  1. Sunline Defier Shooter in 13lb(.0118). Armillo gets really coily quick, Shooter handles better. If I need more abrasion resistance then Armillo and some KVD line conditioner works ok. Now Defier lines are pricey so I also use Gamma or McCoys copoly, and I want to try the P-line topwater as it seems to get good reviews.
  2. Xcalibur one knocker. Works all seasons and you can cast it further and cover more water than about anything else.
  3. Big Game is ok considering the price, I would rather spend the money on Gamma/McCoys/Sunline copolys which are similar in strength per line diameter but better handling. Any opinions on Berkely Fluroshield Copoly? I just spooled up two reels with 17lb (.015) to take to Florida (from Indiana) to do some inshore and maybe bass fishing. Testing it out with a 3/8 chatterbait it seems to cast really smooth and supposedly has like 24.9 lb break strength and tied a strong knot with improved clinch.
  4. I caught more bass on one knock xcaliburs all year long than multi rattle, they were always productive so just bought a few of these Yo Zuris to try. Also have an older version the Duel Hardcore one knock.
  5. Fish the rapala's around soft cover, hard cover they break go to Spro/LC etc for that.
  6. Not now with all the inflation. Even Pro Qualifiers are $100, buy used or new old stock for a better price. Recently I did buy 2 Daiwa Aird Coastals for like $50 apiece that were a few years old but never used, yes a graphite framed reel but still very nice reels.
  7. A used Daiwa Fuego CT or Shimano SLX would be better unless you have to have new.
  8. Buy sunglasses with Trivex lens and get the best of both worlds-lightweight and impact resistant but good clarity. Costa has them but weirdly only in prescription lenses.
  9. Nobody skips with spinning anymore? I hate spinning reels but dock skipping is much easier with them and a short spinning rod IMO.
  10. Sure if Daiwa made a quality under spin to replace the Eliminator spinning reel I have I would do it. I mostly use baitcasters and I hate spinning but spinning is better at a few things. But there are no quality under spins.
  11. The ones like this Asaro I have from 10 years ago were really nice work horse reels, just as good as my Citicas and Lexas were that were similar sized. Made in the same Korean factories as Abu Revo reels but they had different frames, around 2014/15 they were on the same frames with small deviations so unless Pure Fishing makes them different again no reason for Pflueger reels sadly.
  12. Yes the Zorro short arm spinnerbait flat out catches em, use it alot, but the OP wanted compact spinnerbaits.
  13. X2 on those finesse 3/16-5/16ths War Eagles, or Stanley has 1/8 oz finesse spinnerbaits in Colorado blades.
  14. Netbait Paca Craw when motion is needed. Zoom chunk when it's cold and less motion is better.
  15. I'm from Indiana and have a good friend move to SW Florida 8 years ago. I go visit and we mostly fish inshore but sometimes we fish for bass in Webb Lake. There are big bass and big gators there. For anyone else that is not from the deep south and you are bank fishing like my friend and I, just be careful where you walk otherwise the gators leave you alone. Another plus is you can get good pics.
  16. SLX is my favorite current, I like the old set em and forget em brakes. Reel is very similar to my old Citia 100 DSV all time fav.
  17. Just send the reel to DVT if it needs work, I would not worry too much about the warranty.
  18. I have a 6'3" for jerkbaits/walking lures a 6'4" M for accurate target casting and a 5'6" spinning for skipping docks. There definitely is still a need for them and I would like to see them make a comeback and I want full cork grip rods to be more common too.
  19. Full cork handles for me.
  20. The BPS reels sale price is the same as the regular price last year due to inflation. Still I might trade an old spinning reel in and use my points and get a Curado.
  21. They should bring back the DT Thug, caught alot of Smallies on them.
  22. So no more full cork handles on St Croix?
  23. Ebay as they were discontinued. I think all Sebile lures were.
  24. 3/8ths Sebile Flatt Shad Snagless version works pretty good .
  25. I had a 6'6" ML Premier and it had more backbone than my 6'4" M All Star, St Croixs are different(unless it is a Premier/Avid cranking rod).
