100 was listed as freshwater/light saltwater so I think you are good to go
  9. Yes I use Daiwa and Abu Garcia coastal/inshore baitcasters and I always seem to be the only one not using spinning tackle. But I would not skip the bass fishing, here in northern Indiana I bass over 5 lbs are rare and we had no problem catching 7 lbers.
  10. The Stan Sloan ones catch alot of bass for me, I highly recommend them.
  11. I would stop by my friends house in the Punta Gorda/Port Charlotte area where I have a tackle bag and lures for bass and inshore snook and reds and go fish some Peace River canals and Webb Lake. Try out frogs, spooks, senkos and spinnerbait/swimbaits.
  12. Off topic but I wish we got some of your reels, Daiwa OZ has the Fuego 200 and the Fuego SV but the US market does not.
  13. I throw the larger one when targeting larger fish. If I just want to get a bite, small ones are great and most I own are smaller 1/8-5/16 oz types. Same thing with frogs use the smaller ones if they are really smashing it up size for the bigguns .
  14. It is not the same as a Gold Cast or even as good as a Silver Cast, i know I bought 3 of them about 10 years ago.
  15. Save the money, the Fuego is not inferior, the only Tatula CT I own is the 5.5to1 because it is not available in a Fuego.
  16. Kastking sunglasses are great for the price, but the reels....I would exchange it for the Fuego 8.1 like Russ E said.
  17. Team Daiwa S 6'3" Topwater Twitchin rod.
  18. Either Kaenons or Smith Chromapop are best. They have a Trivex lens that is very near the clarity of glass and just as light and strong as Polycarbonate. I use to have Costa 580Gs in the Jose and I could not tell the difference in clarity between them and the Kaenons I had.
  19. I use to use the improved clinch until this happened with Siege , went to Trilene knot and no more slippage. I use it all the time as I fish copoly 90% of the time.
  20. I used mine for 4"-5" hollow belly swimbaits. It is easy to overwork those baits with a faster IPT. Also slow rolling Colorado blade spinnerbaits or moving those football jigs slow in deep water.
  21. The single Colorado blade catches more than any other, Stan Sloan short arms are the best for largemouth anyway.
  22. The one you have is just fine with a very good reputation, probably on par with a Daiwa Fuego or Shimano SLX but a little heavier. The newer lighter one is not as well thought of but when on sale is probably an ok buy.
  23. Probably their top of the line rod in the 90s, should be plenty sensitive.
  24. I have or have had Shimano, Daiwa, Pflueger, Ardent, Abu and Bass Pro reels and none gave me a problem except for the ones made in China.
