  1. Under certain applications I have less success (fewer bites) when I find myself intermittently using my trolling motor.
  2. A good reasonably priced sinking braided line that I could use with jigs and t-rigged plastics.
  3. I avoid braid with crankbaits and traps. Mono for traps and mono for crankbaits unless I am fishing deep and need the extra depth I can get with fluoro.
  4. I have seen the basic "characteristic differences" between braid, fluoro and mono. Can someone explain the unique characteristics associated with P-Line copolymers or Mean Green? (i.e. stretch, line management, buoyancy, knot holding, etc.) Thanks.
  5. I have a couple Curado Es and three Tatulas that I love.
  6. To answer your question, I have two - a pitching rod and a MH cranking rod. Both are a bit heavy, but otherwise good rods. I like the cranking rod for my heavier deep-running baits. Like most, I got both on sale for a bit over $50.
  7. Alberto and Albright are probably better knots, but I found the uni to uni easy to learn and I have used it several years without a problem.
  8. Your line management will be much better with 10 lb or 15 lb braid, and use fleuro or mono leaders when the situation warrants it. If fishing jigs/plastics deeper than 20 ft, I would go to straight fleuro.
  9. Should be fine. I fish shakey head jigs with 5" stick worms often, using baitcasters, fleurocarbon line and 6'6" to 7' M or MH rods most of the time.
  10. Agree with earlier posters - Tiny Torpedo, smaller Jitterbug, and the Zara Puppy.
  11. Croc-O-Gator makes a buzzbait called a Head Knocker that is well made and very effective. This is my favorite. I prefer black with gold blade. Cavitrons run well and have a good sound. Also, the Strike King Bleeding Elite buzzbait runs well and gets good hookups.
  12. I don't like to use braid with crankbaits. For spinnerbaits, chatterbaits and buzzbaits braided line is excellent in my opinion.
  13. Jitterbug - extremely effective and a whole lot of fun.
  14. I have used a variety of hooks, including circle hooks, and find that a 1/0 octopus hook is ideal.
  15. "little success" translates to continuing glare and inability to see under water better than with the naked eye.
  16. In need of some advice. I wear prescription glasses and would like to find a reasonably priced pair of "clip on" lenses that effectively cut through surface glare. I have tried a few with little success. Any suggestions? Thanks.
  17. I fish Lake of the Ozarks regularly, but on summer weekends it is all but impossible to fish between 9:00 am and 7:00 pm.
  18. In the truck, I am a product of the 60's - Doors, Led Zep, etc. While on the boat I never listen to music. Too busy talking to myself.
  19. When I began using braid to fluoro or braid to mono I got impatient with learning some of the tougher knots. I ended up going with the uni to uni (a couple years ago). Easy to learn and hard to tie a bad one. Holds up extremely well.
  20. Treated myself to 3 Daiwa Tatulas. Unlike many, I do like the Veritas rods. Will probably pick up a couple during the BPS rod trade-in sale.
  21. I have an older 6' Lew's Speed Stick that I use for throwing chatter baits, buzz baits and spooks around docks.
  22. 15 lb hi vis Power Pro and fluoro leader and wide gap finesse hook.
  23. It is fairly rare, but every so many years a reel comes along that even surprises the manufacturer. Once serious fishermen get their hands on it and the reputation is attained, the manufacturer realized that "actual value" was much higher than their initial price point. I think that is what happened in the case of the Curado E series. At the time, an outstanding reel at a great price. The Curados remain a fine reel, but now seem to be more in line with actual prices. On a smaller scale I think this phenomenon is occurring with the BPS Pro Qualifier which is one of the best reels for the dollar. IMO
  24. First experience with any of the fantasy sports, but even for an old geez like me it has been fun. I have: Evers, Defoe, Palaniuk, Morganthaler, and Carden. Turning out to be good picks. After two rounds, ranked 152 (99.3 percentile). I am familiar with several of these guys from watching Major League Fishing. Tomorrow will be very interesting!
  25. I have a place at Lake of the Ozarks, where the owner of the company lives and guides. He is a very well respected fisherman and lure designer/distributor. His jigs and buzz baits are well made, reasonably priced and are "go to" baits by many of the tournament and club bass anglers at and around Lake of the Ozarks.
