Just trying to get off the bank. With kayaks I can get so e exersice bit with a canoe I can put a motor on the back. But with canoes I might need a second person to help me load the canoe on the too of my SUV. With a kayak I can do it by myself.

Are you saying that braid is not the way to go while using a t rigged worm or creature of some kind? I have to disagree with you there I have used braid and caught plenty of fish. In fact I have used 10# and 65# pp and I can feel my lure and what is goes over just fine

After years of beating the banks up the wife ok'ed me buying a fishing kayak. The only problem I have is that I have no idea what I'm doing. I browsed bps and dicks for sometime just eyeing them but never really understood what I was really looking at. So what is all involved if buying a yak,paddle & life vest? I only have three poles right now so do I need a rod holder? What other goodies do I need? I have about 1000 to 1500 to spend.

You can use fluorocarbon as a leader in clear water. So it doesn't spook the fish. But I use 65# of pp because there are a ton of things in the water where I fish.

Just got a free bottle of yum crawfish fish attractant. Since I'm new here I don't know if there is any crawfish in the river so would that fish attractant work here?

It's hard to do that when you stand on a dock and you are just a tad shy of the old dock on the other side. So you try to muscle your way to it. Lesson learn

Only thing I can do is laugh. I took the rod out and haven't had any problems with it yesterday. But I didn't try to cast a mile.

I carry a multi tool issued to me from the army. Plus needle nose and a wire cutter plus a toe nail ciippers. I carry a back pack that's hardly ever out of arms reach plus the multi tool on my hip

That's a lot of information hopefully I can switch it over and be successful.

Anyone fish around the Ft Belvoir,VA section of the Potomac river? I have stupid question but should I fish it as a river or something like a lake. I haven't really bass fished it to much. Normally fish it for catfish.

When I was starting out everyone told me to start with plastics. But I wasn't catching a thing. Then I found this pale and everyone was like hook sets are free. Then I went out and felt a soft hit and set the hook so hard I knocker my glasses and hat into the water lucky for me it was a four pounder and I'm. Bank fisherman so I could retrieve my hat and glasses

I'm relocating to fuequy North Carolina when I get out of the army soon. I was just wondering where is there to fish. I primarily fish from shore but might get my father in law's kayak. Any help would be tremendous.
