  1. I am planning to use 20# braid for my spinning reels. I want to use a fluro leader. I am wondering what # fluro line most of you match to 20# braid for spinning gear. Keep in mind, I will be using this set-up for T-Rigged worms, wacky rig or similar finesse style fishing. Thanks for any help.
  2. Has anyone used the new BPS 8 Advanced braid? If so, how did it perform? Would you recommend it? Is it a good alternative to Suffix 832? Thanks to anyone who can help.
  3. I have 2 carbonlite rods and love them. They are very sensative and have held up well. I hope this helps.
  4. Has anyone tried Spiderwire Invisbraid? If so, what are your thoughts of it? Is it a good product? Worth the price? If anyone has tried it please let me know what you think. Thanks.
  5. I am going down to visit family in the Daytona beach/Port Orange area in early Feb. I have never fished this area before, and was looking for some good shore fishing areas to hit while I'm there. Also, what type of baits would be most productive in the area at this time of year. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  6. I fished a tournament on Manchaug on Saturday. The fishing was pretty good. The weed lines were the only places that where producing bass. You had to get it right in the weeds and let it sit for a few seconds give a twitch and a slow horizontal drag to get the bass to bite. All of the bass I caught were on wacky rigged worms. Nothing else I tried would get a bite. However, I know a few guys caught bass using tubes with the same technique as wacky. Anyone going their should give the weed lines near the islands a try. Those weed lines were pretty active.
  7. I have a few staple colors I stick with no matter what type of soft plastic I am throwing. -green pumpkin -black/blue flake -junebug -watermelonseed -watermelon/red flake I find that these have been the best producing colors for the lakes I fish here in the Northeast. However, on a few ponds I have found that Mardi Gras works well. Also, at this time of year I will start to throw a fluke, or senko/yum dinger in baby bass.
  8. Thanks for the info. I was on Long Pond yesterday. I don't know when the last time you went to Long Pond, but they must have put weed kill in it lately. The vegetation was scarce and most of what you would pull up was thin and black. I fished a tournament yesterday and did OK. I caught a few nice keepers, but most of what I caught were largemouth that were just short of 12". Most of my bass were caught wacky rigging on the jig head Rhino posted earlier. However, I did catch some fish with a Texas rigged worm. Again, I want to say thanks for the report on Long Pond it was helpful in the making of a good fishing trip.
  9. Rhino, One thing I forgot to ask is what size jig (1/16, 3/32, or 1/8) do you use for that rig? Again, thanks.
  10. Rhino, Thanks. I am talking about the Long Pond in Lakeville. I appreciate the warning about the rock piles in the middle of the lake. I would hate to hit something like that while cruising along. I think I will give that rig a try; when I do I will let you know how it worked out for me. Anyone else who has been fishing their lately who could help out please do I appreciate the help.
  11. Nice catch. What did that one weight? I like the rig, too. What technique do you use when you fish that rig? Also, has anyone been to Long Pond lately? I have never fished their, but I hear good things and I was wondering if anyone could help with some info about the lake. Thanks.
  12. Thanks, Gramps and Rhino. I fished Cochicuate yesterday and had a real good day. I caught my 5 fish limit and 6-7 short bass. I ended up fishing all 3 sections, but spent most of the time in the Northern and middle sections of the lake. I have to say the weed lines were the key in middle lake and, in the Northern section, I found focusing on the shade and downed tree worked well. Did the DEP use weed kill in the northern section recently? The weeds were almost nonexcistant in that part of the lake. Thanks again, you guys have a nice fishery in that lake. I just wish some of the big ones had been biting yesterday.
  13. Guys, Thanks for the info on Cochituate. I forgot to ask; are there alot of lily pads, or is the cover mostly milfoil, etc.? Thanks.
  14. Grampa I want to thank you for your help with Whitehall. I had a decent day, but some off the guys had real good days. One of the guys caught a nice 5 lbs. The guy I was with lost one at the boat that was right around that 5lbs mark, as well. Again I want to thank you . I will be up in the area this weeknd again. I am fishing at Cochituate. I have never been to this lake. Has anyone been their lately? Any help would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.
  15. Jigg, I fished a tournament on S. Watuppa on Sunday and found many fish near the shore and around docks, rocks and other shoreline cover. Actually, most boats in the 20 boat field were employing the same tactic. However, the week before I fished Stafford Pond in Tiverton, RI and found bass holding in 20-25 ft. As things go in bass fishin, alot depends on the lake, weather and other factors of the day we decide to fish. I will agree with the frog bite from grampa. I have been using a frog at any time of day with alot of succes this year. This weekend I am heading to Whitehall. Has anyone been fishing their lately?
  16. Has anyone been fishing S. Watuppa? I am looking to make a trip their soon and was wondering if anyone has been catching much their. If so, what has been working? Thanks for the help.
  17. I like to use Smelly Jelly in both Crawfish or Shad, depending on the soft plastic I am using. I am like many others who have responed in saying; I don't think it will attarct more fish, but when they bite I believe they do tend to hold on longer.
  18. I have not been drop shoting for long. And I was wondering, what are some of best/favorite soft plastics people have been using? Thanks for any help.
  19. I will be fishing Wordens this Sunday. I have not fished there in about 3 years. I am wondering if anyone has fished this pond lately? And how has it benn fishing? Any info on what lures the bass are hitting and what area's are best to fish will be helpful and much appreciated. Thank you in advanced to anyone who can help.
  20. I am going to be in the John's Pond area soon and was wondering if anyone knew what the fishing is like on the pond? If anyone can help thanks.
  21. I have a question for anyone who uses these or similiar type baits? What do you think is the best way to fish it? By this I mean with/with out a sinker? On a keel wieghted hook? All replies are greatly appreciated. Thanks for any help you can offer.
  22. I grew up on Johnson's, but have not fished it in years. Anyone know how the bass fishing has been lately? I am looking to go fishing their soon, so any help would be great. Also, if anyone's been lately, do know if the bass are pre-spawn, spawn or post? Thanks.
  23. I will be fishing this lake in the middle of April. I have never fished it before. I don't know if I will get a chance to prefish the lake or not. If anyone can help with some first first hand knowledge of the lake I would greatly appreciate any help. Thank you in advance.
  24. I forgot to add that it is a skirtless Chompers stand-up jig. Thanks guys.
  25. I am going to start using jigs this season and just bought some stand up jigs. I plan to use a Berkely Havoc pit boss as a trailer. My question is should I T-rig the trailer or not? If anyone use this combo or has any ideas I would appreciate the advice. Thanks.
