  1. Most of the big lakes I fish the shad dont get to big at all and Ive had better luck downsizing my lures as well. In a few small ponds we have had golden roaches growing to absurd sizes and there are a few bass that are thriving on them.
  2. Do you guys fish big swimbaits as if you were fishing for musky? By this I mean do you not expect to get bit at all or make a ton of casts before even getting a bite? I have had more luck with the smaller huddleston baits than I have the big ones and I feel location plays a factor but I also think mentality does as well. I have a few small ponds that I have caught 6+ lb bass in and I want to see if they will key in on these big baits.
  3. Return it if you have any doubts. The gen 3s have had a lot of problems from the factory imo
  4. In warm weather I dont see a need for a save phace. Once it drops into the 40s or we get rain/snow it is the best thing to have. The only other time would be in high winds and rough seas to key the spray off of your face.
  5. Are you sure you only have one place with 24hour access? Most places I know dont advertise it but will give you 24 access if you talk to them.
  6. could you pm me your catalog I lost the one I had before.
  7. Thanks guys I have found the correct color.
  8. versus 5 for $2.59 from barlows tackle.
  9. It is called blue glimmer and it looks like #192. I was told that the skirt color should be that one but I dont want to order $15 worth of the skirts if they arent the ones i want. The skirt is white with black flakes but at certain angles it has a blue flash to it. Please let me know if you know the color i am referring too and if this skirt works. I have a place I can buy it but its $1.00 per skirt which is way over priced. http://www.barlowstackle.com/Solid-2-Color-Silicone-Skirts-P2597C115.aspx
  10. Hopefully Jordan Lee. It would be cool to see a college kid win it.
  11. I use these http://www.seirus.com/tactical-detail/1657/?ltag=tactical-ByTag/gloves/ because they are thin. I want to try using fingerless gloves though.
  12. I use Custom Cast shakey heads if I have them. If I run out or need some in a pinch I will go with the buckeye spot remover because you can find them in most bait shops. The rod and line is more important than the jig itself. When I first started fishing them I was annoyed because I couldnt tell the different between falling and hitting a rock or hitting the bottom. With a sensitive rod I am able to distinguish between the bottom much better and increase my hookup ratio. Also If you plan on fishing deep or fast moving water you should buy some heavy shakey heads. Trying to fish 1/4oz shakey heads on Kentucky lake points with chop is almost impossible.
  13. What is the point of using a black light?
  14. Your school has a club get in contact with them. You are missing out if you are not taking advantage of the club.
  15. If you buy a new boat I would get something with a dealer that is close. I dont care if I love ranger I am not driving 5 hours to service my brand new boat. Lucky enough for me there is a dealer within an hour drive. My buddy has a triton and that is a 100+mile drive.
  16. Why dont you fish the Midwest B.A.S.S. Conference Regional on lake of the ozarks? You would know that if you were on the Nebraska team. I suggest you get in contact with them, those guys are pretty cool. Im going on a family trip so i wont be there this year.
  17. x2 on this. You do need to layer with these but they do keep you very dry and are very well made. I also have the regen rain pant and hydro tech packable jacket. The packable jacket does get very hot so it isnt the best in hot summer months but at least you are dry. I also recommend you buy some boots and break them in. Bibs are great but once your feet are cold you wont want to fish anymore
  18. Spro little john baits are awesome if you are looking for a bait with good hooks out of the box.
  19. **** I was going to tell you to do what my uncle does. Always run an extra wire. Down the road you can use that wire to pull new wire if you want to add something else.
  20. My buddy swears by the red label for budget fluorocarbon so I would do it. Then again 600 yds is a lot.
  21. http://www.animatedknots.com/sandiegojam/ Wet your line.
  22. Someone is selling one on craigslist but I wouldnt be in on that until way down the road. I still need to graduate before I spend money like that. I just want to fish out there with someone that has a valid membership. My uncle used to go when I was really young but hasn't in years.

Ive used a cabelas version of this bag in the past. http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Stalker-Backpack-Tackle-Bag-or-System/product/1304050935/?cmCat=CROSSSELL_PRODUCT Its a great backpack to carry your gear for shore fishing. I used the top to hold the soft plastics I planned to use and kept the rest in my car. If you are going to be on a boat use the other bps bag suggested.
  24. Do any members have guest passes? I havent been able to contact my uncle to see if he still has his membership or someone that could get me in the door. Im just interested in fishing as a guest once or twice over summer.
