  1. I see you have what looks like registration numbers on the yak in the 3rd photo. Are you required to register your kayaks on Oklahoma? We don't have to register kayaks in MO
  2. Anyone fished the Salt River access US 61 (Indian Camp Access) ? Looks good on Google Earth, thinking maybe a good place to fish from the kayak for small mouth. MDC web site http://mdc4.mdc.mo.g...?txtAreaID=7205
  3. There are power plant lakes that can be fished year around in the Midwest.
  4. Congratulations, I spent more time in my kayak this year than my deep V aluminum. If you are in the St. Louis area try West Lake in Bowling Green. No boat ramp so it gets very little pressure. http://www.geospy.org/object/GS26Z
  5. The Jeep looks good too.
  6. You probably have room on the transom to add one in back also. I have both on my deep V and found the transmount motor comes in handy once in awhile
  7. The wider the kayak the more stable but the wider kayaks are much slower and take more effort to paddle. I thought about selling my Loon 138 sit in and getting a SOT but like the speed of the loon when having to cover any distance. Kayaks are cheap enough that owning a second kayak is an option. Told my wife I was going to trade her yak for a SOT but that didn't go over very well.
  8. Hope no on was hurt. So tell us how it happened?
  9. Everyone, Thanks for the feed back.! I didn't think of color change, will give that a try if I have the same problem.
  10. I took a 7lb out of there a few weeks ago and hope to do better.
  11. I fished a 45 acre lake out of my kayak yesterday. There is no boat ramp and you really have to work to drag a yak up a steep hill to get on the water. The lake gets very little preasure. As usual the lake yielded a good number of bass on a small crank bait. Every fish was hooked on the tail hook only and a a few were able to get off. I slowed the retrieve a little no help. What else could I have done differen't?
  12. I have 1.5lb folding anchor, it is on the light side 3 lbs maybe better as my yak weighs 70 plus pounds and a friend sewed a drift sock for me.
  13. If you get lucky you could find a used Loon 138. They have a large cockpit. I am 6'1" over 200 lbs and have tons of room. Easy to add rod holders and an anchor trolly yourself. Thses are very durable boats.
  14. My Endura 36 transom mount bracket wouldn't let me lower the motor. After taking it apart I saw the red realease handle was cracked letting the T bar shaft pull thru. As it turns out you don't need to dissassemble to fix it. I found a washer that was slightly larger than the T bar shaft and cut a slot in it with a dremal tool. You can slide Place the washer in place on the front of the cracked red handle while pushing the T Bar with your other hand. Repair kits are available for around $20.
  15. I was considering upgrading to A 24 volt trolling motor on my Fisher Marsh hawk 165 but the space is tight for batteries. Can I wire 2 batteries in series and use one of them as the starting battery for the big motor? One problem would be the alternator in the gas motor would only charge one battery?
  16. Nice yak! This past summer I fished from my Loon 138 yak more than I did my big boat would like to upgrade to one I can stand up in.
  17. I would send the photo to your DNR. for an opinion.
  18. I left a rod a nd reel at a lake at Bush Wildlife. Came back for it an hour later after I realized it was gone. And somebody kept it. Oh well. My wife did catch a rod and reel while fishing Lincoln lake near troy MO..
  19. Sometimes it seems like the more you spend on any hobby the less succesful you are. I have had more sucess this year fishing out of my 15 year old kayak, 3 poles and a small amount of tackle than I have with my big boat with all the electonics and all the rods, reels and tackle it has room for..
  20. I went fishing on a small 45 acre lake out in the country the other day and found a new friend. We were unloading our kayaks to drag up the heill to the lake and golden lab comes running up just as freindly as can be. He decided to follow me from the shore as I paddled along the shore. The dog would stop and seemed be focused on the water and start barking. I thought I wonder if he sees fish. Casting into the area he stopped and barked yielded a bass everytime. Never knew there were fishing guide dogs before this.
  21. I am on the big side and have lots of room in my Old Town Loon 138 and it is very stable. Handles rough water well and desent speed for its class.. They are made with Polylink 3 and are indestructable. Wheighs about 74lbs so not the lightest. Not in production but if might find a used one for a reaonable price.
  22. Welcome, we aren't too far from you just a little west in Wentzville.
