  1. As others stated intentionally dragging on concrete ramps isn't good. That said even if you don't intentionally drag the yak kayaks can still take a beating from rocks and gravel while launching, landing and shallow water. One inexpensive way to get a little protection is Gorilla tape.
  2. Spent a week at Ten Mile Lake a few years ago. Bass fishing was good. You got 10000 lakes to choose from much more than we do in Missouri.
  3. I think you need to think 12 footer. If nothing else 12' is going to track better than a 10'. See if you can get a test drive before you decide. I sold my Old Town Loon 138 (almost 14 foot) to a guy 6' 5" .
  4. I can tell you no more Nike's after the B.S. that a Betsy Ross Flag might offend someone so they didn't release them for sale.
  5. Bass Pro sells the Bass pro branded AM-24 made by Onyx and identical to their AM 24 . Less than $100 if you catch it on sale. Academy has the AM 24 on sale for $89. Wear mine in my bass boat and kayak, you almost forget you have it on.
  6. I fish alone more often than not in my kayak. The guys I fish with are more into crappie fishing and aren't into kayak fishing especially the hard to get on the water places. If I fish out of my bass boat at lakes a couple hours away or more nice to have someone along. Actually thinking of selling my bass boat as it gets so little use.
  7. And don't forget proper tire inflation. Under inflated tires are one of the biggest causes of trailer tire failure.
  8. As mentioned above could be normal. Still a good idea to make sure the bilge up works.
  9. Take the motor off and see if you get full range of motion. Also make sure the base is level.
  10. Had not started boat in a couple months. Hooked the muffs to it and fired it up. Cranked quite a bit before it started and let it run a few minutes.. Then I pulled the cowl off and saw wiffs of smoke! Found the yellow wires from the voltage regulator were melting. Followed the wires and the only place they were melting was near the voltage regulator. Priced voltage regulators online range from $39 to $150 for OEM. Are the cheap ones a waste of money?
  11. Looks interesting. Web site said 77 lbs base lighter than I thought it would be.
  12. Add a drain plug like this https://www.austinkayak.com/YakGear-Kayak-Drain-Plug-with-Base/ACK213P.html
  13. Had the same situation. The hinge broke on the door couldn't find parts. Cheapest complete Gator Mount I found was around $150. Fixed with 2 stainless steel straps from Lowe's plumbing department. Picture only shows one strap but I added another one. Problem solved works great. Works better than new.
  14. What kayak are we talking about?
  15. Bought a new Min Kota same thrust as the old one and installed it. Ended up taking it back as the motor was very noisey and the low speed 1 was so slow it was useless. So I took it back and came up with this solution. The hinge door that holds the motor on a Motor Guide 360 mount broke off on the top hing pin. This is a discontinued mount. Ending up fixing with a metal pipe strap. I will add a second strap since there under $2. I didn't want to spend $250 to $300 on a new mount on an old motor. Reasonably confident this will work.
  16. Made new bunks at home then went to the closest boat ramp and beached the boat and replaced the bunks.
  17. I thought $300 for a mount was a bit steep. Bought a MK Edge 55 for $519 - $50 MK rebate- $10 off store rebate plus 10 percent veteran discount with free MK106D charger. After selling the motor that is still good and the charger will end up with $400 in a new trolling motor. Anybody want a good MG Brute 52 with new foot control switch and newer speed control. $100 for the motor and $60 for new in box MK106D digital charger.
  18. $500 for new trolling motor, $179 new AGM trolling motor battery but will recover some of it when I sell the old MG Brute 52 and the Minn Kota MK106D battery charger that came with the Edge 55 trolling motor. Really haven't had to spend that much over the years on the bass boat. If you want a MG Brute 52 motor works great the mount is broken. $100 that is cheaper than what a typical repair would cost if yours is broke. $60 brand new in box MK106D digital battery charger sell for $99 in stores. I think you win the most spent award. Insurance wouldn't pay?
  19. What does it cost? Does it include the trolling motor? Deductable?
  20. I am over 200lbs and use that life vest. So comfortable you forget you have it on. I recommend getting one. http://www.apsltd.com/aps-advisor/guide-choosing-inflatable-life-jackets-expert-advice/
  21. Any one have a bow mount for MotorGuide trolling motor for reasonable price? . My mount broke and the Brute 52 motor is still good. If I can't find one Academy has a Minn Kota edge 55 with a charger for 519 - 50 rebate. Would rather save some money.
