bow mounting a trolling motor
Fluke, I thought about that but I was scared that it was going to be at an angle that would make it hard to read.

bow mounting a trolling motor
Notice the bracket for support. If I had to do over again I would spread the swithes apart and leave the middle empty. Here's the finished product. Hope that helps.

Is your home lake your favorite?
My home lake is my favorite. I fished it for a year when a house came up on the market and it was a no brainer (I had to have it). I'm lucky, all I have to do is push my boat in and I'm fishing. Even on slow days we'll catch 15-20 bass with our PB at 8.5 lbs.

If this was where you fished...
Sal, I live just south of you and my home lake went through the same thing. Whats been working for me in that time slot is a Rapala Shallow Shad Rap with a steady retrieve. Good Luck.

Trolling Motor Lock
Golfnut, sounds good. Take some pics after you're done and post them. I'm interested to see how it works and looks. Thanks.

Do Peacock bass chase off or supplant Largemouth?
I've never fished a spot that had Peacocks and no LM. This fish gets very aggresive during the hot summer months and likes the sun beating down. This time of year is a problem for anything that moves around peacocks. They really like top water baits that are worked hard. If you ever get a chance to fight a peacock don't pass it up, the fight is insane . Unfortunatly for most bass fisherman, they only live in South Fla and South America.

Putting a Hatch in My Jon Boat
I have that hatch on my boat and I walk on it and it feels real sturdy. I'm happy with how strong it is but I use it as dry storage and it leaks when it rains. Installed Good luck.

One more time
Sounds good to me. Figuer you're going to spend about $120 to recarpet (do-it-yourself).

Trolling Motor Wiring
I'm also runnig a 12v TM setup. What I do is run the TM on an A/B switch and run it on "ALL". This way I don't have to worry about switching over to the other battery. I can run all day and not come close to running out of juice.

Mike, My house is the one in the yellow box. No where to speed to . Good thing is, we start fishing from the time we push the boat in.

considering a jon boat...
Take a look at my Post "Project Finished". That boat comes with pedestals in the front and back. You will need a trailer for a boat this size (1448 Grizzly). It weighs about 400 lbs with nothing on it.

LBH, You are right on the money, that baby is heavy. We assume that it's at least 650 lbs if not over 700 . This boat is sitting in my back yard (no gas power allowed) and the TM is a 46 lb thrust MG. Thanks for the compliments

Thanks. Mike, The boat is a 1448 Grizzly. It's your boats smaller brother

Boat Opions Needed. Would you buy it?
The real question is. How much money do you have to spend on fixing it? I spent $1900 on my 14 ft grizzly and spent another $2000 to $2500 extra to get it to the point where it's at. It can get real expensive real fast. I would spend the money (under $10,000) on a used boat that works well.

I almost lost my dad about 3 months ago and in his honor, it's "My Son III". His last two boats were My Son and My Son II. I saw all the work you did on your paint and I'm a little embarrasssed to admit that I started off with your process and ended up changing the shade of blue and used spay paint :-[.

do you prefer to fish alone?
I like fishing with my fishing buddy. The build up is the best. 3 days of talking crap about how the other doesn't know what he's doing. My last outing with my buddy I was up 8 to 0. I caught the next fish while he was looking for a worm and I let the fish slap him around a little (priceless) ;D.

Project Finished (lots of Pics)
Hello Everyone, I've been a little MIA lately and the pictures will show you where I've been spending most of my spare time. This project started off as a Grizzly 1448. We decided to make all the modifications out of aluminum. I don't even want to think of having to tear this thing down to replace any wood. Hope you guys like what we've done so far. More pics coming soon. Trolling Motor Cable Bend
Hello Everyone, My project boat is coming along. This is the first boat that I own that has a foot control trolling motor. I noticed that there is a metal rod that runs from the foot control to the head of the motor. As it sits now on my boat the rod seems to be bending and there's is definetely pressure on it. I'm afraid that if I recess the foot control, I will be adding even more pessure to the cable. Is this OK? Are these motors designed to work with that bend in the cable? One more bit of information. The foot control is sitting at 2 inches from the front panel that has my power plug and switches and that's at a 45 deg angle. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

Wiring Two Batteries
Thank you. I have decided to run them one at a time and switch to the second when the first is running out.
