Favorite Smallmouth bass rivers that you can share?
Don’t over look parts of the Delaware River.

River Ott (er)
River crested about 10:00 this am. Major flood stage is 13 feet. Went 7.2 feet over flood stage. Water has not been this high in my life time. I’ve seen close but not this high. Folks from Reading to Philly lost a lot. Will be interesting for awhile. Heard one of the dams near one of the boat ramps broke. My source in that is not real good. The couple of ramps I use my be destroyed. Time will tell.

I hate the weatherman
I’d have to see it to believe it. Sounds a little over the top. Buddy said he got a message from his township. Twp. for the most part can’t even put out the calendar of events for the upcoming month let alone put out a warning. Tomorrow morning will tell.

I hate the weatherman
Word on the street is, certain section of the river I fish near home are suppose to be 7 feet above flood stage. Flood stage is 13 feet. I guess I won’t be chasing Smallies around real soon. Mother Nature works in crazy ways. Shame Cali can’t get some of that to put fires out.

Chug bug
Might be nice to land a hand full of old originals. But the ones now that can be had at TW or a BPS will work just fine. The EBay vintage one for $20 may or may not catch more fish. For the same $20 you can go buy 3 new ones.

I hate the weatherman
Our local news is pretty accurate, people who do it are educated and come off professionally. Not just look good in a dress or suits. It’s like the 50% thing. 50% chance of heavy showers in the early am. Well I’m going because there is that other 50% that I’m staying dry and I’ll take that chance. If I’m already out on the water and a big rain event moves in for awhile I duck up under a bridge and anchor up there for awhile. All the more reason to fish bridge piling for awhile. I’m not a big fan of getting soaked before I’m in the water or before my first cast. My home fishing areas of the river are gonna take a pounding and flooding big time with this remains of the hurricane. Rains moved in this morning. News was covering how water rescue teams were prepared. Than they always put on a few of the rich folks who live on the river gripe about how much water damage they are gonna have. I’m pretty sure a dock or two will become new fish structure. But I’m not gonna make light of these situation. You guys through the south have taken poundings worse than I will most likely ever see. My fear is winds. I’m up high enough were floods may not become big issues. Winds can. But the river and lake will settle down and get back to normal. I find it hard to really complain too much when other fisherman on here may have been devastated by local events.

River Ott (er)
I come down there and I’ll find out what a real river is for sure.

River Ott (er)
Same here expect no major damage but creeks and rivers will be swollen. As much as I’d like to live on the river, I’m glad I don’t. Too many flash floods these day. They’ve been pretty accurate around here all summer. Did have a few local tornadoes. That keeps local news on their toes. These days it seems like fair game no matter where you live to get rocked with severe weather. Stay safe, good fishing.

River Ott (er)
Are you guys getting hammered with rain now? See it hooked your way. Be safe, Stay safe. Wenesday we are gonna get a real soaking. Saturday we got clobbered. I won’t be on the river until after the holiday now. No biggie, lake it. But now is generally a good river bite. Now till October.

Chug bug
Great river bait. I’m a fan.

Favorite Crankbait Color
I’m a bit old school. Many many basic and simple patterns from Bomber, Rebel, Mann’s, Rapala, Heddon, Bandit, Storm and Norman can’t be had anymore. Stuff that was long time proven. Like anything in business, keep current, provide guys what they want or get buried. But I’ve been successfully fishing newer CB manufacturers like 6th Sense, Lucky Craft, and Spro for quite some time now. Confidence and taking the dareing chance to fish some nasty cover with them is needed. Gotta Feel good and having confidence in what you picked out to throw. Or your just chucking and winding. Reaction bait so it should get bit eventually but I guess odds will go up if you believe in it. I think back in the day pros use to call them idiots baits and would say anyone could fish them.

Favorite Crankbait Color
I’m one who fished crankbaits a lot. A river rat who finds cranking river Smallies to be a productive way. I have to believe there are many guys who CB fish that fish various patterns and has numerous favorites. I don’t want to say color means nothing. It must to some degree. But crankbaits are a bait that draws reactionary strikes. I fish a wide variety of colors. Gizzard Shads and Herrings will generally catch me fish. I fish a few bluegills as well. I use to fish firetiger a lot. Great pattern for on the river. Two very productive patterns are a solid black and a solid olive green. Too many favorites.

Rod for Topwater like a bullet pop, chug bug
May have been a tough day for you. It happens sometimes. But I like a tip a little softer for Topwater baits for river Smallies. XF is great action for soft plastic bottom baits. Some fast tips I own seem to be a bit too fast. Everyone has their own special feel. I only use mono for the most part.

Do you have a ritual or lucky charm when fishing?
I can’t say I have any rituals or superstitions. I get myself prepared prior to leaving the hoses. Have things where they belong and all. I’m pretty anal about making noise on a boat deck. Just how I am. But like you if I have my grandsons with me they are casting a time or two before my line ever hits the water. I generally fish myself so I’m all about them when I get them out. I’ve had friends and some aquatintences over the years ask me to take them out. I believe it is mostly because they were wondering why I’m so intrigued and hung up with this bass fishing. And them getting out doing something different. I don’t think any of them caught a bass prior to me taking them out. During these time I’d cast very little, made it more about them.

Trophy Brook Trout Tactics
Very well put. I’m in the same situation in PA right now. In October/November I’ll start to hunt some trout again. Most native Brooke trout I catch are not that big. Hold over wild ones cans get some size. I’m a bit of a fly fishing hack. Not really refined and have a lot of bad habits but give it heck fishing nymphs and scuds. Spinning I prefer Panther Martins and small cast masters.

River Smallies & Frogging ?
Most likely gonna get another good shot of rain later today through tomorrow. River will probably be off limits. Unfishable to me. Lake fish Sunday. I like it there. Forces me to fish a bit different. River fishing is deeper in my soul.

August no fish day in our bay & surrounding area.
I don’t think I would be overly enthused by catching 5” Smallies for hours but that might tell me to fish deeper. Holding tighter to the bank most times will produce the smaller Smallies. Try to find a nice drop off. Maybe crank right down to it or slide some plastics down to it.

Net woes
I use a similar Frabill. It happens to me also. I mainly have the net when I have my grandsons with me. I generally am not grabbing for it. But than again I’m not catching a lot of 5-8 lb. Bass.

August no fish day in our bay & surrounding area.
Nice vid. I intend to get there. I’ll do my darn best to hunt them down and find them. Try to get them to bite. I think what I use here at home will get bit there also.

YUM crawbug
I can’t find much YUM on a local scale. What few YUM soft plastics I have used has worked well. Smaller Dingers and the Swim Dinger I bite off and use as a trailer on some jigs and buzzbaits. I’ve written off every Wally World, DICKS and tackle shop in my area to have what I want. Maybe online? I go like their Garlic scent masking spray.

Z man pricing - Went from best deal going to one of the worst (in some situations)
I’ve never jumped in with both feet with Z Man. Big product line but I can’t find it on a local scale to see it and buy it. I’ve had success fishing the TRD Craws and the Baby Goats with and without using their NED Style jig heads. I have other baits I’d grab first. But not knocking them. Seem popular on here.

Sounds like a waste land, what the heck is going on up there?

Bass Fishing Korean Style!
Pretty gal, built like a brick hose. Did get that out of the video.
