  1. If I was there I would go. But for now I will take a rain check. Good luck and be safe.
  2. Isn't Lake Meade really clear? If so, what are your thoughts on your baits? Over on the east coast we would throw a glimmer blue Zoom plastic worm Texas or wacky rigged. What say you?
  3. This time of the year are you ice fishing or watching reruns of the Indy 500? Used to go to the 500 and I will admit that it is the greatest spectacle in racing. Lots of great memories.
  4. I will be fishing the Disney ponds the first week of February with my son and his family on a pontoon boat. Wife will stay in the apartment. Also planning to fish from the bank with rented rods and reels. Can't wait.
  5. I think J.T. Bagwell posted a great post on getting sponsors on the Forum. Try to "search" it out. Difficult to get sponsors but keep trying. Remember, you have to prove to them that by sponsoring you they can expect a jump in their sales.
  6. Trolling motor, only tournament for guys with bass boats. Using the same bait, only, for pond fishing, such as only using a Zoom green pumpkin trick worm on a shaky head. Both can grate on your nerves.
  7. X2. Great racket. Wish I had thought of it. Go with the Hook to be up to date.
  8. Lots of great rods out there but really too many to discuss. Do some research and try to find a graphite rod for different techniques so you don't have to overload yourself when fishing.
  9. I think the best catch you will ever have is the one you are living with. If my wife did that for me I think I would have a heart attack. Your wife is a very special person so treat her well. Take out to an expensive place for dinner - like the airport!
  10. Keep looking and don't be in a rush. Big investment and the motor is the most important item on the boat. Have a certified Mercury dealership check out the motor for you.
  11. Ibis, check out the list of bass fishing clubs in the links section at the top of the Forum page. You can also approach the FLW and BASS New York chapters for information and guidance. Good luck. Have fun in the snow!
  12. Only when taking kids fishing as they have such a short attention frame line.
  13. Small one-inch white grub on a 1/62nd jig head on 6-pound or less) test thrown into the rocks and letting the current bring it back. Vicious strikes. Second best is a black and blue Bitsy Jig thrown all over the place on 8-pound (6 if you can get away with it) fluorocarbon line.

Glad you joined us. Ask your questions and we will do our best to provide answers.
  15. Worm Man, please go to the introduction section and introduce yourself and let us have a base line of your bass fishing knowledge. The bass is the most studied animal on the planet and we still don't know squat about the fish. But we are learning. The best experience is on the water. From bank fishing to hitting the Great Lakes and in-between we can help you with our input and guidance. May I suggest you start by reading the articles on this Forum (check out the topo of the page) and then go from there? Good luck and be safe in the snow.
  16. I have a blast with these callers. Last night I received a call from a local hospital that was started by nuns. Best hospitals in the greater Richmond geographical area. They are like high class hotels. Fantastic care by outstanding nursing staffs. But I am not going to donate so I told the lady on the other end of the line that the nuns run a tight ship. This took her back, and then I said I bet those nuns were like the singing nuns on TV. And after the singing nuns' gig was up they went to the Sound of Music. Silence on the other end. Then the lady, who was as nice as she could be, said "do you want to be taken off our call list?" And I replied "yes" and she thanked me and hung up. My philosophy is that if an unknown person is calling asking for money they are open targets. I cannot tell l you guys what I say to males who make these calls. They get very upset, cuss me out and then hang up. But I do have lots of fun with them before they hang up and wish I had more males callers asking for money, etc.
  17. And Tander, what about the cost of those cow bells that you ring after every birdie? When you wear them out you need to get more and more and more and more, etc.
  18. Try golf if you want a rich man's sport.
  19. The best crawfish color of all time, with no debate, is bright red. The color of the mudbug when they come out of the boiling water and are thrown on the table for dinner. Yummy! P.S. Add an Abita Purple Haze or a Barq's (It's Good) and you are in pig heaven.
  20. Check with Mr. Bagwell. Look him up and ask him.
  21. EVENING UPDATE & START TIMES important formation-- for central and eastern VA into southern MD and into DELMARVA there are TWO PARTS to this event FRIDAY/ FRI NIGHT then BREAK ...then on comes the 2nd part from Saturday 11am to Sunday 3am BUT 1ST here is new 18z HIGH RESOLUTION GFS ENSEMBLE mean snowfall map-- it is STAGGERING !!
  22. The bass pros on TV when they hawk their sponsor's products and try to make it look like you really need what they are selling while trying not to make you believe you really need it. The Strickers of Hook N Look are some of the worse. The Strickers are so ahead of other bass educational programs that it is worth the money to buy their DVDs and watch them over and over. Excellent productions filled with so much information about the habits of the bass family. But they have to promote their sponsors' products in every show. Yes, they try to balance their scientific photography and studies as educational while keeping their sponsors happy. This is not an easy task. They do it to perfection more times than not. I realize the sponsors pay for their productions. But why not have a few shows that are 100% objective regarding the life of a bass or a type of bait or technique while not trying to sell directly or sublimely a fishing product? So my vote goes to the Hook N Look show over Ike, KVD and Bill Dance.
