Huddleston Weedless Shad
Does anyone have a similar bait to the huddleston weedless shad? I enjoy using these baits but they break so easily. I had one fish absolutely destroy the hudd and it wouldnt swim correctly after that. I feel like these tear and rip easily especially in heavy cover or skipping them into cover. Does anyone have a similar bait that they would recommend? Also I recommend these highly but I would buy a few since they do break easily.

Best Used Ranger
The best ranger is a fully paid for ranger IMO. I would much rather have a boat thats paid in full than having to pay off a boat. Honestly I would like something in the 2008 range period because the electronics would be decent enough to deal with until I could upgrade them. I would also make sure that the parts for said boat were readily available. Try finding parts for a 1979 ranger inboard. But on a serious note want a 1979 ranger inboard for $1000?

Frogging Rod Vs Flipping Rod
I throw frogs on a dobyns 735c champion. The rod is sensitive enough for jigs and casts well enough for frogs. Shorter people will not like using the 735c for frogs since it is 7ft 3, especially if you are walking the frog. where I fish I dont feel that a H action is necessary for frogs but this may not apply to you.

Lake Michigan Alabama Rig
Yes. But they dont have that information posted anywhere, also I am fishing in chicago as I edited.

Good Lures For Tough Conditions
Fish a jig different ways and you will probably catch fish. I switch up from fishing it normally to swimming it all the time. Nothing better than setting the hook on a fish with a jig.

Lake Michigan Alabama Rig
I understand the whole 2 pole 2 hook illinois regulation but I cannot find if Lake Michigan is 2 pole 2 hook. The dnr doesnt have anything on their website. I feel like it is ran by a bunch of morons most of the time. Does anyone know what the regulation is ? I want to mess around with an alabama rig in the harbors. FIshing in Chicago **

Costa Sunglasses
Some college tournaments qualify you to receive the one time discount. Also you can win money if you win a tournament wearing costas hence the incentive for them to give us the 50%.

Costa Sunglasses
Will they resist impacts / scratches well. Ive been hit in the face with a crankbait and luckily my glasses deflected the blow. Inever fish without sunglasses on now.

Cheapest Battery For My Needs
Buy the best battery you can afford. Properly maintained batteries can last years. We have several old batteries that would work in a pinch since we maintained them well. Also would you rather buy a new $25 battery each season because it died or spend $90 on something with 3 year + warranty? Honestly you also need to consult a professional. Call a boat shop and be honest, say you have a small boat what battery can I get away with using for the lights and bilge. I wouldnt want to be taking on water with a $25 battery. There are certain things in life that are foolish to be cheap on like batteries, tires, life jackets etc.

Largemouth Bass
The rapala dt series or any similar crankbait. Most likely a dt6 in a small pond. I like to run the bottom with my lures and kick up sand. If a dt4 runs perfect in a pond I will throw a dt6 just to hit the bottom and smack into stumps and other hangups

Spro Bronzeye Stiffness Variation
Play with your frog before you throw it if you think it is too stiff. Once the rubber gets loose it will be fine.

Costa Sunglasses
Im trying to figure out which pair of Costa Sunglasses I am going to buy. I like the frame of the hammerhead but cannot decide on which lens to buy. I fish mostly Illinois waters which have terrible visibility but I also fish some gin clear lakes. I want to be able to use them in both applications year round. These wont be driving sunglasses mainly fishing. Also I have a 50% deal that im using before it expires.

Flippin' And Pitchin' Applications
I would flip more been fishing since I had the perfect cast the first time. Its not a matter of one over the other but rather a simpler approach. With a flip you have the distance figured out correctly and can slide a bait in very slow and slow. I normally flip after I make a pitch if I want to hit a stump multple times.

Fishing A Hollow Body Frog?
Ignore the heavy action rod bit, you can get away with a 7 ft 3 med heavy that will work the bait better and have a solid hookup. If you are not sure how to use the spro baits I can test them out for you . Seriously though tie those spro baits on with a berkley knot and you will never lose them. Skip them into the back of trees and brush piles and you will catch some lunkers. Look up dean rojas frog fishing and watch how he does it.

College Fishing
Honestly never heard of that major unless it is a focused program that gets you started in a career as a fire fighter then it makes sense that more community colleges have it because it is a trade school basically. Also I didnt get my full rides from fishing but for my academics. There are two schools that really care about fishing IMO and that is Bethel and Dallas Baptist, there probably are more but those two care more about fishing than they do any other sport. I know southern illinois gives a $1,000 scholarship to one angler but that honestly will pay for a year of books so it isnt great. Side note, I know a lot of firemen many of which say stay out of the industry. It is a dangerous job and they would much rather be elsewhere if they could. Not trying to kill what you want to do Im just saying know what you are getting in to and make sure it is your passion before you commit yourself to it.

College Fishing
What major is it? I find it hard to believe a community college will have something more than a university, also the university program will be better. Also you can get scholarships from small state schools more than you can large schools. I had near full rides to many small schools so play your cards right when you apply.

What Size Braided Line For Swim Jig?
15lb flurocarbon or even smaller than that. When I throw a swimjig I am not using it the same way I would a big flipping jig. Yes I still will throw a swim jig in to would but I am not worried about it that much that I need to use braid.

How Do You Become Good At A New Technique
Spinnerbaits can out fish crankbaits for entire days at a time. Dont doubt a spinnerbait just because people say it may be off in your area. The bite may change to a crank bait bite but that doesnt mean that a spinnerbait bite cant turn on. Honestly fishing is about versatility and the ability to change on the fly. My best advice leave every other bait at home besides crankbaits. Put your spinning rods away. DO NOT TOUCH THEM. Then once you learn crankbaits put your bait casters away and only take out spinning gear and shakey head lures / worms. Best way to learn is to actually fish the bait

Anti-Reverse Not A Good Thing?
Most reels have instant anti- reverse. As far as I know the lews bb1 does not have instant anti-reverse. I honestly do not know another newer reel that has that but I am sure there are a few.

Recommendations For Rain Gear
Forget the frog toggs go with the columbia pfg bibs / jacket. It is made to get beat up and it has tons of pockets. Honestly it is above your price range but great rain gear is worth it. Columbia also sells cheaper rain gear that works just as well it just isnt geared towards fishing. Simms makes great rainsuits as well. My next jacket (cold weather,, I have the pfg gale warning) http://www.columbia.com/Men%27s-FireStorm%E2%84%A2-Jacket/FM2018,default,pd.html http://www.columbia.com/Men%E2%80%99s-Firestorm%E2%84%A2-Bib/FM8072,default,pd.html Expensive option http://www.columbia.com/Men%E2%80%99s-PFG-Supercell%E2%84%A2-Jacket/FM2015,default,pd.html http://www.columbia.com/Men%E2%80%99s-PFG-Supercell%E2%84%A2-Bib/FM8062,default,pd.html Cheaper option http://www.columbia.com/Men%E2%80%99s-Hydrotech%E2%84%A2-Packable-Rain-Pant/FM8073,default,pd.html http://www.columbia.com/Men%27s-HydroTech-Packable-Rain-Jacket/FM2019,default,pd.html
