  1. I was by myself and launching my boat into a small lake. I had a rope attached to the boat and tied off to the trailer. All went well until the rope broke. The boat drifts out to the middle of the lake and there wasn't anyone else out on the water to help me retrieve the boat. Called my buddy to ask him to stop by my home and pickup my kayak and bring it out to the lake so I could get my boat back.
  2. I keep an old school hand written log book.
  3. Generally the longer the better for tracking. I went from a 13' 8" to 12' 6" to save weight. The Loon 126 tracks as good as the Loon 138 but My wife's kayak was a 10 foot Loon 100 and did not track as well and seemed less stable as either of the longer yaks. You really need to test drive the ones your interested to be sure. You mention narrow rivers and streams and a 10 footer has an advantage in that environment.
  4. Function first over form color makes no difference to me.
  5. I had a short 1.5" piece break off a tip of a pole and replaced the guide on the tip to repair it. The new guide is a littler bigger guide than was on the original tip. Does it really have any impact on performance?
  6. I could not copy the link for some reason.
  7. I bet someone has a youtube on how to do it.
  8. Around $40 for 5/4 x 6" x 8' probably cheaper than plywood
  9. Fish more often and try different places.
  10. I have had good luck with Costco batterries and they are priced lower than a lot of others. Also the Walmart batteries others have mentioned have been good. As others have said biggest battery that fits is the way to go. Since I installed an on board charger my batteries have held up better.
  11. Normally not a fan of Progressive Insurance but they had the best deal for me. As others stated lots of variables determine the cost, you just need to call around and see who has the best deal.
  12. As others said buy what you can afford and pay cash.
  13. I was reading about World Class Bass Fishing at Loskop Reservior in South Africa. Florida strain largemouth are considered an invasive species in South Africa. If they want help with the problem they could pay our way there and I am sure a lot of us would be glad to to help catch the bass.
  14. I trust the onboard charger lights when they say fully charged. I check the individual cells in my batteries with a hydrometer and add distilled water twice year even if they show a good charge.
  15. Google Kayak rigging and search Kayak on Facebook and you will find tons of helpful information and ideas.
  16. The Newport Vessel sells for $199 you can get a Minn Kota Endura Max 55 for $245 online from Walmart. I would get the Minn Kota for $45 more. I have a had Minn Kota that is at least 20 years old and still going strong. I did have to fix the mounting bracket with a $6 dollar part this year.
  17. Rack systems are pricey maybe consider a Harbor Freight type trailer. When I was younger I used to toss a Loon 138 on the roof of a Jeep Liberty but I have switched to a truck with bed extender. If I had to give up the truck i would go to a trailer.
  18. You got a steal. The trailer is worth more that. Don't think you need near that big of tire for a small boat like that.
  19. https://www.thehulltruth.com/boating-forum/740670-gluing-back-hull-deck-little-bass-tender.html This link should help.
  20. If your priority is tracking and speed in a sit in kayak. You can't beat an Old Town Loon 126. The 126 is stable but I would not stand in it. Weight is 56 lbs so not too bad to man handle by yourself. The seat is very comfortable.
  21. A friend of mine co-owns a 21 foot bass boat and seems happy with the arrangement. They both tournament fish.
  22. I pay $100 a year on my 2001 Fisher Marine deep V. Progressive was the best deal I can find. Not required in Missouri.
  23. I have a 2001 Fisher Marine Marshhawk 165 deep V welded hull. Hasn't leak a drop of water or developed any cracks.
