Getting A New Rod And Reel Pt2
I would recommend almost any spinning reel with a 7ft medium moderate rod. It will catch you any fish under the sun. The only issue is that casting very light lures will not work without a bobber for bluegill. I find that light or ultralight rods work best for panfish. The best option is to buy a 7ft medium heavy for your bass/carp/cat and then a light action for your bluegill. No need to buy two reels just switch rods. When the times comes buy two reels. You can do almost anything on that rod IMO. Also I dont like ugly sticks I moved past them a long time ago. Look for a special at your local tackle shop. If it costs me $50 for a fenwick and $39.99 for an ugly stick ill buy the fenwick

Kentucky Lake, Big Ten Championship Boaters
Purdue University and the University of Illinois will be hosting the 12th annual Big Ten Classic on Kentucky Lake out of Ken Lake Marina. The Big Ten Classic is the oldest annual tournament in college fishing and anglers from 11 big ten schools from across the Midwest will be competing. Minnesota, Michigan, Michigan State, Indiana, Purdue, Ohio State, Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, Nebraska, and Penn State all will be in attendance ready to tackle Kentucky Lake! The tournament will be held on Sunday, October 27th; with the official practice day being Saturday, October 26th. In the past this was always a 'boater' tournament, meaning the collegiate anglers were able to compete without having a boat of their own. Throughout the years less boaters have stepped up putting more pressure on teams to bring their own boats. This may not be an issue for some teams but for those taking seven hour rides the gas mileage does add up and is completely out of pocket. With that being said, there are still many schools and anglers that are in need of a boater for Saturday and Sunday coming this October. We greatly appreciate the time you will be committing to this tournament and to helping pass on the "fishing gene" to the next generation! Anglers are aware that we will be requiring them to pay their boaters for gas that was exhausted during tournament and practice days. We have also urged they pack a light lunch for their boater and anything other accommodations you may need. The more boaters we have, the more collegiate anglers we will be able to get involved in this storied tournament. Not only will you be helping out a team but you will also witness history as some of the best anglers in college compete in the oldest collegiate tournament. Please consider boating if you have free time the weekend of October 25-27th, again, it will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your time. Please feel free to message me on the board or contact me at fightingillinibassclub@gmail.com with the title ' Big Ten Boater'

How In The World To Catch 17Lbs Bass....twice????
I think it is about mentality too. I dont think he went out there with a tournament mentality or even to catch as many bass as possible. I feel that he had a musky fishing mentality. Meaning that he might go out and not see any big bass or even catch them after a thousand casts the same with musky. I know I dont have the patience for big swimbaits but he shows how they produce big fish. Location matters too though.

Vanish Line
Its sucks because if I need line in a pinch walmart only carries this crap.

Vanish Line
I am fishing a pond with a ton of rip rap. Literally the entire bank is made out of old construction materials. The concrete underwater is covered with algae or what ever it is. I broke off a crankbait casting 10lb vanish when it hooked into a leaf. Upon inspection my line was completely frayed up and down for 5 ft but I got the lure back because it was on the leaf. After that I pulled out new line and retied. Next cast the line snapped as I loaded up the bait to cast. I was wondering if the vanish line is just that susceptible to rocks or it just frays easily. I understand why it snapped after fishing it for awhile but it after I pulled new line out doesnt make sense. Other line I have used never broke so easily. Is this just a bad spool of line or is vanish just that weak?

Daiwa Tatula Review On Tt
It depends on which rod I am using. If I am throwing moving baits I don't like having my finger in front because the worm guide gets annoying and pinches my finger. If I am throwing a jig, t rig etc I will keep my finger in front.

Fall Fishing
Im still hitting fish on crankbaits here so the bite really hasnt turned over much. The fish appear to be eating well but havent really keyed in on the bait as much. Once that happens it is game on.

Daiwa Tatula Review On Tt
If you have big hands they fit perfectly oddly enough. On smaller reels I struggle to find where I should place my hand. On a side note the drag does work perfectly on these reels. Caught a 5.5lb + bass yesterday on it.

Rod Repair
I have a replacement guide. So basically 72hours and it should be good.

Rod Repair
Basically I have a guide on my rod that the insert popped out of. I need a new guide put on. How long would this take someone to do? If you are in the champaign,il area and can do it within a week message me. If someone could chime in on how long it would take that would be great as well.

Daiwa Tatula Review On Tt
Bought two of these reels simply because I wanted to try them out and because I got them for a good price. Honestly they are a bit big and a bit heavy if you are used to lighter reels. They do cast a country mile when you have them properly adjusted. TW only has the 6:3 ratio and in my honest opinion this gear ratio is awful for crankbaits on these reels. I have no idea what it is but this reel just doesnt seem powerful enough for a medium diving bait. Besides that I do love these for throwing spinnerbaits. I am not 100% sure if I regret buying these reels but for the price I do not think that they are a bad reel. Honestly I was sick of my abu reels falling apart on me and wanted a different manufacturer. With Diawa it might be better to spend more money than buying a value reel.

What If A College Angler Wins The Classic?
If you work your butt of in school to make it to a top tier university or any college in the bracket that should be enough to go to the classic. That is years of work in the making, hours of studying and many restless nights. This does not even take into consideration the time we spend fishing tournaments to even make it to our national championship. Tell me the last time KVD, Ike, Swindle, etc had a tournament on saturday/ sunday then an MCB final on monday. College competition has grown rapidly. it is no longer borrowing your dad's tracker but borrowing your uncles triton t21an prefishing for a week before a tournament. It is a ton of work and completely fair if we work this hard. Other than that its like a d3 school wanting to compete in the national championship

Medium To Deep Diving Crank Rod
Looking for a rod that will throw a 3xd to a 6xd. Not looking to spend a ton of money. It will be paired with a revo winch. How are MH rods for crankbaits? Is the moderate action the big difference? I only have fast action and extra fast action mh rods so I havent really been able to test the difference.

The only other lake ive seen big bags come out of is sangchris. The only bad thing about clinton is so much of the lake is cut off.Like the back of houseboat cove.

Central Illinois Bass Spots Close To Champaign
From what I hear its one section of the lake that is doing well. Being that there is a tournament coming up / happened that one spot is beat to crap. It just sounds like it is fishing small. I havent had the best of luck on clinton, where do you fish it. Feel free to pm I want to figure this lake out.

Gen 3 Revo Winch
It makes me weary when they are coming out of the factory like that.

Gen 3 Revo Winch
Is it as good as the gen 2? My gen 3 stx is having some issues at the moment. Pretty sure it just needs oil but a washer could be broken. My gen 2 winch is still in working order so i want a reel that would last.

Cheap Yet Effective Jerkbaits
What are some cheap yet effective jerkbaits? I love using spro mcsticks or a megabass jerkbait when I get the chance but I honestly can't afford to buy a ton of them in different depths, actions and colors. What are some good alternatives?
