As some else posted, where the heck do you live? DB’s everywhere. That’s why I don’t leave my stuff any where. Here in Pennsy you can leave your boat at certain state parks, not for me. It’s going home.

Great, don’t quit or give up. I remember your post. It’s fishing. Just try to reason with bad days. Try to even learn something or try something new on those days. Give something a try that you have not used in awhile. I try to maintain a level head during a real bad bite. It’s not easy. I’ve had many many dink days. I’ll take them. On a lot of those dink day others were skunked. Many of days I’ve fished to just not get skunked. I would say a lure that has kept me from getting skunked over all the years the most has been a Rat-L-Trap. Fishing and “the bite” are two different things. Fishing we can control. “The bite” not so easy from our end.

TW, *** and BPS is where I mostly order from, in that order. Between having to work some Saturdays through the winter, getting a major sinus infection and all this CV-19 bs going around now I picked up anything I needed to replenish and wanted to try different, I did it thru the mail. Was real reluctant to buy that Shimano Reel sight unseen and un-touched first but it seem great, will have it out soon. Never really had much in the way of Shimano issues and if I did they just replaced it. Should have some line arriving. Good luck, hope you make out ok with your terminal tackle. That’s hard to find on sale a lot. Berkley has a bunch of hooks for soft plastics on sale. They are a bit too heavy for my liking even the ones that are not flipping style, but they are good hooks. I fish mostly Gammy, Owner and have always done well with the True-Turns. 80’s old school in me.

When deer hunting upstate I do use a rifle (.243, .270). I’ve taken many deer closer to home because I live in a shotgun area only with smooth bore 870/1100 Remmies using OO Buck and Foster Style Slugs. I’ve been using the Sabot Style Slugs for a long time now through the full rifled Remmy barrel. A lot better accuracy with the Sabots. Don’t ever underestimate the power of a 12 or 20 ga. slug. Don’t underestimate the power of buckshot while hunting deer. There is a place for both.

I think it is associated with the fact that I never really fished all that heavy over the years. My bass fishing has always been spinning gear for the most part. Medium and medium lite. I’ve finessed fished long before the term finesse was being used. River Smallies fishing my idea of a jig has been hair jigs and grub fishing. Mother Nature has taken its toll on the river over the last handful of years. I’ve since made two lakes my home waters. Since I’ve stepped up some of my gear and lure sizes. Has taken me 40 years to get comfortable with using a baitcaster even though I’ve used one for years.

Dude are you able to get on the water? My local lakes are shut down right now.. Hook or crook I'll get on the river somehow. I'll pay someone to let me use their slip if it gets to that.

Shimano Stradic. My kids helped me get it at a good price they know an employee who helped them. Every bit helps they want $230 msrp. Those DT’s are great baits. My biggest (PB) and nicest river Smallies have come off of Rapala Baits. I do fish a couple of other brands. Have gotten some nice fish on Bombers, Bandits and Strike Kings but Rappys have caught my more quality fish. Favorite fall bait along with a Cordell Big O’s.

I’m afraid of big baits. There are a lot of good smaller sized jigs out there. I really only fish the Strike Kings with smaller trailers. Mostly Berkley PowerBait types. Over the winter I did pick up a few of the Ike micro Missile jigs to try this season. I did use the LiveTarget jig craw for the first time this past season. Caught a few fish. Had a few really big hits. I perceive this fish to be much bigger than the one I’d gotten. Possibly Muskies ? I plan to stick with this setup also this season.

I hear ya bub on that. I’ve had some stuff trickle in over the last few days myself. Not trying much New or different this year. Replenished some of my soft plastics. Ordered doubles and triples of some of my more productive crankbaits. Picked up on a few new color patterns that I feel great about. I am waiting on some mono and flouro to arrive but I’m not in desperate need of line. I change my line way too often anyway. I’m anal. New Shimano reel came in for my new St Croix 6’3” Avid last week. Trying a new drop shot hook this season. Gonna try two different sizes of that VMC that has the built is swivel to it. May or may not work better. Gonna try it. I’m amped up on trying a few new bluegill type patterns if gotten in. Not real image baits just cranks that have bluegill and pumpkinseed sunfish colors through them. Those type of colors are endless but I feel good about the ones I’ve picked up.

Shame we don’t know each other or live close because I have some various diameter coated thinner wire ropes that you crimp heavy duty furrels and eyes on and can make a custom cable lock with. It can’t be cut with a scissors or wire dike. But here’s my thought, if you try to lock or secure the reels I can see making that happening. But the reels are secured to the rod by only a cheap seat. And if you try to utilize the rod eyes as soon as a thief gets frustrated he’ll yank and pull the combos and surely destroy them. I think I’d go the route of having two piece set ups and when the car is parked have them in the floor and cover them with a black piece of carpet so that they don’t draw attention. You can get creative as to how you cut it and someone would never be able to tell. Don’t trust anybody. Especially these day. It would be one thing if a guy stole your $225 combo and went fishing with it, that’s not the case. He’ll steal your $225 combo and sell it for $10 or $15 dollars. That’s the kicker.

I wouldn’t but it past anyone to steal the fishing rods if breaking into the car. $3.00 in loose change in console and grab the rods will most likely happen. They’ll take them to the river and sell them for peanuts to the lowlife that hang down there.

Two that are like my home waters these days are. But no harm I guess I’ll fish the river until some changes happen. I really don’t understand the closing down of fishing these lakes. Where is any threat in that. I must be dense because I can’t see any logical reason.

Delaware, Susquehanna River. Bunch of farm ponds to fish. Ask owners and you will most likely be granted permission.

Thought you might want to check the Booyah site. See the Booyah Flex II Squarebill. Decent video there on size, shape and construction of this squarebill. Probably a bit hyped up, not the squarebill being sold at BPS sale but appears to be another Booyah quality bait. I see the BR has done an article on these as well.

I see it also and have been fishing chromed silver and gold hard baits for years. Some of the new chromed baits look good and I find them pretty productive. I have more than enough Rat-L-Traps, happen to be a big fan, they flat out catch fish. Chrome w/ black back, Chrome w/ blue back, Chrome w/ chartreuse, Gold w/ black back and Red Chrome happen to be my favorites. There are other new chrome patterns they put out that I'm finding work equally as well.

Yep don’t over look the Strike King stuff. They carry a big selection of down sized spinnerbaits and buzzbaits. I fish baits on the smaller size. The selection is pretty good.

I will hit Wawa every work day Morning until I get sick. Truck pulls in automatically.

I hear that. Grandsons rec league is on hold. But this will lighten up. Those boys are a treat to take to the Majors and Minor league games. They'll get the season in. I'm gonna be optimistic about it. Gonna just roll with keeping a little distance and try not to let my guard down. Maybe the lifestyle change for a couple of weeks will be good.

The county I live in here in Penna. has the most cases. My wife and I are doing ok. My two daughters have families and everyone there is fine. School districts are closed for two weeks for their kids. Same county. We are not preppers for the most part but sort of seen it coming over the last couple of weeks and stocked up on essential stuff. Unless it takes a big turn for the worse life will be pretty simple and straight forward for a few weeks. Leave for work > stop for gas or coffee (or both) > get to work, leave work > stop at grocery if necessary > head home. Will connect with my family but not go to any Large gatherings. I shoot a lot of sporting clays and trap also but will cut it back for a few weeks. Pretty sure we will survive. Never know. I do not have to deal with mass transit or big numbers of people at work. But I guess that doesn’t mean a real lot in full scheme of things. You guys be safe. I’ll be on the water soon and a virus is not gonna stop me. On the river or in the lake is probably the safest place to be.

Good post. 3 1/2”, 4” - 5” for me also. Majority of time T-rig. But do Wacky Style. Weightless pitch the 3 1/2” up under overhanging trees, along edge of grass and in holes in Lilly Pads. I know the Senko thing is very popular but not my first choice to pick up. But I've had days where it seemed like that’s all I was fishing all day.

I was the same way. I had a tough time with that color on the river. Should not have. Mother Nature has hurt me on the river the last few years and my new home is a lake recently. Green Pumpkin kicks butt there. Go figure.

Don’t over think the rod length thing. But a longer rod length will Get more line off the water quicker in your hook set.

Good deal. Go beyond your comfort zone. Think outside of the box some. Don’t forget the good old rubber worms. A lot of variations, force yourself to fish slow.
