We stayed in a B&B for a friend's son's wedding and had a wonderful time. Fun shops and good resturants. And the people were friendly, too. Should be a fun first quarter.

Can't wait. There are some good early season games, too. With Georgia going 7-5 so far (7 arrests and 5 suspensions) and no seasoned backups to their first stringers, it will be interersting to see how the Dawgs do with their brutal schedule. And the Ole Ball Coach owes Miles and the LSU Fighting Tigers one for making him look like a fool in Baton Rouge last year. I still laugh when I think of that beautiful fake field goal that resulted in a touchdown. As for the Bama boys, anything other than a 13-0 season; a berth in the BCS Championship game; and winning the National Championsip will result in another disastrous season. So Bamb Boys, get ready for another disastrous season. Now those Buckeyes, the early contest against Southern Cal will put either team in the driver's seat for the BCS title game. I know the Buckeyes need the win to prove that they are National Championship calibur. But if they play another SEC team they could be 0-3 and the joke of the NCAA. As for Tulane, I hope the Green Wennies show up for their games. And remember, the biggest play in the history of Ole Miss football and Eli falls on his ***. ;D

No, that's not true. I use a Palamor knot for mono, flourocarbon and braid on all hook setups and baits, even topwaters and spinnerbaits. Great knot and easy to tie.

I get organized during the winter months. Right now everything is a disaster, which can be frustrating when you know you have a specific item but can't find it. I now use a seven (7) draw pine chest and am looking for another smalle one to compliment it. I can then put most of my baits out of site. But like Avid said, it is fun being senile and trying to find something that I know I have somwhere. ;D

You are allowing the bass to turn the bait in their mouths while they are walking away with it. As long as they do not swallow the hook or have the hook in their gills I see no reason to be concerned. You may want to do two experiments. First - set the hook a lilttle sooner. Second, rig your plastics upside down. Give 'em a shot. P.S. Just kidding about the second experiment. ;D

I knew of a guy who had a LMB in an aquarium. Watching the fish suck in goldfish was very interesting. The bass grew and got too big for the tank so he released him into a local lake. Be sure to keep a cover on the top of the tank with a weight on it as the bass will have a tendency to jump out of the tank for some unknown reason. As for transporting the bass to your tank, the wisdom of oxygenatingthe water is a very good idea. What problem I forsee is that if you get a large container you will have to bring it to the water's edge, fill it up, and then try to drag it back to your vehicle, lift it into the back compartment, without spilling any water or giving yourself a hernia. Then, at home, taking the bass by it's mouth and running to your tank and then taking the heavy container out of your car giving you a double hernia. Do you have anyone who can feed the bass while you are recuperating??? ;D ;D ;D

A weightless pink or white trick worm, dragged over the pads, letting it rest and drop into the holes, and jerked through the open ater. Use the tip of your rod and half turn of your reel to have the worm dart all around. Great action and the bass will hit them. It is great to see the bass come to the surface and inhale the worm. Buzzbaits. Lots of fun to fish. Consider a trailer hook. Mann's Minus One - Great topwater crankbait. Poppers - Pop-Rs and the ones like them. Zara Spooks - Oldie but goodie. But I would suggest the pink or white trick worms. They are not expensive and a lot of fun to fish.

I sincerely hope the Main Legislature takes the same amount of interest in all of the freshwater fishing concerns you all have and helps make freshwater fishing better in the entire state. Time will tell.

My only complaint with ESPN is that they do not have the Saturday morning fishing shows on TV. I missed the tournament (honey-do's) so I am glad to hear ESPN did something right for bass fishing. Thanks for the info, Avid. I will check the listings to see if the program is going to be rerun this week.

Suggestions to consider. 1. Advertise at all local sporting goods stores and bass clubs plus TV and radio since you are a nonprofit. 2. Have scales. This may be a problem so try to get some from a local bass club. 3. Keep rules simple. 4. Keep off-limits areas to a minimum. 5. Have a bar-b-q or hot dogs and hamburgers after the event. 6. Anyone can enter with one or two people in their boat but they still pay the same amount, like $80 per boat. 7. Consider having a separate Big Fish Pot. This will be $5 of the entry fee so you may want to go up to $85 or $90 per boat if you do this. 8. Have a handout with your cell phone number in case there are problems while on the water. 9. Have a crew ready to help with entry forms and fees; checking the live wells; and then handling the weigh-in. I am sure other guys will give you additional tips so use the ones that make sense to you and your organization.
