Where are all the Illinois Guys ?
We had a tournament on Egypt last year and the ramp was pretty dicey. The owner of the ramp didnt want to salt it or anything because it was brand new. Honestly when it gets that cold it isnt worth it to me. Id much rather take a trip down south to the ozarks or table rock and fish in 30 degree temps and run into some spotted bass than sit in illinois.

Perch
I havent used live bait for bass in about 5 years and I want to do the same with perch fishing. Does anyone have any recommendations for crankbaits, grubs or any other style baits that work for perch. I know how to catch them with live bait but I havnt found a go to artificial lure.

Winter Pool.
Besides the flood preparation it is also for producing electricity. In the winter we use lights more often and thus there is more need for power. Also in the summer you would want to have more water because it evaporates especially during droughts and as stated above when the winter snow melts there will be an increased amount of flooding if the lake is not drained. Sorry if this is scatter brained, it is finals week and my brain has gone to mush.

What Would You Do With A Broken Rod
Pretty cool to hear that it can be fixed this way. Wont be doing it since it was replaced under warranty.

What Would You Do With A Broken Rod
Fenwick warranty no longer requires sending in the rod. The broken one just sits in my apartment collecting dust. Im not going to pay to fix it since I have a replacement already.

What Would You Do With A Broken Rod
It is they dont want the rod back though. So I get to keep the broken one.

Hydro Wave (Electronic Fishing)
In lakes with good shad/bait populations it is unreal when you turn that thing on. It doesnt guarantee you are going to get bit but it does bring the bait up and they do react to it. Now my friend's boat is fully loaded so it wasn't like he bought the hydrowave over an extra gps because he has 4 of them.

Anyone Use Save Phace Mask While Running In The Boat?
I think the paintball masks are vented so I would rather use the sport utility verision. My buddy has about 4 or 5 of them ( one for him one for his dad) and replaces them when they get worn out but doesnt throw them away. The newer versions are better than the old ones from what I can tell.

Zara Spook Tutorial
From my experience spooks tend to have a limited length of travel. Faster twitches of the rod tend to make it swim very fast while long drawn out twitches make a wider pattern. The most devastating thing about a spook is that literally anyone can fish a spook. Unlike a jerkbait the spook is almost idiot proof.

The Green Goob... On My Reels
Magic eraser or rubbing alcohol. I had my reel completely green after a huge algae bloom and it got it completely clean. I reel lubed everything after that as well. Rubbing alcohol is nice because it dries relatively quick as well.

Why You Don't Take Your Hands Off Of The Wheel
Yes he did. After you claim insurance/ pay deductible etc the insurance company takes the boat and attempts to sell it through a salvage company. He knew where the boat was and the name of the salvage company so he found it online and sent it to me because I wanted to see more pictures of the damage.

Why You Don't Take Your Hands Off Of The Wheel
Sorry guys I had a tournament and spent my time researching and doing homework so I didnt fall behind. At the end of september a friend in my collegiate club was headed to a tournament and totaled his van and his boat. On the way down to the tournament around 420am he was about 30minutes away from the lake and knew the exit was coming up. His van is really awkward and doesnt have a spot for his gps and his suction cup mount broke. His coangler had taken a nap but woke back up about 5 minutes before the accident. As they were driving down ( in the rainy conditions, going about 53mph or maybe 63 all I know was it was way too fast for conditions) he decided to check his gps and started to drift left. As he drifted left he tires went off the road. In an attempt to correct this he pulled right and got his van tires back but his trailer didnt come. His van lost control and started to fishtail lose control etc to the right. He went off the other side of the road in between the off ramp and the ditch. The trailer basically jackknifed and the boat was ejected and skidded probably 50yards in the grass. As this was going on the slammed into the exit sign and almost smashed into a concrete pipe. From what he said they both would have been hurt really bad if they hit the pipe. It really sucked getting a call at 426am that they were in a ditch but it was better than finding out they both were in the hospital or something.

Heated Jacket/pants
It doesnt matter how warm the jacket is if it isnt that waterproof. I dont know how carhartt jackets hold up to water but that is my #1 concern. It is a delicate balance of staying dry, not sweating and staying warm.

How Long Will You Wait In One Spot Fishing To Get Bass ?
I have a love hate relationship with electronics. Nothing is better than finding bait and running into a big school of bass or finding cover holding a ton of bass. The worst is marking all of those fish and none of them will bite.

From The Back Of The Boat.......
Pre-Fishing: Experience- Let your boater tell you what to do. If he tells you what to do ignore everything else I am about to write. He knows the water better than me and you. The experienced angler can run his own boat. He should know what he wants you to do. You are a pawn to him basically. Your job is to test things out for him so he can see what does and doesnt work. If my boater can out fish me on a particular lure I wont throw it. Ill do something different, always be different in the back pre fishing. If he starts catching a ton of fish on a jig it helps to know they arent biting a spinnerbait. Pay attention to color. If black and blue is hitting change your lure to reflect his color but dont use the same lure. 2. It doesnt help to throw a drop shot when he is power fishing. You dont have time to work the lure properly so dont bother. If it take to much time per cast don't do it if he is running fast. 3. Learn how to pitch crankbaits in to cover and fish them out If the fish are coming off of wood throw a squarebill or something that will bang around Color Don't throw the same color until he gets bit a few time on his. It doesnt help to always throw the same color but it helps to know that black and blue works on almost every lure you throw. When he finds a color that works remember it. Ex. If you get bit on black and blue try the same on a spinnerbait like I said above. If you get bit on the black and blue on almost everything you throw then start to switch it up again. it really is a back and fourth thing. Once you know you can get bit on that color almost everywhere put that lure away or switch up the color to find a backup pattern. Kind of a half ass response but it might help a little bit.

New Rod Advice
The blank is what makes or breaks a rod in my opinion. If I get a cheap POS rod the blank is going to suck and it is going to be stiff. The MH might feel like a H and the action might suck. I believe you are looking for a h or mh with and extra fast tip. I dont punch that often but normally that is what I use.

New Rod Advice
I punch a lot lighter stuff up north so I can get away with using a mh rod. If I was down south in very heavy grass I would use something heavier to get the bass out. That being said I caught a 10lb asian carp and a 20lb+ asian carp on my dobyns 735c and had the full weight of the fish on my rod and it didnt snap.

What Would You Do With A Broken Rod
I have a rod that is broken right above the reel seat and just below the hook keeper. It is basically the same thing reels at BPS are mounted to. I have the top section of the rod as well. I am trying to figure out what I can use this thing for besides sitting around in the corner. Let me know if you have any ideas or use for it. Fenwick Aetos 7ft m 1 piece ( lol jk its now a two piece thanks to me )

Where are all the Illinois Guys ?
I fished that lake every week all summer for the camp I worked at. Caught tons of bass using spincast reels because I didnt bring my gear. There are some HUGE bass in this lake. I lost a 5+ and was sight fishing a 6-7lb bass. I had a 3lb bass completely destroy a spincast reel which was pretty funny, partly why i lost the 5 was because the drag broke. Drag a jig infront of the silver pipe to the right of the picnic benches and also next to the tree north of the pipe on the south west lake. I saw someone doing well on big ribbon tail worms but this time of the year i would throw a jig or maybe even a spinnerbait there.

Are These Reels Any Good?
Which KVD reel? I have no idea what one you are talking about. The rods are pretty decent in my opinion. I got two crankbaits rods for fairly cheap so i dont mind them. If I were to have paid the retail price of $150 I would be disappointed. The blanks themselves are very big I could probably fit two fenwick m action rod blanks inside one of the rods. If abu puts a fuji reel seat on their rods i might buy one, other than that fenwick all the way.
